For me it is just The Stand. The only version that is in my local bookstore is a hardcover for like 30 bucks so I cant buy it. (I am too young for a job, so I cant go spending that much on a book. I also can't find it at the library. And I have a friend who owns it but wont let me read it and then return it. I think that is because he knows how much I want it and he thinks I will keep it.

I'd like to read The Probability Broach, and the rest of that series. I could order it online, but I'd much rather just check it out at the library... unfortunately none of the libraries around here have it.

There is no such book, Jean. Don't believe the wicked lies. The story is meant to be read as you read it.

I think I have a copy you can have. Let's see if the mail experiment works first though.

children of the corn

I know, shocking, but I plan on rectifying it eventually.

I have all the books I really want to read... but I can't find or afford pretty much all of the comics I want.

Heather19

My list is pretty long.
Just glancing at my bookshelf I've got:
The House Next Door
The Exorcist
Rebecca
Snuff

and for King stuff:
The Dead Zone
Misery
Dolores Claiborn
Danse Macabre
Rage, and Roadwork
Apt Pupil

I've also got many others but these would be the ones on the top of my list. I just have to find the time to read them. I also tend to go crazy buying books when I already have so many to read, that they just keep piling up.

Some other ones that I want to read, but have yet to get would be:
The Terror by Dan Simmons
The Twilight series
Invsible Monsters, Choke, Stranger than Fiction by Chuck P.
Water for Elephants
I Am Legend
The Road

I could just keep going on and on.

Last week I found Rage, The Long Walk, Roadwork and The Running Man in one volume at Value Village for $1.99! Haven't read it yet but I consider it a good find!

Alex, I'm reading the Bachman Books right now. I fucking love them. Rage was awesome and I'm half way through The Long Walk which is absolutely terrifying. I'm surprised that I'm enjoying them so much, both are phenomenal and will rank among King's best for me.

I have to finish Skeleton Crew first.

I'm trying to read everything with a DT connection.
It's going to take me a while!

I didn't care for Skeleton Crew. Why not take a break and read something phenomenal? Its like you're settling for skittles when a steak dinner just came in off the grill.

Are you inviting me over for steak?!!!

I was using a metaphor, buy why not? Do you have a favorite marinade?

obscurejude

No, what ever you want is fine by me.
Shall I bring some refreshments with me?

As long as they're at least 40 proof, preferably 80 or more. :)

Allof the Star Trek books? WOW! The Star Trek section of my town's bookstore is bigger than the Star Wars section. Have fun.

By that time we will have another Star TRek series going that I can  over... :D

I didn't meant to infer that all star trek books are crappy, but every ONCE in a while there's one that you look at and say, "why did they publish THIS? I could write something better than this!"

I would LOVE to own (or rent) the Wardstone Chronicles but I don't know if they are available in english. So sadly I must settle for the Last Apprentice series which is basically the much more childish vershion of it.

PS: Yes, I no it shows Italy's flag under my avatar. I'm from America, I just like Italy more. (No offence, everyone in America).

quoted from the starter post:

This is about the books you'd like to read but haven't because you: can't afford them, can't find them or some other reason!

please do not let it be just another recommendation/advice thread, or it will have to be merged

I hate to disappoint you, but it wasn't all about your last post http://i91.photobucket.com/albums/k291/mishemplushem/Facilitation/bear_wink-1.gif... with such a number of general threads on what we read or don't read, it is important that the specifics are preserved in every case. Because I personally find the idea of this very thread great, and want it to develop in accordance with the guidelines you set in your starter post! http://i91.photobucket.com/albums/k291/mishemplushem/Facilitation/0134-bear.gifhttp://i91.photobucket.com/albums/k291/mishemplushem/Facilitation/0134-bear.gifhttp://i91.photobucket.com/albums/k291/mishemplushem/Facilitation/0134-bear.gif

Take me, for example... I buy books in English only abroad, because I can afford only second-hand, and we do not have second-hand foreign bookstores... http://i91.photobucket.com/albums/k291/mishemplushem/Facilitation/bear_sad.gif... Thus, I still don't have either The Gunslinger Revised, or Palahniuk's Lullabye (I saw them in London, but my trunk was already bursting with other books by that time... and those others were all the more precious because at least 75% were presents from my dear Palaver friends!

Now, about you and It - I believe there must be libraries, no? Or used bookstores, or maybe someone you could borrow from?

http://i91.photobucket.com/albums/k291/mishemplushem/Facilitation/0134-bear.gifhttp://i91.photobucket.com/albums/k291/mishemplushem/Facilitation/bear_sad.gifhttp://i91.photobucket.com/albums/k291/mishemplushem/Facilitation/0134-bear.gifhttp://i91.photobucket.com/albums/k291/mishemplushem/Facilitation/bear_sad.gifhttp://i91.photobucket.com/albums/k291/mishemplushem/Facilitation/0134-bear.gifhttp://i91.photobucket.com/albums/k291/mishemplushem/Facilitation/bear_sad.gifhttp://i91.photobucket.com/albums/k291/mishemplushem/Facilitation/0134-bear.gif

1. I have no access to a library.

2. If I come across a Gunslinger Revised, I'll buy it for you.
