i was diging out a fire pit that was left here by the previous renters of my home, and among the melted beer cans a twisted remains of metal, i found an old wrench. its not adjustable, and is a doubled sided 14/17, i was told 14 was a common bolt size, and, having no tools of my own, i decided to clean it up. ive already taken at it with sand paper, and the rust a scorches are coming off really well, but i still need something to give it a shine back.

tips? suggestions?

i may convert this into a general tool cleaning thread at some point.

You should go to a hardware store and ask if they have anything for that sort of thing. I am pretty sure they will.

WD-40 is what my mom uses to clean tools... she just sprays them and lets them dry...

It's kept at least my great grandfather's tools from going bad...
