MonteGss
10-24-2007, 10:52 AM

Who had a desire to paint like Picasso or write like Faulkner, if only for a day?

No, sorry again. Calvin Tower is not correct

Girlystevedave
10-24-2007, 01:16 PM
:pullhair: It's bugging me because if I wasn't at work, I'd probably be able to find the answer. Aarg!. I'm gonna feel dumb when I find out.

Daghain
10-24-2007, 01:21 PM
Me too.

Was it Eddie?

MonteGss
10-24-2007, 01:22 PM

Girlystevedave
10-24-2007, 01:30 PM
Daghain, what's really gonna get me, and probably you too, is somebody is gonna sweep in with the answer after we've been picking our brains for hours.

MonteGss
10-24-2007, 01:31 PM
CK. He always does.

Girlystevedave
10-24-2007, 01:33 PM
You tell him to keep off

MonteGss
10-24-2007, 01:33 PM
He may be my bitch, but he doesn't obey me.

Daghain
10-24-2007, 01:35 PM
It will totally be CK.

Kevin
10-24-2007, 01:51 PM
Stephen King? I think I remember something like that in On Writing.

MonteGss
10-24-2007, 02:08 PM
Nope. The trivia questions for this thread need to be Dark Tower related. In other words, from DT 1-7 or the connectors, so On Writing would not apply. :)
Welcome to trivia!

Kevin
10-24-2007, 02:13 PM
Ah. I see...thanks for clearing that up.

My next guess was going to be Calvin Tower.

MonteGss
10-24-2007, 02:13 PM
Nope, sorry. :)

ZoNeSeeK

Kevin
10-24-2007, 07:59 PM
Heehee, I notice there's no book search on this site...unfortunate.

Daghain
10-24-2007, 08:14 PM
Trust me, it doesn't help. I've been all over .net - it's not there.

That means book 7 to me!

Kevin
10-24-2007, 08:17 PM
Yea I checked the .net booksearch too and came up dry. You're probably right, its in book 7. So guess who's going to be up late tonight?

Wuducynn
10-24-2007, 08:41 PM
I only have an inkling here.. Tom Cullum?

Daghain
10-24-2007, 08:42 PM
Yea I checked the .net booksearch too and came up dry. You're probably right, its in book 7. So guess who's going to be up late tonight?

Not me!

And I'm surprised CK hasn't got it. :D

Wuducynn
10-24-2007, 08:44 PM
Well maybe I have...we'll have to wait and see.

Daghain
10-24-2007, 08:45 PM

Wuducynn
10-24-2007, 08:48 PM
?? I posted an answer above.

Daghain
10-24-2007, 08:54 PM
Yes, but are you right?

Wuducynn
10-24-2007, 08:55 PM
Like I said we'll have to wait and see. I'm doubting that I am. I honestly don't have a clue. Its a damn good question.

Daghain
10-24-2007, 09:05 PM
I know. It's one of those that you can feel picking at the back of your brain, but you can't quite get the answer.

I'm going to throw out Susannah as a possible answer, though. :D

ZoNeSeeK
10-24-2007, 09:12 PM
Oh i know - Giles the Robot?

Nope again.

Daghain
10-24-2007, 09:25 PM

Short term memory is fried!

MonteGss
10-25-2007, 03:15 AM
Nobody is correct yet. Sorry.

The question on the board is:
Who had a desire to paint like Picasso or write like Faulkner, if only for a day?

Here's a little hint that should help:
This person would also love to be able to see distinct auras of people.

Wuducynn
10-25-2007, 05:17 AM
Is this directly related to the Dark Tower series?

Storyslinger
10-25-2007, 05:33 AM
Did smeone guess Patrick?

Wuducynn
10-25-2007, 05:41 AM
Did someone forget that they can click back a few pages and look?

Storyslinger
10-25-2007, 05:43 AM
I was kind of busy at the time, I'll check now

And the answer is NO

Wuducynn
10-25-2007, 05:44 AM
Just giving you shit man. I think you're the first one.

Storyslinger
10-25-2007, 05:46 AM
Just giving you shit man. I think you're the first one.

I know, I wasn't meaning to sound pissed

Wuducynn
10-25-2007, 05:53 AM
Would it make you feel any better if the truth was that deep down inside I don't give a shit one way or the other?

Storyslinger
10-25-2007, 05:55 AM
:innocent:

Wuducynn
10-25-2007, 06:08 AM
My only concern is that if we do choose questions from the closely related non-Dark Tower books like Low Men in Yellow Coats, Insomnia and Black House for instance that the questions be directly related to the Dark Tower series, not some arbitrary character or happening within them.

