I've only read this book once and didn't remember much of it until I read the wiki entry. I guess I'll give it a 3. Not one of my favorites but certainly not one of my least favorites either.

Quite a satisfying, well done book.

2 This book was horrible. I was debating between a 2 and 1 but since there's other King books I dislike more I decided on a 2. Upon my first read I thought it was just ok, but I just re-read it recently and it was a lot worse than I remembered it being. I think it would have been a lot better if it wasn't related to The Shining. There were just too many tie-ins that felt completely forced. And aside from Danny I don't think any of the characters were that fleshed out. The villains were horrible villains, and actually quite weak which surprised me. This one reminds me of all those great horror films that have a sequel made to cash in on the success of the first.

I enjoyed this a lot more than I thought I would. Great villains, and grown up Danny was great.

4.

So it's NOT a book about dropping Ambien into Dr.Pepper?

Good book..poor title..I gave it 4.

My favourite scenes were Dan struggling with alcoholism. Truly gut wrenching. Villains were a bit dim, weren't they?

Yes, they sure were. Wish they were alot stronger, even I would have been able to defeat them

I liked it mainly as a character study of Danny. As others have said, the villains were pushovers.

I was also not crazy about the idea that Jack would cheat on Wendy. Obviously I don't expect for King to have known his sequel plans this far back but 'The Shining' gives a pretty in-depth look at Jack's life and there was nothing to suggest he would have been unfaithful even when he was drinking.

Yes, that really bothered me as well.
