a new thread to have some fun and allow Bruce (Needful Things) to show off his quite amazing Collection. The idea is to challenge Bruce to show an item in his collection that is associated with a Book, TV Show or Film that you can come up with. This could be the book itself, the DVD/LaserDisc/VHS,Film Reel of the movie/TV Show, a signed autograph from one of the stars, etc. As long as Bruce can show something FROM HIS COLLECTION with a strong association then he wins.

We may need to set some more ground rules later on, but lets see how it goes :)

No Prizes - all just good fun.

Lets also not bombard him and take it in turns, so when one challenge is completed the next poster can try.

Here is mine to start it off:

Turtle's Progress - UK TV Crime Caper aired in the late 70's

Push, Nevada - US TV Mystery aired in 2002

A critically acclaimed masterpiece, Chantal Akerman's Jeanne Dielman, 23 Quai du Commerce, 1080 Bruxelles has a 100% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. I'm surprised you don't have it.

Yeah, what's wrong with subtitles? My favourite film of all time has subtitles...

What's WRONG with subtitles?
Let me count the ways
1. In older films the words are obscured by the background.
2. They flash across the screen so fast you don't have time to read them. ( I am not a speed reader)
3.While reading subtitles you really can not fully observe the cinematography.
4. AND MOST IMPORTANTLY THEY SOMETIMES COVER UP THE LADYS NAUGHTY BITS.
Have you ever watched an English dubbed movie with the English subtitles on?:wtf:

I still have yet to see Manos. I get together with a group of friends every Thursday to watch movies, often bad ones. Manos has been on the list for a year or so now, but we haven't quite made it to it. We've made it through Yor: The Hunter from the Future, Birdemic: Shock and Terror and a slew of Andy Sidaris and Lloyd Kaufman flicks, so really it's just a matter of time.

I've seen the Manos MST3k episode about thirty times and I went to the Rifftrax Live Event the guys did a couple years back. Such a strange film. They also did Plan 9 From Outer Space Rifftrax Live as well and they colorized it for the event. That was really weird.

I've seen the MST3K version of Manos. The only way to sit through that steaming pile.

And I saw Yor: The Hunter from the Future at the theater when it first came out. My Boy Scout patrol decided to go see a movie as a group outing and that was what we picked. Even as 13-14 year-old boys, we knew the movie was way stupid terrible!

Bruce, you are freaking amazing. Did you, by any chance, ever get the movie show "Chiller Theater" when you were a kid? My daughter and I were discussing it today. My pet German Shepard used to come down to the basement and literally watch it until it was over and then go back to my Mother's bed and sleep. Never really understood why, except I was usually babysitting my siblings. LOL

Here's one for you, was it "Twilight Zone" that had the spaceman trapped on a planet mostly made up of sand that had a monster in it. Always scared the crap out of me for some reason. Know what I am talking about? (I bet you do). Very "Dune" like in retrospect.
