Not everything on my shelves are all books:

This is a repurposed tablet loaded with King artwork that I have running a slideshow most of the time. It also plays 50's/60's rock 'n roll that I ran speakers (earbuds, actually...) into the back seat of "Christine". It's pretty wicked to walk in to the room and hear "Little Bitty Pretty One" playing from the car!

And a cool trinket I found in a shop in Gettysburg, PA while on vacation. It sits nicely on the wall next to my books!

http://i755.photobucket.com/albums/xx199/Drake1969/SK%20Library/SAM_3305_zps532ccd52.jpg

When I started collecting King books, all I could afford were paperbacks with the rare hardcover now and then (except for the Dark Tower series, which I bought strictly in HB). I had pretty much all of his works untill I lost most of it to a tree that fell on my house during hurricane Irene. Since I was insured, I decided to rebuild my collection with all hardback books, even if it meant picking up BCE's (Book Club Editions). Now I have all of his works in hardbacks, with the exception of "Cycle of the Werewolf", "The Green Mile", and 1st ~ 3rd edition "Dark Tower - Gunslinger".

The only signed/numbered editions I have currently are books about King, not written by him. They are "The Stephen King Companion" by George Beahm and "Road to the Dark Tower" by Bev Vincent. But I intend to get at least one signed King book some day, if only to say I actually have one!

Thanks everyone! Yeah, the only three I truly need now are the Land Of Enchantment "Cycle Of The Werewolf", a 1st ~ 3rd Printing 1st Edition "Dark Tower - The Gunslinger" (before it was revised), and a HC "Green Mile". I already know which one will be the easiest and least expensive to get, LOL.... :arg:

Which one? If you are referring to the brown box in the 10th pic, that's just the cardboard box that the Marvel "The Gunslinger" Omnibus came in. It looks like this....

1: Carrie (PS Publishing - slipcase and DJ, unsigned) - should arrive in a few days...
2: Carrie (Cemetery Dance) - on order for next year...
3: Revival (slipcase by Cemetery Dance) - when the cases are released, probably next year...
4: Dark Tower: Complete Concordance - Robin Furth - on order from Cemetery Dance - new edition, probably next year...
5: Dark Tower Companion - Bev Vincent - on order from Cemetery Dance - probably next year...

Also adding another hardback to the want list: Joyland - Already have paperback edition.

Just landed another rare book for pennies off of eBay.....

DEMON-DRIVEN: STEPHEN KING & THE ART OF WRITING, George Beahm, ed. 1994

http://i755.photobucket.com/albums/xx199/Drake1969/SK%20Library/_58_zps860d1935.jpg

This is the rare 1994 hardcover limited edition of DEMON DRIVEN: STEPHEN KING AND THE ART OF WRITING, edited by George Beahm and published by GB Publishing/ink of Williamsburg, Va.. The book comprises seven long essays and features about the life and work of King, and is one of the scarcest King collectibles. This is the First Edition, First Printing, limited to 300 copies, signed by editor George Beahm and by contributor W.C. Stroby (aka novelist Wallace Stroby). The book contains the following: “Creatures of the Night,” an introduction by Beahm; “Of Books and Reputations: The Confusing Cases of King, Koontz and Others” by Michael R. Collings; “Stephen King Meets the Jim and Tammy Zombies” by Howard Wornom; “Stephen King: Dreamweaver” by Stephen J. Spignesi; “Stephen King’s Maine Haunts” by David Lowell and “Digging Up Stories with Stephen King,” an extensive Q&A conducted by Stroby in which King talks in depth about his writing process; and the title essay, “Demon-Driven: Stephen King and the Art of Writing” by Beahm. Book is a hardcover library binding, as published, in Very Fine-Near Mint condition, unread, with unmarred covers, tight spine and bright white pages. This is a publisher’s presentation copy, unnumbered.

Great collection!

I'm intrigued by the ordering of your books.... what is the basis for the positioning? It's definitely not release date or alphabetical, nor is it publisher or size. Is it random or is there some devious link that eludes me?

