I'm just wading into the world of Vinyl and was curious who else collects, what sort of set up they have (turntables, receivers, speakers etc). I've owned a Dual turntable for years and casually enjoyed my vinyl, but am only just not getting into it with real vigor.

Anyone else?

I have a reasonable collection of vinyl (mostly from the late 70's all the 80's and early 90's) including full discographies of bands such as Genesis, Blondie, Meatloaf, The Police, Queen, Ultravox, Simple Minds, Frankie Goes To Hollywood, etc. Lots of coloured vinyl and picture disks.

I switched to CD's during the 90's

It's all in my loft though - I don't have anything to play them on anymore!

Interesting that you moved on, sold the turntable but kept the vinyl. Are you hoping so sell one day, or did you intend to purchase a new turntable?

Good question. I think it was more about house moves. The last time we moved house (which is about 15 years ago now) we gave away the music centre that had a turntable and just replaced it with a new CD only unit. (now also relegated to the loft as all my music is in the cloud these days).

The vinyl went straight to the loft when we moved in as we had no space for it. I've often thought of getting a new deck, but the convenience of just streaming my music anywhere in the house outweighs the 'nostalgia' factor

EDIT: There is one album I would love to hear again as I have searched High and Low and cannot locate a digital version. It's called "The Bloodied Sword" and is a concept album by Midge Ure, Billy Currie and Maxwell Langdown. Think arty poetry meets electronica... very much an acquired taste, but I loved it.

I did some digging for you Stroppy and found someone what seems to be the complete set of Mp3's from that obscure album. You can see the track listing's here:

http://4236.unknownsecret.info/mp3/The+Bloodied+Sword/The+Bloodied+Sword/

But you need to be a member to access them, and their main page is...well it's weird as shit. Not sure I would want to sign up, they admit you have to do some advertising related (read: Data mining) things to get access.

http://4236.unknownsecret.info/

I dunno, might be worth checking out?

Yes - Been there seen it, got the t-shirt. It's another scam site that just collects your info for marketing and spam purposes - you never get access.(Thanks for looking though!)

We've started collecting (again)--my daughter's both have simple systems and got us re-started--but haven't set up anything like what I had in the early '80s. My collection is older vinyl, but my wife was gifted Of Monsters and Men's "My Head is an Animal" for Christmas this year.

Now, we need to fix radio.

I'm using a Sony hp-480 with a Dual 1010 turntable (early 70's), into a Pioneer receiver and out to some vintage technic floor speakers. I have my parents collection of Vinyl, as well as 20/30 that I've purchased, half a dozen are brand new.

I think I'll try and step it up in the future, pick up a really nice turntable and a pre-amp. maybe jump from 2 speakers to a 5.1 but I haven't decided yet. I have a few records coming in the mail that I'm excited to spin.

Not a week goes by that I don't buy at least a few records. Matter of fact, I just ordered nearly 20 records from Ebullition Records not 10 minutes ago.

I'm not a diehard collector as I used to be. If a record was a re-issue, by default it was disqualified from ever reaching my shelves. I'm not so picky these days as I buy them for sound quality, not for the scarcity. My family always asks me to play records when they come over although I have CDs of the same albums. The sound is, simply put, fuller.

Anyone willing to spend a few hundred (true audiophiles spent crazy, excessive amounts on gear) on a decent set up will find it hard to go back to CDs.

Needfulthings, that is *quite* the collection. Why the fascination with film soundtracks as opposed to traditional albums?

WeDealInLead, Care to share? I'm all for turning this into a "new vinyl pride and joy"-esque thread if you are.

I had to look twice when I saw this picture as I have a collection of Victrolas. This looks like the Sonora style cabinet.
I have a few different working models of Victrola's however I was about to mention one cabinet in particular.

