For this playoffs poll, please choose one track to move on to the Finals.

IMPORTANT! Please do not simply vote on name recognition (or lack thereof) alone. Please do listen to each nomination and then make your choice. Even if you think you know a track well, it's still worth giving it a listen for a refresher.

The poll will run for seven days. Discussion is greatly encouraged!

The nominees are (please let me know if any video doesn't play for you):

This matchup should have been The Final.

Fun trivia note: these two tracks were the first two seconded during the nomination process ("The Sound of Silence" from the second semifinal was fourth).

HotRS is one of my all time favorite songs :(mine too
especially Dylan's verions, of course, but since we are not considering it, I so wish the Animals' one would move on

doesn't look like it's likely to happen, though

This match up was so tough, in the end I decided to go with Stand By Me. It's such a great song. I really do love House of the Rising Sun as well though, and wish both could move on.

it's all that horrible time thing!! we have to make 60s face 60s, and 70s compete with 70s!.. while if they were bracketed with any of the later songs, they would nix those in no time

mae
12-09-2016, 10:55 AM
I doubt that. It will be a very very fun Tournament Final (and unpredictable!) where the winners of all 14 time periods will face off against one another. Two '60s and two '70s tracks can certainly meet up, too. Cannot wait!

I agree, wish a lot of these earlier songs could make it to the finals. There's some crappy ones left in the later time eras.

We're still awaiting at least one person to vote before it closes tomorrow. Hope tiebreakers won't be needed.

Very very very close. "The House of the Rising Sun" averaged a stunning 92.95% in five polls through the Quarterfinals. With the Semifinal tally, it amassed an aggregate 512.39% (out of a possible 600%), the biggest in the tournament so far. The second biggest? "The Sound of Silence" at 476.17%.

Easy. Only 10 people voted for it, and 11 people voted for "Stand By Me".

The better song won. :FU: LOL! J/K

Interestingly though, Stand by Me has just been voted the greatest song of all time in a magazine Poll, with John Lennon's Imagine in second place....

I get the feeling that sharing the title of a fairly beloved movie based on a SK story helped the winner.
