Towerpedia:General Grissom

General Edoacer Grissom is a fictional character in author Stephen King’s The Dark Tower series. Warrior-General of the Troitans, Grissom is recruited by John Farson to participate in his campaign against the Affiliation.

Grissom is a Troitan, a polytheistic race that worships a number of vaguely-defined spider-gods. Troitans live in permanent tent encampments in the pine forests north of the Barony Seat of Indrie. Troitan tribes are organized around warfare, hunting wild game and raiding nearby cities and passing caravans. Titles are earned through mortal combat, and Grissom has become the Warrior-General by killing off his competition.

When going into battle, Triotans ritualistically paint their faces with dye made from lapis stones, which has earned them the name “Blue-Faced Barbarians”.

Persuaded by Farson that the overthrow of the Affiliation is the best interests of everyone, Grissom agrees to a treaty that allies the Troitans with Farson’s men, provided Grissom retains his position as general in his army and complete control of the movements of the Troitans.

Grissom was also the leader of Farson’s men at the battle of Jericho Hill.