I have one which I turned into a modern (at the time) stereo cabinet with my components inside (behind the doors) and a regular turntable to replace the old crank up one on top under the cover.
It is still set up at the house I use for family, visitors and guests (as well as storage).
I have quite a number of albums stored up there as well. They are not per-see a collection as much as they were ones I acquired and never got rid of.

The horn on that model is built into the cabinet and behind that decorative grill-work.

Had lunch during the Holidays downtown with my sister and nephews. Afterwards we wandered into a Goodwill Boutique.
I found it interesting that my teen-age nephew was browsing the vinyl and asked if he was into collecting albums.
He said he is however has no way to play them. I told him I have to grab him one of the turntables I have stored on shelf in my garage.
I find his direction in music (vinyl and other), who he considers interesting quite eclectic but very refreshing and want to encorage it.
From the Beatles to Sinatra to David Bowie and various bands I am not familiar with, he does not seem to feel a need to gravitate towards what most his age consider popular these days.

I don't even have my own copy of that record. We pressed 500 of the first 7" and 700 of the second 7". We broke up in 2007 and they've been out of print since. Here are both but I wouldn't pay that much: http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=p2050601.m570.l1313.TR0.TRC0.H0.Xabout+to+ snap&_nkw=about+to+snap&_sacat=11233

Much cheaper here: http://www.discogs.com/artist/2006490-About-To-Snap

I've been slowly collecting over a couple years, mainly just bands that put out extra songs on vinyl only. I buy a lot more now that I don't live in a condo. I want to more soundtracks just to have as background music while I do that dishes or make dinner but mostly all I see is horror soundtracks. Nice to see there is more Needful.
The last 3 records I got were Sam Cooke's newest retrospective, the Menahan Street Band and my father in law's Mississippi John Hurt Live which are great for just sitting around listening.

I actually built my own box to hold the records this year, that was awesome. Although the wood stain I used took months to not smell up the house! It even has casters! I am proud that I finished it.

I mostly have all of my vinyl from when I was a teenager (mostly 80s stuff) but I have a few newer albums. I received a Crosley player a few years back as a gift to play them on. When I come across an album I see that interests me, I will pick it up, but I wouldn't call it a hobby by any means.

Fair warning, I've heard that Crosley turntable's lack of counter balance on the tone arm, lack of anti-skating, and cartridge/needle type can ALL damage your records. It might be perfect for you as a casual listener, just passing along that I've heard they are not kind to the vinyl itself.

Those 30 seconds to Mars albums kick some *Serious* ass. I'm deeply jealous.

My 15 year old daughter found my sister's records from the 70's and 80's in the basement. We ended up getting her one of those Crosley players so she could start listening to them. Now, she is buying any new music she can on vinyl. She just loves the whole retro feel to them. Although a lot of them are on 180-gram vinyl and cost $25-30 bucks a piece.

Have you felt the 180 gram stuff? It feels glorious, especially compared to some of the lightweight 70's vinyl.

It is nice, which explains the price tag. Not every new album in on 180 gram, so some of the prices are still reasonable. I'm sure they would sound a lot better on a nicer system.

Nice! I used to own a bunch of Metallica picture disks (plus lots of other eighties metal albums) but all are gone. We're planning to buy a house soon and we decided to get a record player again once we move. My wife is a huge progressive rock/metal fan (also Pink Floyd etc.) but she also got rid of most of her LPs. Will be fun to track down all those oldies.

I would advise that you stay away from the Crosley turntable/all in one units. I know a few members have them here, and I mean no disrespect, I've just heard they're really not good for your vinyl, or for sound quality for that matter.

I've been dreaming of getting a record player for years, mainly for nostalgic reasons. I grew up looking through and listening to my parents' huge vinyl collection, and I'd love to begin my own collection. Don't get me wrong, an Ipod was one of the greatest inventions ever, in my opinion, but there is nothing like that warm sound that comes from listening to vinyl. There are still songs I listen to now that I expect to hear the crackle before or after because I associate them with hearing them on vinyl as a kid.
So, yeah, I'd love to make the leap and get a player, but I'm intimidated by my lack of knowledge on where to even begin as far as purchasing a player. :)

I need a new turntable and that is exactly what I was going to buy. I like the looks of them and they are affordable. I hadn't read any complaints regarding them although I have read that the sound quality isn't the greatest.

