Just so you guys know, I'm at the beach all day (Wilmington) I'll try to post a question tonight or early tomorrow when I get back to Raleigh. Peace.

Unacceptable. :P
Dude, where are your priorities?

Dude, where are your priorities?

His priorities are running half naked down the beach!!!

Daghain

Pasty and a DT addict. That is the only acceptable way.

Wuducynn

Pasty and a DT addict. That is the only acceptable way.

Well put.

obscurejude
04-15-2008, 08:24 AM
Pasty and half naked at the beach is a good day in my book. Anyways, I'm having a hard time coming up with a question and have a busy day today. If ya'll are sick of waiting, then its cool if someone else wants the feather until I can come up with something.

obscurejude
04-17-2008, 04:34 AM
Okay, still pretty busy but I have something, albeit perhaps lame, but I wanted to keep the thread alive. One of the questions I liked a while back was CK's question about the bible quote which was used to describe the Crimson King's palace, "my father's mansion has many rooms." New Question:

Give me two more biblical allusions found anywhere in the series. They don't have to be exact quotes, just allusions. Don't be afraid to be creative.

MonteGss
04-17-2008, 07:39 PM
I like creative questions jude....nice one!
C'mon new folk! Join in the trivia fun!

MonteGss
04-18-2008, 09:11 AM
ONew Question:

Give me two more biblical allusions found anywhere in the series. They don't have to be exact quotes, just allusions. Don't be afraid to be creative.

What about the prophesy about the one who will bring balance to the Force?

I think that might have been STAR WARS, Monte. :P

obscurejude
04-18-2008, 09:25 AM
Monte, were you being serious?

obscurejude
04-18-2008, 09:26 AM
Anyways, if you expand it biblically, I'll give it to you.

MonteGss
04-18-2008, 09:27 AM
No, no, I was totally being a smartass.
I know it's from Star Wars...:D

obscurejude
04-18-2008, 09:28 AM
I thought so, but I didn't want to assume. Anyways, I applaud your creative efforts to bump the thread.

obscurejude
04-18-2008, 09:29 AM

Wuducynn
04-18-2008, 10:08 AM
Monte, were you being serious?

Of course he is!

obscurejude
04-18-2008, 10:14 AM
Be creative folks, Monte could have been right if he had expanded it: the prophecy of "the one" is similarly found in Genesis 3:18 "and from the seed of woman one will come who you (satan) will bruise on the heel and He will crush your head." It would have worked. Or you could have said that Christ carries a white glaring sword when he returns in Revelation 19 much as the wolves look in DT V (carrying light sabers)- perhaps false horses of the apocalypse like the Antichrist is described in Revelation 6 in contrast to Chirst in 19. Anyways, be creative, knock yourselves out- it isn't that hard. There's millions of biblical parallels that King draws on throughout the serious. Think names of locations, bible verses that are actually quoted, imagery, etc...

May the force be with you.

Mordred is bruised on the heel...hmmm why would that be significant? You see what I'm saying?

Brice
04-18-2008, 06:28 PM
Well, this way is way to easy this way, but various names throughout the series such as Gilead and New Canaan could be considered biblical references. And there is reference made to Legion in Roland and Walter's palaver.

obscurejude
04-18-2008, 06:57 PM
Brice, close enough. I'm inclined to give it to you because the biblical allusion thing is not catching on at all. You have the feather sir. Good job.

Brice
04-18-2008, 07:01 PM
I think maybe people don't know either their bibles or DT well enough. It was an interesting question. I just didn't have time to look as thoroughly as I'd have liked to.

Why don't you go ahead with another. I can't do nothing tonight.

obscurejude
04-18-2008, 08:00 PM
I don't want the feather. Who would like it, since Brice is a bitch.

Brice
04-19-2008, 02:27 AM

Oh, ok I'll post one shortly bitch!

Brice
04-19-2008, 02:48 AM

What all happened to Roland when he went into the cellar at The Way Station?