Storyslinger
10-25-2007, 06:09 AM
Good point, It must be directly related, I agree

chuxter
10-25-2007, 07:22 AM
I'm gonna say Pimli Prentess

Wuducynn
10-25-2007, 07:51 AM

And I still don't have the answer!

Wuducynn
10-25-2007, 10:05 AM
You ALWAYS have the answers!!

Daghain
10-25-2007, 10:11 AM

The only other writer I can think might have said it was John Marinville in the Regulators

Wuducynn
10-25-2007, 01:11 PM
Don't assume it's a writer ;)

ZoNeSeeK
10-25-2007, 02:53 PM
Trudy Damascus?

Daghain
10-25-2007, 05:24 PM
Trampas?

Wuducynn
10-25-2007, 05:27 PM
Is it that one guy in that Dark Tower book? You know the one I'm talking about...

Daghain
10-25-2007, 05:29 PM
 The guy with the thing? And the hair? Yeah, that one.

ZoNeSeeK
10-25-2007, 05:30 PM
Ahh .. is it the main guy who pursues Jake to the door into Fedic?

Wuducynn
10-25-2007, 05:49 PM
I found the answer. It is Mr. Sharpton a recruiter for Trans Corp. which is a division of North Central Positronics.

Great question Monte..you have my sincere admiration. No joke. Damn fucking good question.

Daghain
10-25-2007, 05:57 PM
Oh, THAT guy.

I knew once I heard it....

Great question Monte..you have my sincere admiration. No joke. Damn fucking good question.

You are absolutely correct. I read the past page or two and I was a little hurt that you thought I would ask a question that isn't Dark Tower related.

No...I was skimming that story (it's damn good, i think) and that whole conversation jumped out at me....probably because of the EXCALIBUR thing. :)
You're up, my master...

Daghain
10-25-2007, 07:48 PM
It was a good question, Monte. :D

Wuducynn
10-25-2007, 08:18 PM

MonteGss
10-25-2007, 08:18 PM

Daghain
10-25-2007, 08:24 PM

Wuducynn
10-25-2007, 08:37 PM
Good job Kevin. The Feather is yours.

Kevin
10-25-2007, 08:42 PM
Thank you, I've always liked that quote.

Whose name was Eddie probably writing on his desk during English class?

Daghain
10-25-2007, 08:48 PM
OOOOH, that's a good one!

chuxter
10-26-2007, 09:38 AM
I'm gonna guess Roland (and wasn't it Jake that was in the english class?)

Kevin
10-26-2007, 12:14 PM
Nope, Roland is incorrect. And yes, Jake was in an English class, but its not pertinent to the question. This specifically has to do with Eddie.

chuxter
10-26-2007, 12:37 PM
Damn, this IS a good one! :D

Wuducynn
10-26-2007, 12:55 PM
Frodo Baggins?

Kevin
10-26-2007, 04:24 PM
Frodo Baggins?

Ummm...no. Nice try though?

Wuducynn
10-26-2007, 04:35 PM
Eddie was a LOTR fan so I wasn't kidding.

Kevin
10-26-2007, 04:52 PM
Ah-ha. Sorry bout that then.

Aaron
10-27-2007, 01:48 PM

Nope.

Darkthoughts
10-27-2007, 02:18 PM
I'm sure its a girl's name and I'm sure its in DoTT? But I've loaned my copy out so I can't check :(

Kevin
10-27-2007, 02:21 PM
It is a girls name, but its not in DoTT. <-------hint

Darkthoughts
10-27-2007, 02:33 PM
Cool - I shall have a search then!

Daghain
10-27-2007, 03:27 PM
Gotta be book 7. Booksearch was futile.

Kevin
10-27-2007, 05:55 PM

*bump*

Whose name was Eddie probably writing on his desk during English class?

alinda
10-28-2007, 04:48 AM
Susannah ? maybe he was looped!!

I am always amazed at how much I forget even after
reading /rereading a book!!

Kevin
10-28-2007, 09:22 AM
Me too, Linda. I noticed this on my 4th reread.

Sussannah is incorrect.

MonteGss
10-28-2007, 10:53 AM
How about another hint?

Kevin
10-28-2007, 11:04 AM
Ok. The topic Eddie thinks he missed because he was writing someone's name on his desk is deus ex machina.

Hope that helps!

alinda
10-28-2007, 12:35 PM
his sister , didnt he have a sisiter? what was her name?:pullhair:

Wuducynn
10-28-2007, 02:07 PM
his sister , didnt he have a sisiter? what was her name?:pullhair:

She has two..you can pick which one you like better I guess. :D

ZoNeSeeK
10-28-2007, 05:10 PM
Claudia y Inez Bachman? ;)

Kevin
10-28-2007, 05:28 PM
Bachman is incorrect. And Linda to save you the trouble its not his sister Gloria either.

