I think I am ready to finally start my own book collection thread.

What is the best way to do this? Is it easier to post my gallery link or individual posts with different pictures from my collection? I've seen both versions on here and am not sure what the best way would be. Thanks.

It's a bit more work, but I would say post the images on the thread. It's easier for members to see the collection and comment.

Let's start with the CD editions I have, so far.

I don't have near the collection as most of the users on here, but I'm working at it, slowly but surely.

I'll start with the remarqued editions:

This is my The Shining AE w/remarque

And here are the rest of the CD books I have in my collection, so far. These are all Gift Editions. Eventually, I will upgrade, but I'm trying to fill out my 1st editions first. But that will be another posting. Thanks.

Thanks, I tried with the camera on my phone but that wasn't cutting it. I had to break out the Canon DLSR, add a fleece blanket to a couple bar stools, and viola!!, instant photo studio :)

It was my wife's idea. I probably would have used one of those cardboard disposables if I thought it would be easier :)

Agreed! Love seeing a new collection thread show up in "What's New?". I use my wife's fleece throw as well for my studio. I throw it over the kitchen table and BOOM! The magic happens

Here are the Dark Tower books I have, so far :) Nothing amazing, but I'm building.

Here is my 1/1 Gunslinger. It's in less than stellar condition. I purchased for $50 at an auction as a placeholder until I can find a better copy.

Yeah, I actually had the slip cases before I had all the books. I couldn't wait to get them filled.

So that's who took the letter Y :)

I wasn't sure what to title this posting. It is a mix and match of 1st editions, both UK and US, plus some other pretty cool items.

The Stand. This is one of my favorite King books of all time. I still have the first copy I ever read. It was my mom's book club edition (pictured below). I read it when I was around 10 years old.

OK, that's all for now. If you have the urge, feel free to check out my gallery (http://www.thedarktower.org/gallery/showgallery.php?cat=963). There are more 1st editions and other stuff, but mostly newer books. I'm still working on filling in the holes. I've got a long way to go. Eventually, I'd like to have all of the US and UK 1st editions. Thanks for looking and for the nice comments. I know my collection doesn't hold a candle to most of the collections on this forum, but I'm working on it!!

There are no color variants. What you have there is extreme spine fade. The Red dye gets very easily bleached by sunlight and becomes yellow. There have been numerous photos of this at various stages of fading.

Stroppy is correct. EOTD spine is THE most likely King book to suffer from spine fade. I have all of my copies shelved with the spine inwards.

First of all, great pictures! THE STAND is also my favorite Stephen King book and I must re-read it again one of these days.

Second of all, I didn't know DRAGON was the most susceptible King book to spine fade. Thank (deity of your choice here) that my copies always seemed to wind up on the bottom shelf and out of any sunlight.

How do you think I feel? If I remember correctly, someone sold that to me, telling me it was a scarce variant. I fell like an idiot now. I bought that one before I started researching my purchases. That, and now I can ask on here if I have a question.
If I keep my good one in a Brodart and behind a glass door on a bookshelf that never gets direct sunlight I should be okay, shouldn't I?

I would also put the original trade Shining up there as one of the most susceptible to sunlight fade. The quality of the DJ paper was very poor.

Yes, direct sunlight is the worst offender, whilst ANY light will eventually fade print over a long period of time, you should not see any issues keeping your books protected.

(of course, if someone created an EOTD slipcase....)