What did he see?
What did he hear?
What did he do?

Wuducynn
04-19-2008, 03:13 PM
He saw canned food and then heard sand pouring out of the hole in the wall and groaning of the Speaking Demon which told him to go slow past the Drawers gunslinger and he reached into the hole and pulled out the jawbone and then a mutie spider crawled up his arm and he shrugged it off and after climbing up the ladder left the cellar latch open for the sunlight to kill the spiders.

MonteGss
04-19-2008, 10:41 PM

she was talking about your birth?

mia/susannah
04-20-2008, 04:22 PM
Was that when Callahan was holding palaver with Roland and his ka-tet about the wolves. I think Roland said it. Not sure though

Wuducynn
04-20-2008, 04:24 PM
You've got part of it right. Roland said it, but what was he specifically talking about when he said it.

ZoNeSeeK
04-20-2008, 05:12 PM
Roland talking about the preacher in Tull?

Wuducynn
04-20-2008, 05:13 PM
No.

obscurejude
04-20-2008, 06:08 PM
If its not the coming of the wolves, is it the birth of Mordred?

Wuducynn
04-20-2008, 06:47 PM
I said it needs to be specific. Its not the birth of Mordred. Around the discussion of the coming of the Wolves was when this phrase was used.

obscurejude
04-20-2008, 06:59 PM
Sorry Mathew, I hope I didn't cause you to throw your laptop through your window.

ZoNeSeeK
04-20-2008, 07:43 PM
Who said "Let evil wait for the day on which it must fall"? and what were they talking about?

Roland discussing what to do about Andy?

Or Roland talking to Ben Slightman in the bucka wagon when he confronts him?

Wuducynn
04-21-2008, 04:50 AM
Neither.

Wuducynn
04-21-2008, 05:39 AM
The Coming of the Wolves is very close, but I'm looking for something more specific than that.

obscurejude
04-21-2008, 05:41 AM
I think maybe the answer is two fold:

1) If Andy was trying to fuck them up by bending the truth.

2) With the world moving on and all, its hard to be precise about an exact day.

Wuducynn
04-21-2008, 05:43 AM
Very good tries both, but neither are the right answer.

mia/susannah
04-21-2008, 06:00 AM
It was said after the palaver with the folks from Calla Byrn Sturgis, Roland and Eddie was talking while Eddie was whittling and Roland was cleaning the guns. Susannah and Jake were out collecting more muffinballs. Eddie and ROland were talking about how the calla folks did not understand that what was going to happen would happen. Roland said he did not push the issue because he did not want to distress the folks. Roland said "Let evil wait on the day for which it must fall"

Undress and feed her chap/hunt?

mia/susannah
04-21-2008, 09:34 AM
That is part of what I am looking for. What is another thing?

MonteGss
04-21-2008, 05:37 PM
You are counting the undressing as part of the feeding, correct? Since she "had" to undress to do her feeding....am I understanding your logic?

(not critiquing, just curious...)

mia/susannah
04-21-2008, 05:43 PM
yes, I was counting the feeding and undressing as one

MonteGss

Bury her bloody rags by the side of the road?

Letti
04-21-2008, 10:36 PM
Bury her bloody rags by the side of the road?

She didn't do it at night. Eddie could see it, too.

She created a world in her mind? Or does it still belong to the feeding?
She talked to herself and to the chap all the time with lots of different voices..
She cleaned the wheelchair when she was finished..

Your turn, maerlyn but may I get some objects as well?

sarah
04-22-2008, 11:45 AM
Letti, did I get them all right? Was I missing some?

Letti
04-22-2008, 12:16 PM
All of them were good and it's your turn but you would make me incredibly happy if you wrote some objects as well. There were some more things next to the clothes.

QUESTION:

True or False

Roland loosing his fingers was forshadowed?

Letti
04-22-2008, 09:29 PM
*blink* true?

