View Full Version : The Collectible Steven Erikson

Anyone here who's read, or is reading, Steven Erikson's Malazan Book of the Fallen? It's the most ambitious fantasy series I've never read - or rather, I haven't finished reading yet. I will, but it's huge!

Subterranean Press is doing a great series of limiteds. Unfortunately, I missed out on the first numbered, and first two lettered editions.

This is what I've collected so far. I'd love to see more!

Very nice. I thought about ordering them but I've never read the series. I picked up some ARCs a while back but decided to sell them. At some point I want to read them.

I only read the first three (or was it four??) books. I just couldn't keep track of the many, many characters. Also lost track of the storyline.
I will try again, though.

I'm two books in, plus Esslemont's first (shared universe). I put them down for now, but I look forward to diving back in. You hit the ground running with this series, no matter which book you are on, so I doubt I'll restart.

I first want to give the Stephen Donaldson Thomas Covenant chronicles another go (read the first six books, but not the third chronicles) -that's a total of ten volumes- and then try Erikson's Malazan series again, right from the beginning - The Gardens of the Moon.

Excellent images, frik! I'm in the same boat as you are regarding the lettereds (got them both from the "left over lettereds" announcements. Damn but it was stressful to look out for them), so I had nothing to contribute, until last week when the mail came in... Glad to strike this off the collecting list.

Personally, I'm going to sell my set (books2-5 plus rights) soon. Bought too many King limiteds and need the cash for more....

Yeap, matching numbers + Midnight Tides + rights!

Erikson SubPress series is a significant investment what with five books still in the queue, so I understand completely what you mean (and Gardens is a nightmare to get a hold of on its own). I noticed on Calvin's Corner you crossed the Rubicon for Thinner, so congrats on that, and good luck with the Erikson sale!

Yes, I do! I didn't get them with the third book, but considering I got a spare copy of that, it wasn't too far-fetched to think a corresponding copy of HoC would be open for grabs on a later date. It took some very obsessive compulsive website refreshing (I'm glad that's behind me), but I did eventually get the book + rights! Incidentally, if anyone has [knowledge of] the letter "PP" of the first two books (haw haw), I'd be glad to hear it.

Hello folks, I've been scouring the internet for the first two books (numbered) of this series as I have 3 and 4 with rights for the future. Does anyone have these for sale? Or all of the lettered copies with rights? Here's to hoping!

I'm sorry about not responding any sooner - I just noticed your message.
Or - maybe we had contact recently some other way? I did talk about book 2 with a couple of people - maybe with you as well?
Come to think of it, I think I might know who you are...

My least-favorite of the series so far, cover-wise, but still an amazing production.
Love what SubPress has done so far.
Still five more to go.
Plus, of course, the lettered edition soon.

Thanks, guys. And true, these are simply amazing books. Some of the best SubPress has ever put on the market.
The thing is, I read the (paperback copies of) the first three books and the I got lost: I had no clue anymore as to what was going on.
Plus the cast of thousands (almost literally..) added to the confusion.
Then I came across these limited editions and I just couldn't resist. I'm not really sure if I'll ever try again, and I'm actually planning to sell the books, but so far haven't been able to do so.
Now have you had a look at the lettered editions??

I started with just two matching books with rights and built from there. I was able to get book two about three months into the process and I think s few months more I could have found book one. I've upgraded to a lettered set now which was my ultimate goal.

The answer depends on one's wallet, I think.
Plus how much of a completist you are.

Finding a complete matching set, either numbered or lettered, is very difficult.
A lettered set just sold on eBay for close to $10,000.00.
I haven't seen a numbered set in awhile, but if you go for a non-matching set, you should be able to manage.
Books 1 and 2 are pretty expensive though.

Both my numbered and lettered sets are matching, but incomplete.
Missing the numbered and lettered Gardens of the Moon, plus the lettered Deadhouse Gates as well.

So far what I can see available are various numbers books 3,4 or 5. I can't find any matching as of this moment. Lettered set would be my ultimate goal as well - just don't know the limit of my patience LOL - buying random numbers now or search for a more complete set. New preorders for # 6 are not allowing anyone without previous books yet there are not sold out. What if people that bought lettereds before now given up or sold them , when would Subpress release to public?

Before they go on Ebay....
I know one day I'm going to regret this, but I am ready to sell my limited (numbered) Subterranean Press set. What are you going to get?

* a matching set of four books
* rights to the remaining five books (meaning, you'll have a set of nine matching editions). I will notify SubPress that the number of this set is yours and you'll be all set to pre-order The Bonehunters (already up for pre-order, but only if you own MT.)
* Deadhouse Gates - unread, in fine/fine condition
*Memories of Ice - unread, in f/f condition
*House of Chains - unread, f/f
*Midnight Tides - unread, f/f

Books 1 (especially, and which I don't have) and 2 are getting very hard to find. Gardens of the Moon is selling for a small fortune, while Deadhouse Gates has also sold for $1500.00 plus.
It isn't too hard to find a stand-alone (number wise) copy of some of the later books, like Midnight Tides, but as I said, this is a matching set. Some won't care about this, some will.

As I live in the Netherlands, shipping to the US won't be cheap, but rest assured the books will be carefully packed.

I would prefer selling to someone here, but if this doesn't work out, I'll have to go the eBay route.

Serious offers only, obviously.

Thanks for listening,

Siep

Hello friends,

I'm open to hearing offers on a limited signed and numbered copy of Gardens of the Moon. Fine and unread.

Looking for cash offers or trades for anything I have listed in my signature.

Thanks

Hey everyone,
I am in the market for a SubPress set of Malazan. I have several Robert McCammon lettered editions up for trade if anyone is interested.

I have a full matching limited and a full matching lettered set. I am willing to entertain offers and trades. The Lettered set will not be cheap as it is one of my favorite series and also my favorite Subpress set. PM me if you are interested.

Hi all,

I'm aware this thread has been quiet for a while but here I am anyway!

I'm reluctantly selling my Lettered (X) set which is missing GotM. I've also got all the signed limited PS titles, including the Esslemonts, I can add in if anyone's interested.

If you're interested, drop me a message.

Many thanks.

I recently became the proud owner of GoTM #8/500. If you own any of the other #8's feel free to contact me, as I am interested in adding to my collection.

Would you be willing to part ways with just an Esslemont book? I just need Return of the Crimson Guard, if you have it, to finish the PS portion of Malazan.

I was surprised too. I ordered it, then went back about 10 min later to see when it was suppose to ship. And then Camelot put up that -leave us alone we don't have any- really showed the interest.

I know in theory he probably wanted to do something to really make it different from the first, but I'm not sure about the gild edges. I have the last 3 of the firsts and I think it's gonna look weird.
