They came. They flailed their arms. They made funny faces. The action was fierce at the U.S. Air Guitar Regional Semifinals, on Wednesday at the Independent in San Francisco. Only one competitor, Alex Koll, going by the stage name of Awesome, clinched the chance to proceed to the national finals Aug. 8 at the Grand Ballroom at the Regency Center in San Francisco. The winners from the finals will head to the 13th annual Air Guitar World Championships in Finland. Shown above from Wednesday's competition is James Rostosky.

I've been to a air guitar contest before (though I didn't participate due to severe drunkeness lol), it was one of the most insane things I have ever seen lol

There was a recent memoir written about air guitar by air guitarist: bjorn turoque (born to rock). I heard him on NPR and I thought it sounded interesting in some regards but when I checked him out on youtube it didn't look any different from the stuff I did in my room when I was younger. :shrugs:
