Welcome to Lividian Publications, a new small press dedicated to publishing significant works of literature in collectible and elegant editions using time-honored methods. These are modern special editions crafted with old world charm. Not only will you be proud to display our beautiful books in your office or home library, but our high-quality materials and production techniques create distinguished volumes you can pass down for generations of readers in your family to enjoy!

As my way of saying THANK YOU to all the indie retailers and publishers who have done so much for me over the years, I won't be taking orders for Revival: The Deluxe Special Edition by Stephen King directly on the LetterPress Publications website, but instead I'm asking collectors and readers to visit the websites of the retailers who are selling this title and place your order with them.

The genre does best when all of our stores and publishers are healthy and thriving, so please consider ordering your copy through one of these links:

Bad Moon Books • Betts Bookstore • Camelot Books • Cemetery Dance Publications • Dark Regions • The Overlook Connection Bookstore • PS Publishing (UK & Europe) • Stephen King Catalog • Subterranean Press

REVIVAL: The Deluxe Special Edition
by Stephen King
The first Special Edition from LetterPress Publications
Slipcased Limited Edition to be limited to exactly the number of copies preordered between May 15 and May 31!

Revival: The Deluxe Special Edition by Stephen King is being offered as "Preorder Only Limited Edition" and reservations will only be accepted through the booksellers listed above from May 15 until May 31! After that, the print run will be set in stone. That means this book is guaranteed to be OUT OF PRINT pre-publication. Order your copy or copies right now using one of those links!

About the Novel:
Artwork"I can't bear to believe his presence in my life had anything to do with fate. It would mean that all these terrible things—these horrors—were meant to happen. If that is so, then there is no such thing as light, and our belief in it is a foolish illusion. If that is so, we live in darkness like animals in a burrow, or ants deep in their hill. And not alone."
Revival by Stephen King is a dark and electrifying novel about addiction, fanaticism, and what might exist on the other side of life. This rich and disturbing tale spans five decades on its way to the most terrifying conclusion Stephen King has ever written. It's a masterpiece from King, in the great American tradition of Frank Norris, Nathaniel Hawthorne, and Edgar Allan Poe.

Special Bonus Materials:
• Sixteen full-color illustrations by François Vaillancourt, including three fold-out illustrations measuring 14 inches by 10 inches
• An introduction by Josh Boone, writer and director of the forthcoming feature film adaptation
• Exclusive artwork created by Vincent Chong for the film development process
• "A Nasty, Dark Piece of Work" by Bev Vincent: an overview of Stephen King's writing of the novel
• "Stephen King: The Rolling Stone Interview" — an epic twenty page interview with Stephen King originally published on Halloween 2014 by Rolling Stone magazine in celebration of the novel's publication

Special Production Features:
• Deluxe oversized design (7 inches X 10 inches) featuring two color interior printing
• Printed on a heavy interior specialty acid-free paper stock that is much thicker than the paper in a normal trade edition
• Featuring two colors of hot foil stamping on the front boards and spine
• Smyth sewn to create a more durable binding
• Includes genuine crafted spine hubs in the spine
• Deluxe binding with colored head and tail bands
• High-quality endpapers
• Full-color signature sheets
• Custom-made slipcase wrapped with a woven cloth and stamped with hot foil on the spine
• Extremely collectible print run that will be a tiny fraction of the print run of the original trade hardcover edition from Scribner

Who is signing?
François Vaillancourt, Josh Boone, Vincent Chong, and Bev Vincent are currently scheduled to sign the signature sheets. Stephen King will not be signing.

I can't wait to see the final tally once all is said and done. I love the fact that it went through all of the small presses. No wonder our inboxes blew up!

Third comment and third time is the charm after all. What do I win?? :)

He should at least clarify that the remarque is by Chadbourne and not Vincent Chong. He should group all pertinent info together in red or a box or something.

I try to stand by the phrase "if you don't have anything nice to say about...", but I think OC didn't do a good thing for Glenn Chadbourne in terms of the Stephen King world. Of course, he gets money for every piece, I imagine, but still...it overflooded the market so much it left no place for desire. And I think Glenn Chadbourne did some great pieces in certain books (his illustrations for The Colorado Kid were great, for example).

Still, there's people for sure buying it, so there's a market for these remarqued items.

