So, my boyfriend is getting me into this, and I was surprised there was no thread.

If you want to see something awesome, go you YouTube and search for the one on how to date.

Also, my favorite line ever: Ruth! Thank God I saved you!

MST3K is one of the greatest shows ever. The Joel-era episodes are, of course, the best, but the Mike-era episodes are fun, too. We had MST3K nights in grad school. Great times. *wistful sigh*

The final episode aired near Mr. Woofer's birthday, so we had a big combo Happy Birthday, Mr. Woofer and Goodbye MST3K party.

There are so many awesome episodes, it's hard to recommend just a few, but definitely don't miss 421-Santa Claus Conquers the Martians, 201-The Crawling Eye, any Godzilla or Gamera episodes, 524-Manos, the Hands of Fate, 916-Prince of Space, 920-Space Mutiny, and MST3K: The Movie.

Here's a youtube video someone cobbled together of all the nicknames that Mike and the bots called the hero in Space Mutiny:
YouTube - MST3K - Space Mutiny - The many names of David Ryder

LL (my good friend and officemate) got me this T-shirt of Space Mutiny names for my birthday last:

I was just starting to get into it when they pulled it off the air. I really need to get it on DVD.

The one that sticks out in my mind most was the one where they bashed the Kathy Ireland movie.

Do they still air this on TV or is it just YouTube fodder?

It's off the air, but you can get some of the episodes from Netflix, too. I know they've had copyright issues with some of the movies, so all of them are not available. You can also buy DVDs directly from the official MST3K web store (http://www.mst3k.com/store/home.php).

Brought to you by the Booze Council because booze really satisfies. Booze takes a dull party and makes it better. Booze makes you popular and heals all wounds! B - double O - Z - E. Booze!

loved it when it was on. haven't seen it since, but i'm guessing it would still hold up as funny on dvd.

That was Alien from L.A. (http://imdb.com/title/tt0092532/) - so very bad.

My favorite episode was Mitchell starring Joe Don Baker. So many great lines from the bots.

netflix = an excellent resource when renting mst3k...
i think my favorite is prince of space,
followed very closely by manos, hands of fate.
manos might be the worst movie ever made.
EVER.

i always loved this show.

there was another show though, which I haven't been able to find, and I can't even remember the name of it.

They used monkeys, apes and chimps to remake movies, and gave them lines that totally ridiculed the originals.

Or maybe it was just a TBS commercial breaks thing? I can't remember, but I even looked on youtube before and couldn't find it.

Krankor's laugh is my Ad-Aware alert sound.

"We got movie sign!" is my time card alarm sound.

"Brought to you by the booze council" is my meeting alarm sound.

Mike Nelson stll does this. It's called Rifftrax. He sells the mp3 commentary only, so he can do it to any movie now....some bad some good...all funny.

there are also some related stuff to Stephen King...

During the 1980's, a movie, The Devil's Gift was an obvious adaptation of King's The Monkey, even though it is not creadited (but find a copy of the movie, and you will understand)

during the middle of the 90's, a movie was done (Merlin's shop of mystical wonders) by the same director of The Devil's Gift.
this movie do includes some episodes of the show you are talking about, and one of the sketch is a shorter version of The Devil's Gift (because it first was a movie...)

According to wikipedia:

This film was shown as the last new episode of the television series Mystery Science Theater 3000, although not technically the "final" episode.

.... Anyway, i reckon that the movie is only some episods of that show put together...
link:

the whole movie seems to be on youtube. here are videos of part 1 & 9

Almost started a new thread about MST3K, but decided to take a look and see if anyone else had...good thing I did. :P

I LOVED this show...used to have little mini-parties at my house where we'd watch it...my favorite was "Space Mutiny"...I have like 4 copies of that episode somewhere in my house.

Oh, and RiffTrax is pretty good...although most of the time it's just Mike, every now and then there's a "guest appearance" from either a celebrity, or someone else from the show. The Iron Man rifftrax in particular was hilarious. They also have RiffTrax Presents, which I really enjoy...(RiffTrax Presents are RiffTrax that are officially sanctioned by Mike, but feature other Mystery Science Theater 3000 alums, comedians and special guest celebrities.)

Oh, and Woofer, WHERE did your friend find that Space Mutiny shirt?? I'd lloooovvveee to have one for myself.

You can get the awesome Space Mutiny Tee here: http://www.mst3k.com/store/home.php?cat=10. That should take you to it, but in case it does not, the shirt is under Legacy Shirts, not T-shirts. I only wish it had my favorite name, Gristle McThornbody, on it. :couple:

The first episode I ever saw was Pod People (episode 302). I still remember just as a character was about to open a door hearing Crow say "Yeah Tommy, open the door and say 'Pull'".:wtf: I nearly died from laughter.

"Still, it's better than Days of Thunder." I especially love that because I especially don't love Tom Cruise.

Enjoy! Space Mutiny is always fun: the recycled footage from Battlestar Gallactica, the metallic vinyl outfits, Commander Santa Claus Doppleganger, FX by Spencer's Gifts, and, of course...
