Please do not post individual threads listing items for sale.

All sales should be done using DTbay. You can post a notice of your item for sale in the DTbay thread, as well as provide a blurb and link in your signature.

If you would like the ability to sell items on DTbay, please send me a PM or post here.

Please remember to read the disclaimer on the front page. I have written a generic one for now but Aaron will be putting us together a more comprehensive one as soon as he can.

Basically, we are going to provide this service free to dt.com members and assume no responsibility for the transaction itself. If there is a problem between you and the seller/buyer, you need to work it out as best you can.

We will use a feedback system and people will receive infractions if they are not honest about their intent to buy/sell. But the worst that will happen is these people will lose their ability to use the product. We will not ban over this. :shoot:

Please keep this in mind when using the product.

All registered users on the site can buy, you must request to become a seller.

All sellers should put a link to their various auctions in their signature but people interested in buying these one of a kind items should get in the habit of checking the DTbay page everyday.

Thank you, please post questions here.

What? No fees? Matt, you'll drive the big auction sites out of business!

Seriously, I know we have some members/collectors that sell on eBay regularly. I hope they join in here as well.

So, just to clarify, is this for DT and SK related items only, or is it wide open?

Someone had to ask.

What do you guys think? I could create some other categories for non King related stuff.

I hope so too. I actually considered the fee thing and then thought..."nah" Once we build this place up there will be a 1,000 different ways to generate revenue for the site and after the initial investment, it really hasn't cost me much at all.

So please enjoy everyone, I hope its a big hit.

Please post a brief description of your item for sale and a link.

I have the US Uncut Stand proof out there now. When that one is done, I'll be putting up the Grant Talisman/Black House gift edition still in shrinkwrap.

Matt
10-09-2007, 02:42 PM
I would cut off my arm to have that one John, I just can't afford it right now.

One thing we should consider is if members will be allowed to contact sellers on closed auctions. Not sure why that wouldn't be okay but I will leave it up to you guys.

jhanic
10-09-2007, 03:11 PM
I don't have a problem with that. And don't write off the Grant set. I'm thinking of a fairly low starting point!

Since the site isn't collecting fees, I can't imagine why a Pm to a seller would be discouraged, other than any complaints that result out of the transaction would be outside the realm of DT.com

I've submitted the Talisman/Black House gift set from Grant. Somehow I accidentally put one in the Artwork section instead of the proper Books section. If someone could please delete the one in Artwork, I'd appreciate it.

I've just missed the Talisman-Black House John Hanic was selling for $80. Does anyone has another for sale?

Matt
10-17-2007, 11:33 AM
That was our first successful auction (besides the one I one) and it looks like he got a pretty good return.

I am so glad it worked well, I wish I could have bid on it. Had it been after the new year, I would have given someone a run for their money.

I'm not sure if someone else has one to auction though.

10-17-2007, 11:52 AM
Fsmdr and I were just talking and we agreed that it would have been nice to see how many hits there were on the auction. Also, for my part, I see that there were two bids, but no identities except for fsmdr. I have no idea where the second bid came from.

The book will go out to fsmdr tomorrow.

I'm looking forward to the book. It would really be nice too if we have a space somewhere on the site as a reminder of DTbay auctions currently active. Maybe a box on bottom or the top something like:

DTbay auctions :

Book : 1 listing

time left : 1 day 3hrs

That way we can pull in as much interested parties to bid as possible and as a reminder that there is an auction ending soon. not sure if this is possible. Just my 2 cents.

We have something like that on the Collectors Page (http://www.thedarktower.org/collectors/). Its in the middle center there.

I could add modules to the forum home but it would take putting a strip down the left side of this screen--folks didn't seem to keen on that.

But I suppose we could put the link in a thread somewhere :orely:

Patrick

Can you make it a header announcement strip or something in the Calvins' Corner, Matt? Just a thought.

Matt
10-18-2007, 11:00 AM
Its under the forumdisplay.php :(

That means it would show up under every forum. I am trying to work out something though.