I've got all my albums from when I started buying them in the 60's plus all those that other people were dumping and I kept all the ones my parents had when we cleaned out their house. (Mario Lanza anyone?)Most are in moving boxes but I'll see if any of the odd ones are easy to find.

I am still using my Fisher turntable from the 70's. I have a couple of others in furniture I'll take a pics of later.

I need a new turntable and that is exactly what I was going to buy. I like the looks of them and they are affordable. I hadn't read any complaints regarding them although I have read that the sound quality isn't the greatest.

A quick Google and you'll see what I mean. I would also suggest Reddit.com/r/vinyl and reading their how to when buying a turn table (stickied on the right hand side)

Here's my set up. It's not top of the line but I did mix and match the units to my liking. I bought everything used except the turntable. I think the whole thing with speakers included was $500.

http://i67.photobucket.com/albums/h309/abouttosnap1/003_zps9c921382.jpg

Some records I was just listening to. Two Nirvana represses on 180 gram vinyl. Bleach comes with a bonus live LP and a booklet with rare photos. Pictured in the booklet is their first contract: $600. In Utero is a triple LP with a bunch of demos and outtakes.

Both are gatefolds:

This a favourite of mine. 3 180 gram LPs, 3 CDs, a incredible number of extras. First up is the box that holds everything in one neat package:

I can understand listening to records printed on vinyl back when that's all there was, but I do not see the point on listening to new stuff on vinyl...seems like it would make the music less authentic than listening to records actually pressed in 1967.

There are a LOT of musicians producing new music on vinyl, and as a medium there's no compression (like there is with mp3's) that aside, it tends to go hand in hand with a better quality stereo system. A turntable is traditionally paired with a pre amp, receiver, and some solid speakers. So the medium places an emphasis on a quality set up. It also offers the band a chance for large scale art work, liner notes, posters, coloured vinyl, picture discs, etc. So you're buying a package of artwork along side the music. It's a tangible collectible, which is why it's becoming popular once more, I think people who grew up on vinyl and then CD's have been missing the collectible aspect of music now that digital music has become the norm. I like the physical aspect of collecting vinyl.

Its akin to preferring physical books to ebooks.

I have some Bose 501 Tower speakers I may let go for a cheap price. I don't think they make them any longer, they're about three feet high and would cost a lot to pack and ship. I don't use them any more I play everything through my acoustimass system. Pay the shipping and donate something cool for the HF maybe? Shame they are not in use. I used to have a stereo system in my "Man Cave" and the Den back in NY when I had a much bigger house. They've hardly been used. They are fucking awesome speakers. I won't own any other kind. I may also have a Bose clock radio laying around somewhere as well.

I'm drooling over the Andromeda Strain and Horror vinyls! My husband and I have accumulated a number of records over the years. For Halloween this year, he gave me a copy of Creepshow on green meteor shit vinyl and I got him the Ghostbusters glow in the dark vinyl. I think our favorite, though, would be Disney's Haunted Mansion tour. Play that with the lights out and pretend you're on the ride. ;)

The LP in the middle of the lower row is Boris & Merzbow collaboration. It's one 60 minute song. Pretty boring on its own but great background when reading horror. It's totally unobtrusive. It's very minimalistic music and most of the sounds are just effects and drone ambience. Pretty unique stuff.

