only book that I truly haven't read yet (although I rated roadwork that way since I have no recollection of it). I have about 20 pages to go on "hearts in suspension" then it is on to this.

That's to be expected, it came out what, 10 months ago? But it's gotta count!

It really wasn't one of his better efforts IMHO

Same. Looking at the voting so far there are 9 "never reads". I guess we aren't alone.

Well, I was looking forward to reading this, but looking at the scores, I wonder. Oh well, in for a penny in for a pound.

Ouch, the ratings here are not kind, huh...

I quite liked it (I'm one of the 4s). It may not be one of King's best but (to me anyway) his lesser works are still better than many books from other authors. I guess we've just been spoiled by the sheer quality of the books King put out in the 70s, 80s and 90s. With a few notable exceptions (Duma Key, Joyland among others) the quality of King's work has 'declined' a bit in the new millennium but I still rate everything 3 or higher.

I gave it a 2 because I was feeling generous.

I can't really agree with "better than many books from other authors". More King writes, lower he rates on my favourites list. His older works are still untouchable, but other than a few notable exceptions, his bibliography would be a lot more consistent without his newer works.

I agree that there are some great authors whose work is better than King's recent output but (IMO) overall, King is still better than most other writers in the same genre. I will say that I don't read as much as I used to and I'm certainly not exposing myself to lots of new writers, so I admit to having a limited perspective.

I gave it a 2. I can't remember the last time I struggled to get through a SK novel.

Never read.

And honestly, from all I've heard about it, I've never been so scared of reading a King story.

I just started reading it today. Do you think we could get on extension of this one so I can finish it? JK of course, I think even if I gave it a 5, this one is doomed to be eliminated.

I haven’t yet read it. I bought it when it first came out, but I keep putting it off. I fear it is more of a sociopolitical commentary than a novel. As I don’t agree at all with Kings politics, I am afraid this one is going to be quite a struggle for me. I will read it, but I don’t have high hopes.
