ETA: I didn't ignore the comment/question, I just totally missed it. At any rate, you have forced my paw. In every episode bit I saw Eccleston looked like a WWII U-boat commander in a submarine-based version of Hogan's Heroes and was acting just as goofy. I couldn't take him seriously and missed almost all of season 1. Were there times when he wasn't goofy?
the one where he killed the last dalek. maybe. he said didn't like doctor who from before, so that's probably why he didn't take it seriously.
