Contains "Gray Matter" by King; individually bound booklet.

The Ghost Box returns, like a mummy or a batman, to once again make your pupils dilate and the hair on your arms stand straight up—it’s another collection of individually bound scary stories, edited and introduced by comedian and spooky specialist Patton Oswalt.

Ghost Box II includes stories by:

Gertrude Atherton
Louisa Baldwin
Robert Hugh Benson
Tananarive Due
Harlan Ellison
Janet Fox
Patricia Highsmith
Joe Hill
Stephen King
Julius Long
Michael Shea

Like last year, each handmade box features a matte-black finish, an iridescent colour-shifting foil stamp on top, and a magnetized lid. The booklets once again have debossed design details and are bound with brass staples. This year’s edition also includes a ribbon bookmark, of which we’re pretty fond.

“Because when we’re terrified about the enormity of the universe’s indifference, and our smallness in the face of it, we tell stories. When we’re powerless to shape and control our fear, we tell stories. When we feel alone, we tell stories.”
— FROM PATTON OSWALT'S INTRODUCTION

All looks quite nice - extraordinary, really - to say the least.

I'm intrigued by this bit:

...spooky specialist Patton Oswalt.

Of course we all know him from comedy; is he also a horror aficionado? (If so, cool).

He is an aficionado of many things. He did an impromptu Star Wars monologue on Parks and Recreation. He's big into horror, fantasy, sci-fi. I think he knew Harlan Ellison personally. I follow him on Twitter -- he's a fascinating guy.

Correct. I ordered the first box last year, and was so impressed by it that I immediately ordered this second box when I received the email this morning.

He is apparently also contributing to the book about the "Stand by me" movie, with essays by Josh Boone and Marilyn Manson.
I would also not be surprised if a Bev Vincent may be contributing to it?

Nope -- wasn't asked to contribute.

This looks fun. I ordered the Ghost Box Bundle- the price really isn't bad when considering that it's listed in Canadian dollars (about $65 USD including shipping).

Mine arrived yesterday...another fine job by H & O. I really enjoyed last year’s box, and this one looks to be just as good.

Did people get email on ghost box#3? I didn’t realize they had this planned as a trilogy - and a special signed limited edition - by oswalt. I have the first two - so I might as well round out the trilogy.

Ordered mine! Super cool that they did a limited edition for the last release.

Earlier this year they did a limited edition of a small true-crime book, Fear on the Family Farm. It turned out really well! They have a neat aesthetic. I hope they decide to do more books :)

I didn’t get the email, either, so thanks so much for announcing the new Box. I ordered the other two from them, so would have been very disappointed to miss this third and final Box. But now: ordered! :-)

EDIT: Just checked my email for the first time today, and, sure enough, there was the email notice from H&O.

Ordered and super ticked-off I had no idea about the sold-out limited edition, which is pretty much the story of my life. Oh well.

I was surprised that limited edition sold out pretty quickly - but I don’t think there was a limit on them 1 so they might pop up if someone ordered more than one. I only ordered one copy - sorry. Glad I didn’t wait on it though

Thanks all for the heads up. I missed the SL but snagged the normal printing before they ran out.

I also received the email from H&O yesterday and totally missed it, didn't even see it hit the inbox, probably would have missed the boat entirely if it weren't for you lot.

Anybody heard of the "The 2021 Short Story Advent Calendar" from the same publisher?

I wonder what authors are in it

Here are some of the stories but they don't list them all because they want the reader to be surprised.
I haven't opened any of mine yet.

I am trying to help someone find a copy of GB II. As has been pointed out, they are hard to find! Does anyone know a ballpark price, or even better, is someone ready to part with their copy?

Thanks!!!!

I have three different versions - two are opened and unread, and the third is still sealed.

The two open are dated 2017 and 2018, so I assume the unopened one is 2019?

I could be tempted to a part with them, but have no idea what sort of pricing is out there for them. What would be a reasonable offer? Could I get that new espresso machine I'm eyeballing? And that sweet grinder too? Or just a bag of fancy coffee?

The Short Story 2022 Advent Calendar is now on sale.
Two formats, 100 copy edition and another.
These normally sell out.

So does the thought that Box #1, which I also have (and #3), could demand even more. $1000 for a three-box auction suddenly doesn't seem such a wild stretch...:orely:

Yeah I have 1-3 - $1000 ? VERY TEMPTING.

I know I posted some books in another thread to see if anyone had interest (nope) so I've also been tempted to toss them on eBay and see what sort of attention I could get. eBay just scares me lately - the fees I can work with, just all of the fraud - I really don't want to sell something and then the buyer screws me over and eBay is not on the seller's side.