CK, Eddie isnt a she, unless I missed something major, and he doesnt have two sisters...unless I misunderstood your post, which is more than likely.

Do elaborate on the deus ex machina clue, think about which book they would've been discussing that.

To summarize, Eddie thinks he was writing a girls name on his desk when his class was discussing deus ex machina, which is major topic in one of the books in the series.

Its also not in DoTT.

Wuducynn
10-28-2007, 05:52 PM
Kevin, SK gave Eddie's sister two names Selina and Gloria. It was a screw up on his part.

Kevin
10-28-2007, 06:03 PM
Ahhh I see, reminds me of the donkey/mule screw up. I even checked the concordance before I posted to make sure, and it didnt mention Selina.

Thanks for the clarification.

 Great question. I never would have guessed it, but I happened to stumble across it in my DT concordance book... yes, I'm an uber nerd.

You can go ahead with another question if you want.. my brain's too empty right now..

Girlystevedave
10-31-2007, 06:39 PM
Not that I'm in any way offended by being called dude, I've been called worse things, but I'm a girl.

Nah, too hard...that question would go unanswered for weeks around here.

MonteGss
11-12-2007, 11:24 PM
Whats a "gunslinger"?

Considering the names he proclaimed, I believe it would be hard to argue or nitpick on this question....unless of course you can't answer the question. :D A gunslinger is who sai King says is a gunslinger.

Darkthoughts
11-13-2007, 04:39 AM
Well it depends, theres only 6 if you're saying a gunslinger is someone who passed their trial exactly as Roland and the first ka-tet did (So, you have Roland, Cuthbert, jamie, Alain, Cort and Stephen Deschain). If you include the second ka-tet its 9, if you include Oy 10, Callahan 11, Stephen King 12..which way did you mean it? :P

Daghain
11-13-2007, 07:52 AM
Jesus, she should get it based on that answer alone.

11-14-2007, 09:26 AM
A gunslinger is who King/Roland said was a gunslinger. Steven, Cuthbert, Alain, Jamie, Eddie, Susannah, Jake and himself. Oy is an animal and not a gunslinger and none of the other names were gunslingers either. Anyone saying otherwise is really reaching.

So Lisa, where is your question? :)

Darkthoughts
11-14-2007, 01:17 PM
It's on it's way :D

But, I must disagree with you by adding Cort to the list. I'm pretty sure he must be a gunslinger by the very fact that he trains gunslingers. Does he not mention somewhere his test infact?

Daghain
11-14-2007, 01:23 PM
I don't think he passed the test, though. So in that regard he wouldn't be. :D

Darkthoughts
11-14-2007, 01:23 PM
He must of or he'd of been exiled :orely:

MonteGss
11-14-2007, 01:33 PM
Cort was a bondsman. He was a type of "servant" of the gunslingers. He was not a gunslinger himself and I am fairly certain it never says he was either. :D

According to the Gunslingers Guidebook:

Cort is listed as a Gunslinger Trainer is the son of Fardo, also a Gunslinger Trainer. He ascended to the position after his predecessor, Mark was killed by the blade of an overzelous apprentice.

MonteGss
11-14-2007, 01:39 PM
So, I am correct. :D Thanks. Cort is not a gunslinger.

Daghain

What he said. :D

Darkthoughts
11-15-2007, 02:19 AM
Boo! I don't see how he can train gunslinger's if he's not one himself - thats just dumb...like civilians training army recruits.

Yeah...I'm a bad loser

My question is:
What lines the floor at the Cradle of the Grays - you need to provide the place of origin in the answer.

Wuducynn

Yay!!!!! I won! I won! I won!
I'd like to thank all my fans out there in Oz, my family, to my good friend Roland and to that sad, little man-bitch of mine, CK for his desire and thoughtfulness he shows me.

Where's Bill's question?

NeedfulKings
11-20-2007, 09:37 AM
Haha! Thanks everyone! My research tactics didn't involve a book (since I'm at work), so I'll have to post a new question when I get home to my Books!!!

If you strong arm me, I'll ask something, but I can't "verify" it's authenticity until I see it IN a book. :)

New Question:

Who did Susan Delgado encounter "...standing by himself not far from the place where Silk Ranch Road and the Great Road intersected..."

Daghain

Susan encountered the man with the long red hair and straw hat, a farmer, who threw cornshucks at her and said charyou tree. :D

I hate that I knew exactly where to find that - and the entire contents of my office, including my books, are strew all over my livingroom right now.

It took me longer to find the book.
