I was just wondering if anyone has any hobbies or collections, besides reading and books?

I, myself crochet, knit, cross stitch, rug hook and collect nutcrackers...the little wooden solider ones not the ones actually used to crack nuts.

Thought it might be interesting to see what everyone does in their spare time.

I like to have all my favorite books in Hardback. I usually rent books from the library but if I love it then I'll buy it in hardback and add it to my bookshelf.

Ooo, I like this thread! I collect alot of things: movie stubs, ticket stubs, keychains, pens, books, DVDs, receipts of things that I purchase, brochures, cardboard boxes, and celebrity autographs.

I'm sure I collect more than that, but I can't think of any more at the moment.

When it comes to hobbies, I play guitar with my friends (sort of a band) and play Resident Evil games on my PS2. I also like to take apart electronics.

Collections - Guitars, Resident Evil memorabilia, Movie Posters, circuit boards, CD's, knives. I am sure there are more, but I can't think of them right now.

My hobbies are the internet (big surprise there, huh? :cyclops: ), reading, collecting books, any and everything SK, vinyl, and DVDs. I also have numerous collections of stuff that I've drifted away from mostly.

Its been awhile since I've procured anything new but I do collect masks and hats...especially silly/interesting hats. Sadly, I've lost a few hats but I still have a few good ones. I have, I think, about 9 masks. But I don't have much time for collecting anything these days. I have a friend that collects shot glasses and whenever I go any place I'll pick one up for him.

I also like to write and play pc games.

I love to paint and draw. One thing I also love to do is at least once a year, I'll go through all our random shit and do a huge clean-out. If I haven't used it in a year, it goes in the trash or to charity (especially clothes). I'm the opposite of pack-rat.

I don't collect much because of this. Mostly books, DVD's, shotglasses from other cities and nice throw blankets. Oh, and I Love Lucy stuff. I have a bit of that.

i collect turtles (not sea turtles, turtles. sea turtles have flippers, turtles have feet.)

i also collect winnie the pooh things. i have an amazing collection that is boxed up right now. i am a very discerning winnie the pooh collector. whether an item is classic or disney is especially important. also, where it may fit in my heart means more than anything. my favorite piece is a small bisque pooh standing on a piece of parchment holding a quill pen in his paws. i love that more than any other piece i think.

my best non-turtle, non-pooh piece is a yoda from when star wars first came out. i call him the one true yoda. he's one of those little tiny molded plastic guys. he's not on a card or anything (which my husband - who is a huge star wars collector, and i mean huge - says makes him worth less than if he were still on a card) but he is precious to me. he has his stick, and his snake, and his little yoda robe. he sits on the wooden thingy that goes around our thermostat.

What do I do?

The question is, what don't I do.

I collect things. Many, many things. Military collectibles, firearms, books, action figures, electronics, memorabilia of assorted types. Pretty much anything that catches my fancy.

I'm a strange person.

I also hike a lot. I hunt a lot. I read a lot.

I also work at a grocery store. It's nowhere near as fun as the abovementioned "hobbies." But it's not too bad. I'm a "utility clerk," which means I pretty much just do whatever no one else wants to. It affords me many interesting opportunities for mischief.

Okay, let's see.

I am starting a DT book collection, this isn't a complete list of my books ( i just got first editions!! ) but so far - http://www.thedarktower.org/gallery/showgallery.php?cat=596

In addition to DT books, I collect comic books ( graded (cgc) and ungraded ).

I also collect comic and sci-fi figures/busts/statues - http://www.thedarktower.org/gallery/showgallery.php?cat=594

I collect movie banners ( those big vinyl ones from the lobbies of the movie theater ) and Angelina Jolie movie posters.

One of my hobbies is geocaching ( www.geocaching.com ).

I also do a lot of gaming ( PS3 snob ) and I love travel.

I do the National Parks Passport Stamp thing - National Parks Geek here.

Hmmm, what else?

Star Trek :borg: and Star Wars items. Star Wars and Star Trek were the very first things I ever collected. Star Wars was a HUGE influence on me. And, I am a TNG Trekker - Picard is my captain.

I also have a big DVD collection - http://www.turtlexicon.com/turtlexflix.html - and I consider film both a hobbie and a collectable. It's just a lot easier that way :) .

Gosh, that's more information about me than I think I've ever given out. As you can tell, my interests are all over the place. Be kind.

You made me laugh with this.

My girls' nephew came to visit me and stayed at my apartment - he's 11 and he was in heaven. He was looking at my comic statues like they were in a museum.

I play music (guitar). I play a lot but I have no illusions of doing it professionally (nor the talent) so it is a hobby.

I don't collect anything per se, but I do have a vast music library which is growing all the time. Buying cd's is an addiction.

I have that Yoda, too (I think we've discussed that...)! At the moment he is in Mr. Woofer's shop and often sits in the cockpit of the latest RC plane Mr. Woofer is building.

Among other things, I collect wolves - shocking, I know - and Snoopy. Joe Cool rawks.

3 Doors Down - you should post some pics of your PRS guitars. PRS makes some really sweet looking guitars. I'd love to see.

I play too. I don't collect guitars, though I would if I could afford to. I currently have a Gibson ES-135 and a Squire Strat. I would love to add a Telecaster to the family.

Second, well you ever see the history channel? You know those guys that are in the backgound wearing uniforms that nobody has worn in quite some time? Yep, thats me, I am a reenactor. This hobby got me in to the one at the top. Have done and still have the gear for everything from French and indian war (7 years war for you european types)to ww2. ww2 is my current love. Where else do you get to engage real people with real weapons and not worry about death? And we all get up and have a beer after wards...

There is just something nice about wasting (simulated) a Kraut with a thompson....

And the tragic thing is my wife approves and dose it with me! She dose french resistance though, thourally under apprechiated in my opinion.
