Was pain correct?
Did you write this riddle razz?
I like it.
The line " I make man plant and animal quake" may be a key.
While I have no clue to the answer...I like this.
It appears well constructed and thought out.
This appears that thought and skill were used.
I suspect there may have been some " research" too.
Without knowing the answer...this may be a display of art... a skill.

Is it hunger?
Bacterium or microbes in general?
A specific process...like digestion...respiration... or a specific microbe?
The Kreb's cycle? Citrus cycle? Production of ATP?... electron transport chain?

Guessed at post 12, I just assumed it was wrong.

I thought of tapeworm too, but that bookcase and snake line is messing with me.

care to break down the riddle? I can see most of how it fits, but would be interested in your thought process in making it up.

I thought it was pretty good actually, Thanks for the breakdown.
Lines 4 and 5 were the ones I was unsure of, I got the snake bit (tapeworm) but hadn't thought about funghi relation to the bookshelf. The sight and mind links weren't quite so obvious!
I thought the "sight an mind" clues were the best.
Good riddle, sir.
