What if you took a King title that no publisher can reprint?

Recruited six renowned artists to create eight original pieces.

I know it's a tease, but that's fun...

Imagine, if you will, a website Director who does monumental things for the benefit of others, that cannot contain his enthusiasm for the things he helps to create. Look out for the sign post up ahead, it says "Welcome to the "Collector- Zone"!!! LOL LOL

Time will provide you clarity
Look inside...and outside
Only through obscufaction will things become clear

Larger? So must be the Bachman books. 8 pieces means two pieces for each story... and if RF can pull a rabbit out of a hat like usual with the binding I bet it will be amazing. Just a guess though

I understand that not everyone likes Chadbourne, or perhaps any artist on the list.
Perhaps I'm too sensitive (and if so please let me know), but I'm teasing something that I have worked hard on.
Without even seeing the art, I think it's slightly uncool to crap in the thread.

That was the FIRST copy to hit eBay by an unknown seller.

The SECOND copy, which was donated by CD for the 2016 Haven, is the one RF is referring to that sold for $1.7+.

Crazy prices!

Since we are teasing the shit out of this one.........

There is a rather amazing and one of a kind piece done by, Mr. Dameron. So original it nearly didn't make the project!!!! Special precautions and treatments were required. I don't believe you will ever find another piece like this bound into another book anywhere, Jerome, would you agree?

Real blood tends to oxidize and darken then starts eating the paper. Sounds great, but is a bad idea.

Two books. Each book has one original piece for each of the four stories. One book has silver trim on the raised hubs, the other has bronze trim.
They are complimentary pieces.

Will they be sold as one auction or are you going to really make us fight for it and bid twice?

So one book is the Bachman books, or are they both copies of the Bachman books just different illustrations and binding?

EDIT: must be two copies of the Bachman Books since there are two different Road Work pieces.

Not The Bachman Books related, but I love this piece
Erin Wells donated this.
It's on heavy board and the outside is ~22"x15" perfect for a smaller matted original. This is pencil and watercolor. Done for the Kevin Quigly book published by Cemetery Dance (http://www.cemeterydance.com/page/CDP/PROD/_chapbk027).

What is the record for the most money raised by a single auction so far?
I'll have to look back carefully, but a quick search shows a Duma Key with a Maitz remarque that was signed by Stephen King. $1.5K

Maybe the 'Salem's Lot CD Proof that sold last year? $1.6k?
$1,728.69 gross including shipping.

Glad to see someone is paying attention.

Do you think this was a one time occurence or would another copy of the proof garner a similar amount?

jhanic
01-20-2016, 09:33 AM
My gut feel is that it was a one-time occurrence. I'd estimate similar sales would be in the $500-600 range for the more common of the two CD ARCs.

I was able to get the less common one signed by Stephen King. Hope his signature adds some value to the ARC! It was not my copy. I did it for a friend. He was able to get 5 arcs signed in a single week.

The timing for auctions sucks right now. Sundays usually are a good day to start/end and auction, but tomorrow is the Superbowl, and a week away is Valentines day. It's no better on Monday, as the 15th is (in the USA) President's day and thus a holiday for state and federal workers.

I'm sworn to secrecy, but do your own research. There are still "staunch, artist supporters", yet to weigh in with items and while we do offer our fair share of "tried and true" offerings there are always really unique, one of a kind items to be had. The big question is, should I leave the original binding with DJ on it, or have it bound in leather like last years one that had Chadbourne art in it:

You didn't need to. The two characters in that remarque are instantly recognizable! LOL! :D

So should I leave the book as is (trade binding, 1st DJ), or have it leather bound like last year's book that had Chadbourne art in it?
Custom bound will be quite a bit more expensive...but worth it.

With such an awesome remarque, I think custom bound is the way to go. Last year's book was absolutely STUNNING!!!!:clap::drool:

And you always say I can't keep a secret!!! LOL Put me down for half the cost of the binding, J. Are you thinking of doing the same binding as last year or, something a little different?

Randall Flagg
03-03-2016, 06:13 PM
Something ever so slightly different. The major difference is the art. Dameron's art was not in last year's book.
That by itself makes this a 1/1.

Well, yes of course. I guess I was referring to the actual binding. Maybe we try not to emulate the S/L this time? Maybe just a standard black with silver lettering? Just a thought. You're the re-binding master. I trust your judgement.

Go the whole way and do the case with the Vial and Syringe in it - now that's a collectible!

I never saw this actual book, but think this would look amazing bound similarly, depending on whether it still meets the other considerations. VERY interesting! Starting to save my pennies, though this SHOULD far exceed what I'll be able to bid.

BTW, the case with the "antidote" serum inside was Peter Schneider's original concept for the Doubleday S/L of The Stand. There are pics of his sketch in the Peter Schneider thread.
