Sports fans, ESPN ranks all major professional (team) sports based on a variety of categories, which are listed in a legend.
Mine, Portland Trail Blazers, rank 30.
Check out your favorite team.

That's the right attitude!

:couple:

Here's how my favorite team(s) stack up:

48. New York Giants 48 40 61 19 100 99 48 55 31

57. Buffalo Bills 57 39 66 100 9 94 53 86 107

I'm not even going to mention my favorite basketball team, because it would ineluctably lead to a stream of unprintable imprecations, bouts of severe depression and paroxysms of violent rage. Suffice it to say, you can find it by scrolling to the bottom of your screen, then not scrolling upward...at all.

:nope: There must be some mistake here... How is it possible for the New York Yankees to score higher than the Boston Red Sox? Surely that would be a sign of the Apocalypse?

I think it may be based on the history.

They only had time to poll New Yorkers!!!

Maybe New Englanders didn't care to respond!

I really find it hard to believe that either the Yankees nor the Red Sox were near the top! Who gives a crap about beer price in the stadium!

MrsSmeej

 At least my New England Patriots outscored the New York Giants by 37 points... If only I'd been able to say that a few months ago. :(

I'm in a mixed marriage - my husband is a fan of both the Yankees and the Giants. We still can't speak about the Super Bowl... I weep. Besides, I've threatened him with a play by play recitation of the 2004 American League Championship series... Remember that one? When the Sox were down three games to the Yankees and came back to sweep the last four? Good times!

I try not to dwell on the past! Me and your hubby would get along great - my two fav teams!

How did someone in Virginia end up a Yankees and Giants fan CRinVA? Especially the Yankees? :scared: Is Steinbrenner that virulent?

Didn't always live in VA. Born and raised in New York State (Upstate Adirondack Mountains). Been a Yankees fan since I can remember watching baseball on TV - about 5 years old - that puts me square in the Mickey Mantle/Roger Maris era! I have never stopped rooting for the Yankees though I have not lived in NY State since 1975.

Virginia just ahppend to be where I finally settled down after the military and raised my family! :)

Thank goodness... I'd feared that Yankee fan-itis was becoming something as communicable as Captain Tripps. :scared: But a fan since you were five? If they got to you at that tender age then I'm afraid there's no cure. :(

I'm not looking for any "cure", just respect, as I respect other peoples' team choices!

I considered the whole thing what sports fans do right? Totally rib each others team choices?

That's all I've ever heard at games anyway.

I respect everyone that is a true fan of their team. I cannot stand those "fans" that jump off their team's wagon when they lose.
*ahem* *cough* viking "fans"...

That was my intent Matt. There is a Red Sox v. Yankees thread over on SKMB where I've had a lot of fun trash talking back and forth with another Yankees fan, but it seems that I've inadvertently offended CR. I do apologize.

CRinVA

No problem MrsS.

I suspect that being a Yankee fan in of itself means you are to be ribbed over and again! It's no big deal, I get it constantly because I wear my colors proudly!

Case in point - a few years back when the Red Sox crushed the Yankees and ended the curse I was wearing my NYY Dugout jacket to work. I was on the elevator with one other person, a elderly woman headed to the 6th floor (where all senior management is). I was getting off on the 5th floor. As the door opened she said to me "why on earth would you want to wear that when the Yankees suck so badly?" to which I replied, "why would I quit rooting for my team just because they lost? Have a nice day!"

What I really wanted to say to her was "why don't you go f*%k yourself?", but figured she was probably too high up the food chain to piss off! :-)

Edited to add this:

MrsS.,

We are on the same wavelength - I posted before reading your comment back to Matt about fans jumping ship! And I am not offended! :-)

The Blue Jays are my new home-team but the Astros are closer to my heart.

They are 67 and 69, respectively.

The Texans are 56 which isn't bad considering they suck major balls.

That is, if I'm reading these numbers correctly.

Don't know what's worse, the Angels at number 6 (WTF?) or the fact that it says "Los Angeles Angels". They don't play in LA dammit!

Yeah, but isn't Anaheim in Los Angeles County?

Nope. In the heart of Orange County.

Well, it's as geographically accurate as The New York Giants I suppose.

Just be glad that you're not a fan of The Utah Jazz.

Question: If The Bills move from here to Toronto, should I still root for them? Also, does it mean I have to try that strange concoction called "Poutine?"
