Oh Aileen Ritter, divided girl of mine! *giggle*

sorry couldn't help myself..but there's Ms. Ritter, Cort's feisty niece, Roland's second love, the would-be gunslinger and the already-so girl.

Letti, almost nothing is known about Aileen.
In the original Gunslinger she was mentioned as Roland's love. In the revised that's removed I think & there's a reference to Roland dancing with her at a ball in Gilead. & that's all from the actual DT Books.

All other info (cannon or not?) comes from the other books (which I haven't read either)
see daghain's link ...
http://www.thedarktower.org/palaver/showthread.php?t=1612

... so I guess you can imagine Aileen to look any way you like...?

Letti

Thanks, Brian. Great.
We will see if I can find time or not. :)

Those are great, you guys!

And Letti, Aileen doesn't really get a bio until you get to the comic books, which for the purposes of Towerpedia we're considering canon. :)

Oh so that's why I didn't recognize her either. I haven't read those yet, and I had no memory of her even being mentioned in The Gunslinger.

Great job so far you guys. IR, I really like the concept behind your drawing, very original.

Thankee-sais one and all big big!

little fun thing, hold paper up to one side or the other, covering even her face, and look, you'll see two totally different people

did that on purpose X3

she even has makeup on the dress side...XD

cant wait to see others!!!!

Daghain

I like the way she's twirling the gun on the end of her finger.

Mist_on_the_Water
06-24-2008, 05:42 AM
Thankee! I imagined her doing soemthing like that, cus she sounds to me like a girl with a bit of an attitude...I originally had an image in my mind of a girl with short hair, like boycut almost, wearing a camo tanktop, a brown belt, khaki green jeans tucked into combat boots.......twirling a gun on her finger....XD

in any case, thanks..if anyone has any ideas hon how to draw hands better however, please tell me, I can never make them look right!

Lisa, that's very damn good!

(The gun is a bit too big, even for 'big iron' , imho, but the drawing is excellent overall)

This is gonna be an interesting one!

i don't think the gun looks big. considering it's being held by someone i always thought of as smallish, i think it's a good size. that's just me picturing it in my imagination, though. and WOW. :excited:

The girl I just drew in pencil on cartridge paper and then went over her in black ink - I didn't like the original background I drew so I cut her out and stuck her on a new one (which is black ink, shaded with pencil - left Aileen unshaded and gave her an outline to make her stand out more) :D

Thanks guys :grouphug:
I thought the gun was pretty massive too - I got so into getting the detail right on it I didn't consider the proportion  But I'm justifying it by saying shes only about 15/16...and Turtle is backing me up  :P

Darkthoughts = Lisa?
Did you think I was a guy? :D

Yes, you are :D

Wow. I love how there's texture and dimension to it, DT. It's a great thing when you can make a mistake (not liking the original background and cutting her out) work so well.
Mistake isn't exactly the right word but I hope you follow my meaning.

Daghain
06-26-2008, 08:01 AM
Yeah, I like the 3-dimensional aspect of it too.

I totally know what you're saying :couple: The other day my daughter (who is 5) was about to crumple up a drawing she'd been doing because she'd made a mistake - and I said to her, "Just make it a part of the picture, turn it into something else!" I think its a good way to go with art. I can never find an eraser anyway, so its kinda my rule of thumb - "mistakes are to be incorporated, not erased." :D

Mist_on_the_Water

I've done that before....every so often i figure out a new technique in that fashion..I call them happy mistakes...learned a great way to paint clouds with one of them! That certainly is a good thing to learn from
