Paul - What time will the remaining copies go on sale on Monday?

Brian, 8am Pacific. Be ready!

So at 10am CST, I have to dial in to a work meeting, purchase Ed Sheeran tickets, and try to buy the S/L. Challenging but doable!!0

I have no doubt you will do it!

I'm going to guess that tickets will be much cheaper on the secondary market than this signed King book... if you had to choose :orely:

"Purchase a Silver level Lifetime Membership to guarantee your Letter for life, and simply sell the books you don't wish to keep, whilst maintaining ownership of your designated 'Letter'.

That occured to me as well, but unfortunately no way to swing that financially, for me personally. May just have to be happy that this one opportunity came along and I was able to swing it.

In the book Paul Sheldon prints the letter 'n'. So Paul Suntup could do the same, and emulate the handwriting from the book.

Yes, it’s a large, well established company who hosts it. It’s a very stable e-commerce platform with rock solid servers. I was assured by them that it will be fine. Famous last words right!? But really, it’s stable.

Back when Paul offered the EOTD portfolios, I was too strapped for cash to indulge. The unanimous rave reviews from all of you certainly didn’t make my abstention any easier. After the Covers Collection was released, to redoubled adulation, I quickly subscribed and have been enjoying these high quality additions to my portfolio each month ever since. Aside from the usual interactions here at TDT, having met Paul in person solidified him to me as a kind, dedicated man passionate about books, artwork, and the printing/publishing business he continues to build. I am overjoyed to have locked in numbered and gift editions of his upcoming MISERY project. But far outweighing my happiness about any addition to my personal collection, I am thrilled for Paul and his growing success at an endeavor he loves and at which he truly excels.

I be able to afford it. I know Paul has a number of things in the works, and I am mainly a King collector. So, I hope that he does more Suntup King books and the other books are
in the area that I like to keep me getting more. Just not one every month :pullhair:. But Paul is doing some amazing work and I would to support him in his efforts.

Any idea of why the page regarding the LIFETIME SUBSCRIPTIONS : https://suntup.press/suntup-editions-lifetime-subscription/

Have some items as SOLD OUT and some others are NO LONGER AVAILABLE.
The last ones sounds like they have not been sold?

I dont know if financially that's viable on a long term, but that's definitely the way to bootstrap the company as they are wort a total of 207K

If everyone who owned a Lettered EOTD portfolio bought their matching letter, then neither of the two subscriptions that included all lettered's could be honoured. I assume thats why they are no longer available. I am also assuming that the 2 people who bought Gold subscriptions were already owners of Lettered EOTD's

I’m guessing that they were all wrapped together - once a higher (gold) sold then a silver disappeared - so there were only so many lettered books available for subscription. If gold and patron sold then those silver would no longer be available; same idea if a silver sold - then a gold would disappear. Just my assumption. Good lunch to all trying to get a s/l this morning

That worked...thanks. Something about the Chrome browser and the Suntup site didn't mesh. Internet Explorer worked, though by the time I got it all sorted out the Numbered was gone. Oh well, just as well, given that I was leaning toward the Artist's Edition anyhow (though that 4-payment plan was tempting).

I had the same luck- Once I got the actual order page to come up it still showed a Limited available. By the time I clicked the proceed to payment button it was sold out. At that point, the negative number was only at -3.

I did snag an Artist's edition. The price showing up in the cart was $115 instead of $110. I thought maybe the shipping had already been added in, but I still had to select the shipping option at checkout. It's only $5 (not a big issue considering I was trying to spend $525 right before that) but just a little weird that the pricing in the cart and order screen was out of sync with the pricing on the main product page.

Well.. I think I got one..lol.. I processed an order for a limited- with the 4 pay plan- but it took me back to my cart.. no email confirmation..

that happened to me when i processed an order during the pre-order. If you completed the payment plan i think you are good.

I also still had the items in my cart after purchasing via the payment plan. I did get a confirmation email though. I imagine it might take a least a few minutes to make it to your inbox.

Not cool.
Ordered and paid through Paypal (including sales tax). When it directed me back to Suntup, I was kicked off.
I just realized (obviously my mistake), there is a limit of one per household. I already pre-ordered, so all is well.
<---Apologizes to Paul for my mistake.

How the fuck were you able to pre-order?

By having the Eyes of the Dragon art thing and being able to match your number, I presume.
Correct.