We haven't really talked "set ups" yet, so lets see your stereo systems,

Here's a complete component stereo (complete with Technics stand) I picked up on the weekend:
Toshiba Turntable
Technics receiver
Technics Cassette Player
Technics Speakers
Magnavox CD Player (the weak link in this set up)

The set up that was my "main" playing station, before I picked up all of the above;
Consists of a vintage 70's Yamaha receiver, an inexpensive belt drive turntable, and some big Technics floor speakers. Paired with a Pioneer CD player:

and lastly, my bedroom set up;

Very impressive!!! Just by way of conversation I never cared for "Technics" receivers. Turntable's, cassette players they offer a great product, nut I like Onkyo for a receiver. Now speakers, it's Bose or nothing. I have three different sets of Bose speakers, two clock radio's and headphones. I remember back in 1986, when NYC had the Bicentennial, Bose had a booth with this massive system in very little light. The sound was phenomenal and at the end it turned out that the "System" was a cardboard facade and what we were listening to was the Bose clock radio. I swore to only listen to Bose from that day forward. LOL

So, it's Bose or the hose for me!!! LOL

Theli,

Top left is Sunn O))) (named because they use walls of Sunn amps live) and it's anti-music IMO. It's droney, down-tuned stuff. Their best stuff is "Black One" and collaboration with Boris called Altars. Here's the full album: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rhFLgJq1efU The thing with Sunn is that it's not really about the riff. They're more into creating oppressive vibes.

Next to Sunn is Pallbearer. Heavy riffs with mostly clean vocals. This is the record: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4ArNlI5PZSs&list=PLJ3duizt8tbwf59torcYenoGrCR7yx06f If names Neurosis, Baroness and Mastodon mean something, you might like them.

All the 7"es pictured are hardcore punk stuff except Iron Lung. They're a two-piece grind band. Give is melodic hardcore, think Revolution Summer bands from DC like Rites of Spring. This is a good song, it has a touch of Rival Schools/Quicksand to it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rktlQAmyoJA

Tragedy (next to AF) are one of the most respected DIY hardcore bands around. Everything they've done is flawless. All of their albums are on you Youtube, start with the first one and make your way through. I saw them in a squat in Toronto before their first LP came out and I can safely say that there have never been more jaws just hanging opening while they plowed through their set. This is their first LP: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S6dItd8gA50 Don't let the acoustic guitar intro turn you off them. I don't say this often, but this band is INTENSE.

Earth Crisis (next to Tragedy) are a militant vegan straight edge band (so right up my alley). They started out as a metallic hardcore band but now are straight up metal. If Bolt Thrower and Pantera are your thing, you'll dig ExC. They've done great things for animal rights, appearing on major TV networks, playing Ozzfest and all over the planet. The album pictured is Neutralize the Threat but a good starting point is the 7" called Firestorm: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dlwYzCQfvuw The first song gets the most ridiculous sing-alongs at shows, like so: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JF75xSkSWGY

Here are the lyrics. It's crazy to think they wrote this when they were 21 or younger.

Street by street. Block by block. Taking it all back.
The youth's immersed in poison--turn the tide
counterattack. Violence against violence, let the roundups begin.
A firestorm to purify the bane that society drowns in. No
mercy, no exceptions, a declaration of total war.
The innocents' defense is the reason it's waged for.
Born addicted, beaten
and neglected. Families torn apart, detroyed and abandoned.
Children sell their bodies, from their high they fall to drown.
Demons crazed by greed cut bystanders down.
A chemically tainted welfare generation.
Abslolute complete moral degeneration.
Born addicted, beaten and neglected.
Families torn apart, detroyed and abandoned.
Children sell their bodies, from their high
they fall to drown. Demons crazed by greed cut bystanders down.
Corrupt politicians, corrupt enforcement, drug lords and
dealers; all must fall. The helpless are crying out.
We have risen to their call. A firestorm to purify.

I could talk about music all day but I think I've said enough already haha.

I've also heard of Earth Crisis but have yet to give them a spin, not huge on Pantera but love me some early Bolt Thrower. Thanks for the info!

As for Sacred Reich, at least they got some screen time! There's too many great metal bands that were never given the light of day.

