Not a bad selection here, Space Balls, Wayne's World 2 and Hot Fuzz get my vote.

Four again: Spaceballs, Clerks, Police Academy 2, and Fast Times at Ridgemont High.

Four for me as well:

Spaceballs
Clerks
Fast Times at Ridgemont High
Beverly Hills Cop

The last one was iffy, but I gave it the benefit of the doubt.

Some very tough choices for me here. KingPin, Spaceballs, Police Academy and Tommy Boy are easy picks.

Never seen Hot Fuzz. I don’t remember BH Cop or Fast Times all that well but I know they are pretty popular. Clerks is a cult classic that I thought was ok. Wedding Crashers was kinda meh.

Not sure how I feel about voting for Wayne’s World 2. It was ok but not nearly as funny as the original.

Spaceballs is deservedly in the lead.

Wayne's World 2 needs more votes!

I'm gonna' need a beat on this one.

Obviously. I’m just shocked that someone would nominate the 2nd one over the first one.

Love both, but the sequel is the superior comedy for me, which is why I nominated it. :)

I think it was one of those movies that didn’t logically “need” a sequel but since the first movie was so successful, they tried to capture lightning in a bottle twice.

The first movie stayed more true to the characters IMO. In the second one they are hugely successful and Garth even gets a girlfriend. The spoofs of the other movies they did were funny but shows they were really reaching for material. The naked Indian was just weird as well.

I liked it well enough but the first one was far better. My friend and I *still* do the head-bang part every time we hear Bohemian Rhapsody. We also pronounce the city in Wisconsin Me-lee-wauk-ah (which of course means “the good land”).

I don't think either movie needed to be made, really. I can count on one hand the amount of times I watched SNL -don't think I saw a single skit starring them- so my enjoyment of the films aren't hindered by how true or untrue they were to the characters. All I know is that I found the second one to be funnier.

I’d like to see Police Academy move up a little but other than that I’m good with the current standings in this group. Tommy Boy was Chris Farely’s best movie. I really miss him.

I will not vote for these:
Wedding Crashers
Tommy Boy
Wayne's World 2
Police Academy 2

I will vote for these:
Fast Times at Ridgemont High
Clerks
Kingpin

And these are the ones that I still might not:
Spaceballs
Hot Fuzz
Beverly Hills Cop

I'm glad someone nominated it since I forgot to. Chris Farley and David Spade were hilarious together.

If you were a kid in the 80's I think it would be your thing. It's one of those movies you had to grow up with I think. I've turned a lot of people onto it later in life and they're all like "eh" about it.

I've noticed a lot of 80's movies can be hit or miss with someone who didn't grow up in the 80's. I remember a few years back when my sister was dating a guy much younger than her, she and I had to explain how the movie Teen Wolf was acceptable for its time. He really didn't comprehend it.

Completely agree! I might be off on this, but films made in the 80's and 90's have such a distinct vibe to them. It's something that's very difficult to duplicate.

I'm not so much talking about the time and setting of the film as much as I'm talking about the film style and technique. I realize I'm probably not expressing this properly.

I have more nostalgia for films of the 70's, actually. Is that wrong?

Mattrick

I think the 70's have the most unique look to them, a certain graininess to the colour and general grittiness that only really existed in that period. I LOVE the way 70's films look. It was like for those few years when films lacked that glimmer and depicted things less manufactured and more authentic.

I agree about them having a distinct vibe to them, especially 80's flicks. I just love 80's movies because of the certain "look" that they have.