From Suntup:

The gift edition print run will be determined based on pre-order demand, but is capped and will be very limited for a Stephen King book.

I am also curious as to what number this works out to. As I said, I'm not interested in Misery, but I will be watching what Suntup does in the future, and hope to have a shot at a gift edition at some point.

Hi All. I am just coming up for a quick breath here, before diving back into this. We were completely blasted once the store opened up for orders. Everything that could beep or buzz, was beeping and buzzing. And there were some dings in there too. There were a couple of glitches, which were resolved as fast as humanly possible, within a minute or less. Some good lessons were learned, and for a release as massive as this one , I am really pleased with how it all went.

I'm sorry some missed out. The reality is that the remaining copies of the Numbered sold in under 2 minutes. I checked the time clock. There's always going to be some disappointed people when demand is so much greater than supply.

I am always available if you have any questions or concerns. Feel free to email me directly at paul[at]suntup[dot]press.

Thank you for your support of the press! I am truly committed to making some of the best books available today for you to enjoy.

I had the same luck- Once I got the actual order page to come up it still showed a Limited available. By the time I clicked the proceed to payment button it was sold out. At that point, the negative number was only at -3.

Sorry if this has been answered. I didn't see an exact timeframe.

How long will the gift editions be available for pre-order? I know that the limitation number is going to be based off of how many orders there are pre-order and then I am assuming some more to come up with a round number. Will there be an announcement of when they will quit taking pre-orders for the gift edition? Right now it says that you can order the gift while supplies last but it's my understanding that actual supplies have yet to be determined.

I had dinner with Paul last night and I am happy to report he survived the day. I am guessing he put in an 18+ hour day so we may not see too much from him here today. It was great to visit with him and we had some good conversations. We talked about Searching for Sugar (if you haven’t seen it I would recommend ithttp://www.imdb.com/title/tt2125608/). We also talked about Misery. All I’ll say about that is I think Paul is more excited than anyone else and I think that is true on all of his projects and why they are so incredible.

With EOTD sold out, a great place to start with Suntup is the Covers Collection. As I mentioned on Sunday, it’s top-notch.

I don't think the TEOTD portfolio is sold out. Paul temporarily set the count to 185 to limit the purchases prior to Misery's release. He should soon reset it to allow the sale of the portfolios above number 185.

I don't know about others here, but I sure wish I knew about Paul's work a while ago. It would make it a lot easier to get new ones. But, what can you do. Some people can collect everything and some can not. I am in the second category. So, I just try to do the best I can. I will say that his Firestarter, IT and Misery are some really fantastic books. So keep them coming Paul, even though everyone may not have a chance to get them.

The great thing about Misery, is that this time around there's a version that is in the general public's affordability. The rebounds looked unbelievably amazing for what they are, but I hope for more along the lines of Misery.

I do agree. I just wish it was easier to get one then having to have the previous publication to guarantee that you would get one. But that's just my thinking and I DO NOT think it's wrong for Paul to do that. It just makes it more difficult for people totally on the outside.

I don't think the TEOTD portfolio is sold out. Paul temporarily set the count to 185 to limit the purchases prior to Misery's release. He should soon reset it to allow the sale of the portfolios above number 185.

Well that would be interesting. I just wonder what other books are going to published. Again, I am mainly interested in King. I would not like to buy this, then have to buy another book that I may not want in the hopes that the next book would be a King book. It may be weak on my part, but it's how I feel. If that makes me a narrow collector, Oh well. We are who we are.

Now that I have secured the letter"N" & am only collecting King & say the next lettered book you print is by Joe Blow.... but the 3rd will be another King book. How do I go about passing on the Joe Blow book & keep the letter "N" for the King book & because I did not double dip on the Dragon portfolio I will have to line up Monday hoping to snag a numbered edition & if I do can I hold that # for just the numbered King books?

Just bumping this question as it went unanswered & I did manage to snag a lettered so the answer is now more important then before. (I have had #301 with Donald M. Grant for for 26 years & have only bought King books.)

Hi Paul,

Believe it or not I have a non-misery question.

I noticed your note on the most recent cover recarding saving the plastic sleeves and backing boards. I decided to take your advise and remove them all (still keeping them though) and put them in the archival box. Since some of them did not fit while still in the plastic sleeves, they were outside the box. I am anal about putting things in chronological order. I am undecided if to order them based on the publish date of the cover, or printing date of the print. If the later, I no longer remember the order you printed them in.

Is there somewhere where you have the print dates of the covers?

Thanks,
Mike

Those who purchased Misery will have first chance at the next book. Those who buy that book will have the first chance at the next. Even if I don't necessarily want the next book, I'll likely buy it since it will be awesome.

I have seen some publishers will group by author where you get your Letter/number for that author. Others do by series where that number/Letter for that series only and when they next series come up you have to have the luck of the draw. Then there is the 1 letter for everything and you get first dibs on the next. Sounds like Paul is in the last boat where a number/letter is always good but that gets you rights to the next book no matter AND you have to have that letter when it comes back around for King. I personally prefer the letter per author or series as that allows me to skip. If I wanted every book I would get a subscription but once again that is my personal preference and Paul runs his business how he likes to and that is his prerogative.

Based on the stated ownership model (owners of the previous title have rights to the next title), my guess is that you would have to purchase the book by Joe Blow, and resell it after you get the next book. That way you are always in possession of the "most recent title" and get to keep your rights. Just a guess, though!

man so you not only have to buy it but then hold it. Which is where it differs from say CD whoever bought the previous number gets first right even if the sell it since so many other stores get their books but you can transfer rights by emailing if needed

This is the boat I am in - for the foreseeable future I am not a book collector I am a Suntup collector! I am pretty happy about it - I made the decision last fall to pare down my collection and go from quantity to quality and I don't think there's anyone putting out higher quality books than Paul.

That said, I am really hoping that he will venture outside of doing only King books - there are a lot of other books out there that, with his creativity, could be turned into marvelous limited editions. I realize that's not a popular opinion on these boards, though...

I hope Paul keeps the number letter rights no matter if it’s Joe Blow or King. Imagine the nightmare for him too if he were to do it by author... that’s too much to handle for one chap. I think whatever he does by whoever... will be as we are accustomed too now. Out of this world amazing.

For clarification, ALL of the EOTD portfolios are sold out, not just the the ones numbered through #185. That’s what Paul told me a few days back and he confirmed it again today. Bummer for me, I wanted to buy one regardless of its number. Happy for Suntup Press though!

Paul - Keep up the great work and pace yourself.

Steve, great to see you again and always a pleasure to talk about one of our favorite topics. Thanks again!

I COULD BE WRONG? But I believe with "IT" & MISERY..... Paul has just "SET THE BAR" for King collectibles! These are NOT just books ....They are WORKS OF ART!

Very kind of you Bruce.

Paul, I’m looking forward to seeing what other authors you have in the pipeline, especially if they’re outside the horror genre.

I’d love for you, or one of our other respected independent presses, to do something like a signed limited edition of Margaret Atwood’s MaddAddam (Oryx and Crake, etc.) trilogy. Not that I expect you’re looking for ideas. :)

Okay... so I know we are still in Misery hype.. but I am one of those collectors who collects multiple authors so I will probably enjoy the Joe Blow authors (great suggestion on Atwood. I'd die for a S/L Handmaid's Tale), I was wondering if we will have to wait until Misery is published before the next book is announced or should we expect Suntup to be moving along at a faster pace with it's new book offerings?

You can't go wrong with TDC and I'm sure Suntup would nail it, but have you looked at existing fine editions of this (secondary market, of course)? They're definitely out there; Folio Society and Easton Press come to mind, and there are others. When it comes to illustrations, those from Dore and Botticelli are amazing.

In theory, a signed bookplate would be possible - if in the unlikely event, there are surviving examples of Alighieri's signature still available....

However in that eventuality, I doubt anybody would be able to afford it.

Any extra GE purchase, outside of your subscription, is eligible!

Multiple entries for multiple copies purchased. (Like the fundraiser - go donate -haha!)

Do prior purchases qualify? I bought 3 of them when I preordered the lettered and numbered...

Now that Suntup got such advertising and funding, I wonder if there will be more DRAGON REBOUND books?

I love that idea... BUT my next first choice would be: Different Seasons! Then Needful Things or the Mist!

Needful Things and Different Seasons are (along with IT), my favourite King books of all time, so that suggestion is absolutely BANG ON!!!:clap:

Different Seasons is my #1 desire. I loved the Haven Fund version auctioned off last year and would love to see something that epic in an S/L form. 4 different authors.. yikes that is awesome to think about.
