Didn't see a thread for this show. Pardon me if there is one already.

So, what did everyone think of the series premiere?

I thought it was wonderful and bodes well for the continued series. Very "Army of Darkness/Evil Dead 2" IMHO. Ash is back and kicking Evil's ass!!!

Thoughts?

It was bad though. I will say that the special effects were good though. But that's it....

You're entitled to your opinion just as I am. I thought it picked right up where AOD left off. I look forward to coming episodes.

Shit. I just realized that I'm still taping things...I may have DVR'd this in lieu of taping.

I actually believe they are ignoring AOD. He never mentioned the events when he told his backstory and he didn't have the fancy gauntlet hand he got in that movie. I could be wrong but it just seems like they want to keep it simple and only follow ED2. I also agree it was wonderful. It is 100% in the spirit of the second film and exactly what I would expect from Raimi and Campbell. I have my doubts that it can be maintained as a series BUT I hope it stays as fantastic as the first episode was.

You could be right.I just assumed it was chronological, but there was no direct reference. I'm optimistic for the series. The premiere was encouraging.

Hey everyone. I got to see the first episode at Comic Con a few weeks ago and absolutely loved it. And it is correct that they are not following AOD which is because they don't actually have the rights to use it. Each movie was produced at a different studio and they only got rights to ED & ED2. During the Q&A they said they were hoping to eventually acquire rights but it's not a definite thing.

Also that is the same 88 Oldsmobile in the series and Bruce hates it. He keeps trying to kill it but Raimi keeps bringing it back - I guess it was his family car and he's put it in every movie he's done (it became a wagon in The Quick & the Dead). I thought that was amusing.

I did get a terrible photo. It's hard to tell but the cast/creators were there as well as Kevin Smith officiating the event.

I guess they wouldn't offer the episodes online for awhile at least, right? If you had an "HBOGO" account could you see them then?

I don't think Starz would be very happy with HBO showing their TV shows.

I hope this show is good. I love the movies though I'm probably in the minority where Army of Darkness is my least favourite.

I liked the Evil Dead's but found this almost silly like. I shut it off and me the wife moved on. Couple people I hear liked it though. I loved Bruce is Burn Notice. That was an awesome show!

Honestly it is the exact same humor and feel as Evil Dead 2. Many of the gags were lifted straight off of the movie. If you cut it off before it ever got to Ash fighting the Evil Dead then I can understand as the feel of his character changes once he decides to help take care of the demons vs saving himself.

Yeah, my only real gripe was how much fan service was in this first episode- the same exact gags that we've seen before. Still, it was fun and I enjoyed the hell out of it. Looking forward to the rest of the season!

Finally, I made it in here :)
Did a rewatch of all the Evil Dead movies and watched the premier last night. I really enjoyed it, and I'm so glad Ash is back.

No its definitely my least favorite as well.

AOD was my intro into all of this, back when it first come to video, so it'll always have that certain level of nostalgia for me. I didn't discover Evil Dead until a couple of years later.

I watched Evil Dead back in college with a few friends. The second we finished we were all like "we need to see the rest!!!". Well it's really late at night, and Blockbuster is closing soon, we have no car, so we all proceed to run a mile or two down the road to Blockbuster. Run in there as they're closing, and they're all looking at us like we're crazy, and told us we should have just called and they would have waited  It's a moment I'll never forget.