What exactly is meant by "genuine crafted spine hubs in the spine"?

I know this is the raised bands on the spine. That style dates back to medieval bindings where it was needed for structure, and now it's an aesthetic choice. I guess the word "genuine" confuses me, since that implies it is part of the sewn binding structure as opposed to the spine ribs added in the case binding stage.

Terrific question! That phrasing came from the supplier of the binding material, and I meant to circle back and ask him what he actually meant by that, but then things got bust and I forgot. Thanks for reminding me to do so!

No! ha... Mindy has been out of town since Thursday, so I actually have no idea what the CD order is...! She has to download and confirm each order, take care of any problems, etc.

I was hoping to print the signature sheets today, but I didn't realize she'd be out of town this weekend when I made those plans. So now I'll be printing the sheets mid-week or so if all goes well. :)

I’d say 1500.......alright already, I saw it stated on another site...

haha!

I was really happy with the orders, and I look forward to publishing this special edition for everyone. :)

Brian

Brian, says there are lettereds left. Are there in fact some left?

Ugh, still getting used to this new laptop which has a trackpad the size of a football field.

I got this from Brian. I only ordered 3 copies. Trying to get close to my number. I LOVE REVIVAL.

Hi Folks!

After adding up all of the orders from the retailers for the signed & slipcased Limited Edition of Revival by Stephen King, I'm very pleased to report the official print run for this edition will be: 1,500 copies!

Support for this project has been terrific and very positive, and I look forward to producing a truly beautiful special edition for collectors.

For those who are interested in the "behind the scenes" details of how this sort of book comes together, I'll be posting lots of production updates via this newsletter, on the LetterPress Publications website, and on the LetterPress Publications social media pages (Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram) if you'd like to follow along.

Thank you again for your support of this project!

Best,
Brian

"I can’t bear to believe his presence in my life had anything to do with fate.
It’s a masterpiece from King, in the great American tradition of Frank Norris, Nathaniel Hawthorne, and Edgar Allan Poe.
Special Bonus Materials For Both Editions:

Special Production Features For Both Editions:
• Deluxe oversized design (7 inches X 10 inches)
• Two color interior printing
• Two colors of hot foil stamping on the front boards and spine
• Smyth sewn to create a more durable binding
• Genuine crafted spine hubs in the spine
• A sewn-in satin ribbon page marker
• Colored head and tail bands
• Full-color signature sheet
Special Production Features For the Lettered Edition:
• a three-piece fine binding of splendid leather and imported cloth
• upgraded, heavier interior paper stock with a textured finish
• custom-made and imported marbled endpapers
• precision trimmed page edges to properly absorb the gold or silver gilding
• housed in a slide-in traycase stamped with foil on the front, spine, and inside of the case
• print run of just 52 hand-lettered copies
• Retail Price: $1250
Who is signing?
François Vaillancourt, Josh Boone, Vincent Chong, and Bev Vincent are currently scheduled to sign the signature sheets. Stephen King will not be signing.

I haven't had a chance to post this on the LetterPress Publications website yet, but I did share it early with my Patreon supporters, so I thought I'd post it here as well:

One of the little things I've always enjoyed in the publishing and bookselling world are the odd (and sometimes very odd) promotional items publishers and film studios come up with for promoting their big projects.

This past weekend, I was just randomly thinking about the Duma Key promotional tennis balls that Scribner sent out in 2007 when I began to ponder some ideas for promotional items for the special edition of Revival...

On one hand, I don't need to produce any promotional items for Revival since both editions are guaranteed Sold Out on publication, but on the other hand it would be kind of fun to have a few items made just because... plus there are future books in the works that aren't written by Stephen King, and it would be smart to do a trial run to ensure these vendors meet my quality expectations, right??

That said, there are minimum runs and I don't need 25 or 50 of each thing sitting in my office forever, so what I'd like to do is send the Revival Promotion Items I have made right back out to random subscribers to the LetterPress Publications mailing list as my way of saying Thank You for their support.

Here's how it'll work:

1) Anyone who is a subscriber to the LetterPress Publications mailing list can enter ONCE for a chance to win something. I'll even pay shipping to whenever you live if you're a winner. Here is where you can sign-up for the mailing list if you're not already a subscriber:

https://letterpresspublications.com/pages/mailing-list

2) To enter this free giveaway, all you need to do is:

A) email me at brian@letterpresspublications.com from the SAME EMAIL ADDRESS you subscribed to the LetterPress Publications mailing list with and...
B) put LETTERPRESS PUB FREE PROMO ITEMS in the subject line and...
C) include your full name and mailing address in the body, so I know where to send your item if you win!

