During the first round of The Best Movie Scene Tournament, please vote for up to six movie scenes you would like to move onto the next round. The top six movie scenes will be moving on. Keep in mind that the percentage of the vote a given movie scene receives will determine its standing going forward.

IMPORTANT! Please do not simply vote on name recognition (or lack thereof) alone. Please do watch each nomination and then make your choice. Even if you think you know a movie scene well, it's still worth watching for a refresher.

Please remember that his tournament is for Best Scene, not Best Movie.
It's important to therefore judge each nomination on its individual merits and NOT by the entire movie.

The poll will run for seven days. Discussion is greatly encouraged!

The nominees are:

Dawn helicopter attack - Apocalypse Now (1979)

Mike, you better vote for the birthday dinner scene. So far I'm the only one.

Miriam's Last Breath still gives me chills. Hitchcock relished showcasing evil in beautiful and innovative ways.

That shot focused in on her glasses is one of my all-time favorite shots from any film. I loved his use of camera work in his films.

The two best scenes in this group are going to be eliminated :(

Those two scenes are matched up against some of the most iconic moments in the history of cinema. To suggest that they are the best in this group is quite frankly, ridiculous! :nope: :wtf:

The dinner scene from East of Eden is a heartbreaking scene. Besides the fact that it's an older film, I suspect it might be suffering because people don't know the context of the scene. Of course, it's also one of the more stacked polls.

The camera angles are also a highlight for me in that scene. I only wish the clip could have been extended to show the scene on the porch with the swing.