I grew up and still am into hardcore, punk and metal. I've played in a bunch of hardcore bands and right now I'm in a metal-ish band called Hollowman (bastard son of Dan Simmons and HG Wells books) + a hardcore punk band I'm trying to get off the ground. Music is recorded, just need my friend to come in lay down the vocals.

I saw this band called Red Death from DC last week. They're pretty thrashy, the intro sounds like S.O.D. Here's the whole record: https://reddeath.bandcamp.com/album/permanent-exile

I live for this shit; this is my summer schedule:

Mastodon 5/21, Bolt Thrower 6/21, Melvins 6/23, Earth Crisis 7/11, Foreseen 8/4 (thrash from Norway)

This is my band: http://hollowman1.bandcamp.com I sang, played the guitar in the left speaker, and drummed on those songs. I should be recording vocals for the newest three songs this weekend. I like to think it sounds like a mix of Godflesh, Neurosis, Helmet, Machine head, and Nailbomb while sounding nothing like those bands at all.

These are mostly indie/DIY hardcore punk bands (and every sub-genre and style that fit under that term) that operate on a very grassroots level. I didn't post close-ups because, man, that would've been a lot of work.

I'm going to Detroit this Wednesday to see Neurosis and I'll be picking up the gazzilion packages from my US shipping address. I honestly don't even remember what I ordered. It was a lot of stuff.

Can anyone recommend good online vinyl stores? I know Ebay and Amazon sell, but there's a specific album I'm looking for and haven't had luck on those sites unless I want to spend $233 on Amazon. I have no problem with reissue, I have no problem with used, I just want to know of some trustworthy sites.

Any help is appreciated. :)

www.Vinyl.com has some great prices, but I'm always nervous over sites I have no experience with.

I used to have a bunch of records but I don't anymore as they didn't survive the years and the moving I did. I can't even remember what happened to them, but I purchased them all back in the day before CD's. Like when you went to a record store, all you could get was vinyl. I'm bummed that I don't still have them.

I do have one story to share though. I have a very vivid memory as a child of seeing this album on the floor of my older brother's room. Little did I know that history was being made around this artist. The cover stayed with me over the decades and a few years ago I picked one up off eBay out of nostalgia for that time. In many ways, this was the soundtrack of my youth, as it was for thousands of us at that time and place. If you have seen Searching for Sugar Man (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Searching_for_Sugar_Man), you will know what I'm talking about. If you haven't, watch it now! It's an amazing story.

Don't tell me you listened to a record?

Rip all that crummy decades old shrink-wrap and get proper record sleeves on. Make sure you store the LP outside the cover (but inside the plastic sleeve) to prevent seam splits and ringwear.

I'm not sure how picky you are about owning first pressings, limited colours etc. but sometimes you don't know what you have until you look at the matrix or a minor change on the inner sleeve etc.

No need to post the full albums (the only four they've written before they broke up - at least in my mind), everyone knows what those look like. I have the originals and remasters. No big difference in sound TBH.

Jump in the Fire and Creeping Death are 12" maxi singles with songs later compiled on Garage Days. Kill Em All is the original picture disc, Metal Up Your Ass is the demo. I also have the No Life Till Leather demo tape somewhere.

I still need to get the One 12" maxi single and the Euro pressing with Jump and Creeping on a single LP.

There are a couple more but don't pay those prices. The seller accepted my $10 offer. I'm a big Mastodon fan and this was the final piece of the puzzle in their vinyl collection. I’m not sure if I’ve mentioned this elsewhere on TDT, but a decent shop from which to buy vinyl is Plaid Room Records (https://www.plaidroomrecords.com/). I avoid vinyl like the plague myself, but I’ve had to buy (and troubleshoot) some for a family member, and PRR has a wide selection (including special releases), but more importantly is very responsive if you have questions or problems (one of their people wrote me two e-mails and spent 10 minutes on the phone with me to assist with something he knew I wasn't going to return or ask for a refund for, and taught me a lot).

