TheDarkTower.com Chat Room--now in full operation

Just wanted to let you guys know this is fully set up.

How to:

There is now a link in the tool bar that says "Chat Room" (far right, second row)

It is a drop down. Couple of options in there.

-Enter Chat room--launches a new window for chat

-Enter Chat room (float)--floats a box for the chat room so you can still browse the forums.

-The number of people in there

-Who's Chatting launches a page that shows all the chatters and what rooms they are in. There will no longer be a list at the bottom of forum home, it sucks resources and slows the board.

We have two rooms right now. The Lobby and on specifically for Dark Tower chatting.

I would like to add more rooms for specific chat topics at some point, looking for ideas. We can always break down Dark Tower subjects if the need arises.

This is now a paid modification on the board and I really encourage people to use it. We need to set up chat sessions for new members and try our best to be available to talk Dark Tower subjects to people who show up.

Please post questions here, I'm going to move the other thread about this off to the clearing.

you could create a room for each (or most) forum locations. (keystone tower, keystone rose, mid world, end world, etc...) and post a link in each.
but that would take up too much, wouldn't it?

Hmmmm...the cron job to update the stat only runs every 10 minutes. I'll see if I can change that.

If you click the "who's chatting" page link, it resets it.

i was wondering why it said there were 3 people chatting when only 2 were on when i joined. unless it was psychic and knew i was geting on :orely:

Support says it only does this while its being tested (folks in and out a lot) and should settle in to the right thing soon.

quick question. would it be possible to set up private chat? liek if me and a friend or 2 wanted to chat in private?

Go into the main chat room and double click on the name of the person you want to talk to. It will open up a new window for private messaging.

And yeah, please learn to spell "like". :lol:

Chat is turned off for the moment to do a tech check on the site. Since it was seriously empty for about 2 years now, we're re evaluating it. :thumbsup:
