Probably one of the worst things IMO in the series is what I affectionately the call "The Hick Narrator". I found the "storytellers" in Eyes of the Dragon and Black House to be charming and engaging. They added to the overall feel of the story.

This guy comes off as some pretentious and half-literate and I just want to punch him in the face. The Calla-speak comes off as out of place here, and the little commentaries (like the infantile jabs at Walter calling him the "left nut of Satan" for example) just bug me no to end.

Am I the only one who feels this way?

Oh yeah, the kind of "wild west" dude.

Yeah, he annoyed me sometimes, too.

Bill Hicks (http://www.billhicks.com/) is awesome! Oh, the narrator of the comic series. Yeah, he comes off as kind of a putz. Of course, I only have comic #1 so far, though I have read them all, so I may be misremembering.

you're not alone. the calla-speak seeems forced [like the revised Gunslinger seems forced to me as well] and unnecessary.

The narrator doesn't bother me.

What do you have against hicks?

The inbreeding, mostly.