Jethro Tull's been releasing amped-up versions of their albums for a while now. Unfortunately, I arrived late on the scene and missed a few, which are now going for ten times the release date price. I HAD Songs From the Wood in my basket, but at the time I didn't have the 45 bucks and waited too long, and it slipped between my fingers! I kick myself on that one!
Their latest is A LA MODE, which along with the QUADROPHENIA Deluxe CD set, I had to send back to Amazon for replacements. They sent them both, along with two Blu-Ray DVDs, which arrived in less than stellar condition in a very flimsy paper bag. Luckily the replacements were in tip-top shape, along with the Deluxe Version of PLASTIC ONO BAND (sent, thank God, in the manufacturer's box) by John Lennon, which, along with the original album, has somewhere near eleven hours of alternate and demo music on it. I still remember finding that album and buying it. I remember the store, and looking at it and the Yoko Ono accompanying album, which I (I believe wisely) decided not to buy.
All CDs are shown with their original American release vinyl companions, all bought by me brand new when first released.

I still have "Quadrophenia", "Welcome back my Friends" and "Thick as a Brick" from back in the day. My kids think I'm crazy holding onto this stuff. I still have 30+ vinyl albums from my youth. Some really good one's too. At some point I went into the "CD" revolution and collected over 500 CD's of music. My kids say I'm crazy and old fashioned, but I love my Rock n Roll, baby!!! lol

I never bought THICK AS A BRICK, why I don't know.
Amazon came through today with flying colors.
The 2 CD version of the Deluxe PLASTIC ONO BAND.
The Deluxe 50th Anniversary release of DEJA VU (funny, I feel like I bought that album before), from Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young and a couple of other guys, without Mr. Young's participation (too busy, I guess).
It was enclosed in the manufacturer's original shipping box, which I really like, all the way from Germany, where it was manufactured, so you just know it's high quality (right, Frank?).
It contains the original LP, remastered, plus CDs with lots of other good stuff.

Thought I'd share this latest addition to the collection, because it's is a cool one; a dual platinum album presentation celebrating sales of 1 million copies each of John Lennon's "Imagine" and "Shaved Fish" from John Lennon and Yoko Ono to San Francisco RKO Radio personality Dave Sholin. On December 8, 1980, Dave Sholin visited The Dakota hotel in New York City and interviewed Lennon and Ono in their apartment; later that same day Lennon was assassinated. That session is now known as "The Last Interview".

The presentation piece is from the memorabilia collection of Sholin's fellow California DJ "Mr Ed" Lambert who passed away in 2020. It's freakin' huge in-person as you can see by the photo of my daughter holding it, they're set in a 2-inch deep shadowbox style frame on floating mounts with a plexiglass cover. You can listen to or read Lennon's "The Last Interview" at this link: http://www.beatlesarchive.net/john-lennons-last-interview-december-8-1980.html

I also have signatures and Ltd Editions by, Roger Dean (of the "Yes Logo"), Ron Wood, Eric Clapton, Jimmy Page and Robert Plant. Additionally, the Ron Wood pieces are of, 'The Who", "Rolling Stones", Kieth Richards and Eric Clapton. I know I had pics in my old collection thread, but not sure if I did them for the new one. I suppose I'll need to rectify that, huh? lol

I do not mean to come off in a "Top This" kinda way. I just thought that if you're interested in this subject you might appreciate these items. There's a few good stories to be told with regard to them but, that's for another day and time.

Don't they have a version of this in a wooden crate for ~$1,000.00?

The cool thing about ATMP is that the original album itself is pretty expansive; I can only imagine what the deluxe set builds out to (I'm not an actual Harrison fan, but I know ATMP is pretty much a musical landmark).