Patrick
10-18-2007, 03:02 PM
Under every forum would certainly increase visibility... although I suppose not every member will want to see it every time.

Matt
10-20-2007, 06:25 AM
I suppose I could set it up as a permanent announcement in the forum for now, that would get some exposure I think.

My big plan for it is to use it raise money for Wavedancer. Hopefully I can get people to donate and others to really come out and bid.

But that's down the line a fur piece

Since these are still in the shrinkwrap, there's no way of knowing if they have a small remarque in them or not. I know Whelan added either an eye or the ka symbol to about 10% of the printrun. He also did a very small number of other drawings too. Below is one that I own.

Just an added selling point!

Hello all ! I listed a few books on the auction site. Just wanted to make you aware of that and to say feel free to message me or email me with offers or questions. I am willing to negotiate or even do partial or whole trades.
As for trades, would be interested in UK first editons, ARCS/Proofs (US or UK), or any signed first edition.
Hope you all are having a great day and hopefully you are not nearly as behind in your holiday shopping as i am !!!!

They are not only signed by Whelan, but about 10% of them (about 500) have an extra remarque in them. Usually, it's the "Eye" or the "Ka" symbol, but a very few have a larger drawing. (Below is one I have.) You don't know if yours has one or not until you open the shrinkwrap.

John

yeah... i remember that... i bought three of those darn artist editions... opened all three and not a damn one was signed.... what a pisser, talk about big disappointment. of course with my luck in these matters... i probably could have bought a hunded of them and not got one signed or with an "eye" much less one with an illustration....

I maxed my budget out on some other stuff nameless. I drooled over the auctions though.

I figure since the auction house is free, its worth throwing something out there.

I'm also going to try and figure out a way to set people up with automatic notifications (if they want them) when new auctions are posted out there.

So much to see and do here :panic:

I set the auction for 5 days, so that should be the evening of the 26th, but I put in a low BIN price so it could go anytime. This should be a good deal even for the resellers.

Hello Collectors

I would like to close DTbay to auctions outside the ones we are doing for the fund raiser until May 19th.

Mostly its because I am setting up a page that shows current charity auctions here (http://www.thedarktower.org/index.php?page=charity) and I didn't want non-charity auctions to appear there. Its all or nothing, no way to separate them.

There is one auction going on a great Insomnia book out there now, when its closed, that will be it until May 19th. Thanks so much.

And if you would like information on donating anything to the fund raiser, please give any Director a shout. :grouphug:

God I'm so new LOL

Matt
02-28-2008, 04:13 PM
Hey Cooch--thanks for the interest.

We have already raised over a thousand dollars and we're still going strong.

The auctions are going to be for stuff that doesn't have a "fair market value" so we don't end up selling something for much less than it is worth.

All items with a fair market value that are donated to the charity will be used in a MASSIVE giveaway we will be holding the last week of the fund raiser. There is going to be all kinds of ways to win an entry for the giveaway

Things without a set value (like my Drawing of the Three on tape I just auctioned off) will be set up in DTbay.

Obviously these items have a value, just not set market.

If you would like to donate something to either one, you are welcome to send it to me and I will set up the auction or save them for the giveaway.

The list of giveaway items is amazing so far :ninja:

All sales should be done using DTbay. You can post a notice of you item for sale in the Dtbay thread, as well as provide a blurb and link in your signature.

It is not a problem or worry.
We just recognized that unless people used Dtbay, we could end up with dozens of "for sale" ads.

Patrick
05-22-2008, 08:34 PM
No worries, Dave. I forget about it too.

I'd like to repeat the recommendation that any member with a live listing on dtBay, please put a link in your sig to advertise your listing until it closes.

By the way, I believe dtBay has a Buy-It-Now function if you have a set price.

