During the first round of The Best Movie Scene Tournament, please vote for up to six movie scenes you would like to move onto the next round. The top six movie scenes will be moving on. Keep in mind that the percentage of the vote a given movie scene receives will determine its standing going forward.

IMPORTANT! Please do not simply vote on name recognition (or lack thereof) alone. Please do watch each nomination and then make your choice. Even if you think you know a movie scene well, it's still worth watching for a refresher.

Please remember that his tournament is for Best Scene, not Best Movie.
It's important to therefore judge each nomination on its individual merits and NOT by the entire movie.

The poll will run for seven days. Discussion is greatly encouraged!

The nominees are:

The nursing scene - The Bear (1988)

Yes.

In all seriousness, this is real life. It's a beautiful scene, but a movie scene to me is comprised of actors that are following words that were written in a script and directed by a director, edited by an editor etc.

That's just me.

The Bear is not a nature documentary, it's a fictional story with animal actors. :lovely:

For real? I always thought it was one of those nature docs.

I couldn't watch it. That licking noise is like nails on a chalkboard to me. I can't stand it when my dogs make that noise.

Can't believe Singin' in the Rain is losing to Mad Max.

I agree, but not surprised. Classics don't really seem to be thriving in this competition. A lot are going to get knocked out in this first round :(

I gave them (some of them) some love. I even nominated one from a movie I've never seen, and one from one I think I have seen but not sure.

Interesting? Thanks for the info.

Unfortunately, that's a common trend around here come tournament time. Many of us love the classics, but many just haven't seen them. As we know, that shouldn't matter, people should be voting on the quality of the scene. That said, when it comes down between a scene from a movie you love and grew up with and a scene from a film you've never seen, we know what's going to happen.