I don't know about the wooden crate, but I was wrong about the final price because somehow I missed the Deluxe 5LP box set.
There are 5 different versions of this release, USA-wise, I don't buy the Japanese etc., releases, I'm not that much of a fanatic (translation, I don't have that much money to spend).
The total came out to $495.61, payable upon release, subject to changes in price, which are normally lower than projected, which means a small reduction or refund.
There are 40 some outtakes, etc. This sounds boring and repetitive, but the same was true for the White Album and Sgt. Pepper box sets, and I found them both highly entertaining. Maybe one day I'll even listen to them again!

A bunch of LET IT BE Deluxe Sets will be out this fall.
May 2021 is the 50th anniversary, but they figure not as many people will buy them then because there are no holidays around that time, so the money men are pushing for a fall release for Christmas shoppers.
I don't think Mr. Lennon would approve of this strategy but I will buy them all regardless.

Mother Mary come to me, and shake that dough off the money tree!

Also, Amazon now has a vinyl record club, one classic album a month for about $25, and you can skip a month or return the selection for free if you don't want it. The first selection was THE WALL by Yellow Floyd, or was it Blue Floyd? I forget.

For anyone interested in the "Uber Deluxe" edition of George Harrison's All Things Must Pass:

In celebration of the 50th Anniversary, George Harrison’s, All Things Must Pass, is being celebrated with a suite of new releases, highlighted by the limited Uber Deluxe Edition, which presents a stunning new mix of the classic album by Grammy Award-winning mixer/engineer Paul Hicks, overseen by executive producer Dhani Harrison, which includes the album on 8LP and 5CD/BR housed in an artisan designed wooden crate (approx. 12.4” X 12.4” X 17.5”). The collection contains two books, an elaborate and expanded 96-page version of the scrapbook curated by Olivia Harrison, with unseen imagery and memorabilia from the era, handwritten lyrics, diary entries, studio notes, tape box images, a comprehensive track-by-track, and more; while a second 44-page book chronicling the making of All Things Must Pass through extensive archival interviews with notes is also contained herein. The elegantly designed books pay homage to Harrison’s love of gardening and nature. The book also contains a wooden bookmark made from a felled Oak tree (Quercus Robur) in George’s Friar Park. This truly unique box will also contain 1/6 scale replica figurines of Harrison and the gnomes featured on the iconic album cover, a limited edition illustration by musician and artist Klaus Voormann, as well as a copy of Paramahansa Yogananda’s “Light from the Great Ones” and Rudraksha beads, contained in individual custom-made boxes. It also includes a replica of the original album poster. The set features 70 tracks including 47 demo recordings, session outtakes, and studio jams, of which 42 are previously unreleased. The Blu-ray disc includes hi-res stereo, 5.1 surround, and Dolby Atmos mixes of the main album.

US ($999.98): https://shop.udiscovermusic.com/collections/george-harrison/products/george-harrison-all-things-must-pass-uber-box-set

There's a link for the UK, but it currently says it's out of stock: https://bit.ly/3gaSYa8

Anyone who wanted or needed to order this through the UK site, take heart: often with things like this (high priced and physically large editions for which the stock is only sold through a few specific outlets), stock is initially allocated imprecisely and those outlets that "sell out" first get more allocated to them - so watch that site!

FYI, people interested in things like this should check out superdeluxeedition.com.

A new collection of John Lennon's greatest hits, including a box set of 4LPs.
I got this from the same place I ordered the George Harrison Uber set, and the flimsy box was very crushed on one end. Even though the LP box was in the original manufacturer's box it had a bumped corner and other minor defects and the CDs were just tossed in with no protection at all, suffering minor scrapes. I informed them that was probably my 2nd and last order from them.
The CDs are also available with a Blu-Ray disc, with the songs in Dolby Atmos 5.1! I have since ordered that from Amazon.

From the swinging Czech Republic where Beatlemania reigns supreme.
The only thing not in the original manufacturer's box, the 2 CD set, was slightly crushed, which figures. I'll probably buy a mint one at the store and open the damaged one to listen to in my car.