Matt
05-23-2008, 06:24 AM
It does indeed. And there is certainly no harm done. As we move forward, these types of "organizational" issues are bound to come up.

herbertwest
05-25-2008, 03:35 AM
what about also creating (added to the DTbay section) a thread on Calvin Corner, dedicated to sales of books?

that way, everyone that have something for trade/sell and may dont want to put it on Dtbay, could notice it in that thread?

Randall Flagg
05-25-2008, 07:56 AM
For now, we want to encourage the use of DTbay. It is free to members.
We will take your suggestion under consideration.

jhanic
05-25-2008, 08:13 AM
I don't see what the difference would be in putting it out on DTbay with a Buy It Now price and having a single thread. In fact, having a single thread seems to me to have the chance of missing something, where on DTbay, they're all readily accessible.

John

Matt
05-25-2008, 08:34 AM
I totally agree, the platform is designed for this very thing and is completely free. No real reason not to put everything in there.

I also think it would be a good idea to establish a policy by which people can look at closed auctions and contact the seller if they are interested.

It says that on the dtbay main page but I'm not sure people think about the possibility much. I sure look through those closed auctions every now and then.

Patrick
05-25-2008, 09:11 AM
The operative term being "completely free". :)

Randall Flagg

the thread will just be to let people know to have a look on Dtbay, no?
The Dtbay thread will be where a person can notify Collectors an item is for sale.
In addition, by providing a link in your signature, every post a person makes in effect advertises the item.

I re-posted my copy of Six Stories. It is listed for 3 days with a Buy It Now price of $900.

How about selling some of your proofs?

There is a limit to how much I'm willing to part with. I enjoy all of my books but the proofs are where my focus is. It would take more than closing costs to make me sell them. Do you already have a Six Stories, Roman Numeraled copy? I have to admit that I opened up the shipping worldwide hoping to catch your interest.

I relisted my DT3 and 4 ARCs if anyone is interested.

Question on the DT4 ARC artwork. My copy that is up for sale has 5 art plates with it, but the included letter from Grant mentions 6. Which is it?
(I purchased my copy from Badmoon Books a few years ago)

I have another photo available of the artwork if anyone wants to see the edge wear. (Some small creasing and at least one small tear (1/8" or so)

Strange, I set reserve prices on both of my auctions and they don't appear to have worked.

Which ones were they Scoogs...did they sell for less than you wanted?

If this is the case, I'll be happy to mediate the miscommunication. DTbay has been having trouble with the upgrade and I'm sure the buyer will understand.

Let me know.

I was the winner of the DTIV proof with prints, but I've already pm'd scoogs and told him that he was free to cancel the auction if he wanted. I don't want him ripped off because some software didn't work properly.

Thanks for being so open about it John, I will let you guys work it out.

I need to close the thing and fix it because I hate for this thing to come up. One more auction is out there and after that and I'm going to shut it down for a while.

I was the winner of the DTIII proof. I don't know what the reserve would have been, but I gave him the option to cancel as well. DTbay is a good idea. Even though I outbid myself! :P ;)

Thanks man, I'm glad you guys have it handled.

If you can negotiate a price that works, that would be great for all.

I'm afraid that it may not work with the upgrade (it was designed for the 3.6 version of the board), support is no longer available from the coder so I'm really hoping I can fix it and we won't have to abandon the modification. :(

If worse comes to worst - maybe we could have a disclaimer saying that the reserve doesn't work - and then sellers could either post a Buy It Now (and we could PM offers if we were so inclined), or a free-for-all no reserve auction?

Thanks guys. I'm positive I set it up with reserve prices, so it must have just been a glitch. It happens, no harm done.

The sellers should just list the items starting at their reserve price.

Good point. In the item description if a reserve price is mentioned-then if there is a glitch, at least the minimum price was made clear.

Great for me you guys. I uninstalled and reinstalled it yesterday...hopefully the thing works now.

At least the minus numbers are gone.

I didnt get any interest at all, not even any comments. Just curious why? Are my prices to high? If you all think so feel free to let me know what you feel are appropiate market prices. I would appreciate the feedback !