ZoNeSeeK
04-22-2008, 09:41 PM
False. It was entirely surprising, wasnt it?

sarah
04-23-2008, 06:57 AM
Letti gets it.

When Jake and Roland are going through the mountains it is foreshadowed while Roland is rolling a smoke.

MonteGss
04-23-2008, 08:25 AM
Oh yeah...something about how he would never realize the need of his whole hand and taking for granted having all fingers....I remember.
Was this is both the Original and Revised maerlyn?

mia/susannah
04-23-2008, 09:04 AM
I would have put false as well. I didn;t realize it was foreshadowed

Wuducynn
04-23-2008, 09:06 AM
I'm pretty sure it was in the revised.

fernandito
04-23-2008, 09:37 AM
I always come in here to see if I can answer at least one of the damn questions, but I've only read the series once, so I'm overwhelmed each time.

MonteGss
04-23-2008, 09:39 AM
Really feev? Only once? I didn't know that...are you planning on a reread any time soon?

Wuducynn
04-23-2008, 09:48 AM
Yeah, Feve, its time for a re-read. c

MonteGss
04-23-2008, 09:55 AM
I don't think feev likes me...he never responds to anything I post to him.

Daghain
04-23-2008, 09:57 AM
I like you. :)

Wuducynn
04-23-2008, 09:58 AM

Bitch.

MonteGss
04-23-2008, 10:02 AM

If feev is too cool for me, that's fine. :) At least I have Daggers and my little house-wench CK.

fernandito
04-23-2008, 10:10 AM
I don't think feev likes me...he never responds to anything I post to him.

What the hell? I don't consciously ignore anyone...unless I'm mad at you or something . :innocent:

And yes, The Feverish agrees - it's time for a reread :D

Wuducynn
04-23-2008, 10:17 AM
Could Monte and Feve please get a room and someone post an interim trivia question?

Wuducynn
04-23-2008, 10:22 AM
This one is just for Feve. What company has one of its main building's in Detroit? Extra taco for you if you know the name of the building.

fernandito
04-23-2008, 10:33 AM
...Sombra Corp?

Can I still get the taco?

Wuducynn
04-23-2008, 10:34 AM
You can't even remember the name of the building? Starts with a T ends with an N. Come on..its for the extra taco!

Wuducynn
04-23-2008, 10:36 AM
You gotta want that taco, Feve. You can do it.

Wuducynn
04-23-2008, 10:37 AM
By the way, Monte has the best sig now..

Wuducynn
04-23-2008, 12:22 PM
So Letti, now that you're back, give us a question.

Letti
04-23-2008, 12:22 PM
Letti gets it.

When Jake and Roland are going through the mountains it is foreshadowed while Roland is rolling a smoke.

Thanks. :couple:
Is it my turn or do we have a new question already?

Wuducynn
04-23-2008, 12:23 PM
So Letti, now that you're back, give us a question.

Letti
04-23-2008, 12:28 PM
Who was Hiram and how many grandchildren did he have?

mia/susannah
04-23-2008, 01:34 PM

ZoNeSeeK
04-23-2008, 05:09 PM
Letti gets it.

When Jake and Roland are going through the mountains it is foreshadowed while Roland is rolling a smoke.

I'll foreshadow YOU in a second. :D

Uncle? Do you mean godfather? If so, then...

1. Costa del Sol
2. Because he loves mysteries

If that's what you're looking for, then I pass the feather because I'll be at work and you guys will be chomping at the bit for a new question. If it's not, THEN IT SHOULD BE. Ahem, I mean if it's not, good luck to the others guessing.

Actually I think the excuse he used to the teacher was that his class was downstairs/upstairs and that he snuck away. I don't think he used the "french leave" excuse at the museum...I could be wrong though.

We are talking about the same thing. I just checked...he said the thing about being upstairs to the teacher and then also referred to it as french leave. :)