3) Over the next six months or so, as I have promotional items made, I'll pick random emails from the promo email collection folder and send those people something for free. (Don't worry, I'll reply to your email and confirm that your address hasn't changed, so if you move and win, you'll still get your item so long as you reply!)

4) At the end of the six months, or when I'm done making promotional items, whichever comes first, I'll DELETE THE FOLDER with the emails. I have no intention of keeping your mailing addresses on file or anything like that.

This is all basically for fun, so there's no cost involved for anyone but me, and I hope people won't try to game the system by signing up a bunch of email addresses... and, of course, I will notice if John Smith from Small Town, West Virginia emails me his mailing address from eleven different Yahoo accounts, and I might just delete those emails for being annoying. Since this is for fun, I also make the rules. All the rules. My rules and my decisions are final. Thanks for understanding. ;)

If anyone has any questions about the process outlined above, please just let me know. It will be a while before I have anything made because I'm fairly busy at the moment, so I'll post the info on the LetterPress Publications mailing list as the items arrive, which is one good reason to be a subscriber, among others.

Thank you again for all of your support!

Best,
Brian

Brian, Nice update on the Lettered edition today! You're on a roll! Thanks alot.

Thank you! I haven't had a chance to update the site, or to swing over here and post the update like I planned to do this morning, so here it is for everyone else!

After speaking with Francois Vaillancourt, we've decided to include an "original artwork page" in each copy of the Lettered Edition. You've probably seen me do this a time or two at Cemetery Dance.

I'll print up a special page on the same paper as the signature sheets that says, "This is one of 52 original pieces of artwork by Francois Vaillancourt commissioned exclusively for REVIVAL." And then Francois will go to work. He's still figuring out if these will be B&W or full color, but I’ll post some photos when they come back to me this summer. The hand-binder will then bind one artwork sheet into each lettered book block, to make each copy slightly different from all of the rest.

Best,
Brian

He could not have picked a worse person to do this with. No disrespect but these prices will be above Whelan prices... I wished he had done this with Brian and his new press. I feel it would have worked MUCH better.

I think every retailer ordered a few extra books, just in case, so I bet you can pick one up pre-pub if you want.

If you need help tracking down a retailer who has a few extras, just send me an email and I can help you out!

That's fantastic, Brian. Now I have no idea if the portfolio will be numbered, but I'd LOVE to have the option to order one matching the lettered edition.
Might that be a viable option, you think??

Also received one today.

Thank you, Brian.

You're welcome.

My original plan was to just get some "general" promo items made to test a few vendors for future projects -- stuff like mugs and mousepads and notebooks -- but then I saw the guitar picks and, well, I had to get some of those made, you know? Probably not an item that will be needed for any future projects, but for this one it was perfect.

One important note: I am going to be sending a handful of REVIVAL review copies to randomly selected people who entered the contest. If you already received something, you WILL still be eligible for the ARC drawing. It just didn't seem fair to me to exclude anyone since I think most of us really like review copies. (Or maybe my own collecting habits simply cloud my perception on that front...)

Either way, watch for news on those in October!

If I don't end up getting one of the picks (it could still be winging its way to the Netherlands, so it's too early to tell), I might just have to scour eBay for it. It complements the book so well, I really want one.

I might be putting together a set of all of the promo items to send to anyone who is suffering from carpal tunnel syndrome due to those signature sheets! It's the very least I can do!

Well, REVIVAL goes to the printer next week, and I'll have a BIG production update about that because it was an interesting process, but in the meantime...

Last weekend, I had an idea for adding another piece of artwork to each edition, and François Vaillancourt was somehow able to squeeze them into his busy schedule...

So, yep, there's more artwork! I think we'll keep these images under wraps for now to make them a surprise, but I just wanted to publicly thank François for his awesome work (again) on this book!

I lost count. It took a bunch of times to get it straight, then I had to get it even, then it was perfect but there was dust inside the glass. I actually considered letting the dust inside it, but I'm too anal for that! ;)