Drake69

Shelf height...

The shelves were built into the wall back in the 20's/30's, and it's because of that I can't organize my library very well. The top section is actually the tallest one, and it's the only shelf area that fits the Marvel Omnibus books as well as some of the slipcase editions. I have other bookcases in the house, but they are all pressed wood and look and feel "shambly", like they'll tip over if too much is put in them.

I NEED new shelving, just don't have the money for it now.

http://i755.photobucket.com/albums/xx199/Drake1969/SK%20Library/IMG_20141117_190232_196_zps6evlyncw.jpg

Middle shelf proved the shortest height of all the shelves, so I packed in all the trinket items in there. Top shelf is for special editions (usually with slipcases, although Mr Mercedes w/ SC is on the bottom row right now...), and all the other books line up accordingly. Annoying thing, I got The Stand: Uncut to fit properly on the middle shelf, but Four Past Midnight brought that to a screeching halt (was about half an inch too tall).

I have the titles written down and will be getting hardbacks to replace them with the exception of The Running Man which I already have in Bachman Books.

And lastly, I uncovered this in my old box of VHS tapes. I have yet to find these in DVD format....

ah, by release date, thats better :) My itching has stopped now.

can you just move the Stand uncut down to the next shelf and leave the middle as a trinket/paperbacks shelf? I will sleep better at night - Or at least do it and post a picture, OCD of other peoples books is such a chore.. :panic:

except..

After all this...you are trying to MAKE ME move books on two whole shelves DOWN just so I can fit The Stand with the others?!?!?!

BTW.... had to actually move TWO books down, Black House and Everything's Eventual. That is going to cost you TWO HUNDRED Karma Points.... :belial:

(LOL.... I had already moved it down earlier anyway.... it made more sense sitting on the proper shelf. At least I got away with not mixing in The Diary Of Ellen... and The Journals Of Eleanor... since they weren't actually written by King...)

Okay. I just TOTALLY freaked myself out here. I had some money left over from last month's bill paying to pick up some more SK books this past weekend, so I thought I would go ahead and knock out two signed editions, one of Stephen King: The Non-Fiction, and a copy of Stephen King: Uncollected, Unpublished - Revised & Expanded, both written and signed by Rocky Wood.

And now I find out he passed away today. Wow.

Also, a friend gave me this wooden box that formerly had wine in it for me to use for anything. It had a clasp on the side that became unscrewed, and the wood is kind of soft so I have to be careful what I do with it, but I'm thinking a special case for my first signed Stephen King book, if I ever have the money to get one! LOL!

Here are some pix with "It" for scale....

http://i755.photobucket.com/albums/xx199/Drake1969/SK%20Library/IMG_20141224_231457_787_zps2alw53tj.jpg

So there is plenty of room to fit the thicker books like "The Stand", "Insomnia", etc.... I figure a foam setting covered in red felt, satin, or other soft cloth. Should be easy to make, just shape the styrofoam, use non-vaporous, non-harmful binder's glue, and I'd be good to go.

Now I still need a signed SK book to go in it.... argh.

http://i755.photobucket.com/albums/xx199/Drake1969/SK%20Library/Dark%20Tower%204_zpsngflsz9s.jpg

All are first editions with the exception of The Gunslinger, but at least it's the original version of the story. DT I ~ V are trade hardbacks and VI and VII are artist editions. I'm hoping one day I'll get all the artist editions (or, to dream a bit more, an entire numbered set!).

Thanks all!

Forgot to mention. The DT 4.5 and Little Sisters are also Artist Editions, so now I can focus on getting I ~ V Artist Editions. And I still have space for Concordance and DT Companion once CD gets them released.

Man, this is hard to keep up with. Whew!

Big thanks to The Collector.... my COTW slipcase is now protecting my book...

http://i755.photobucket.com/albums/xx199/Drake1969/SK%20Library/SAM_3309_zpsgo4hukom.jpg

And now, another reorganization of my bookcase....

http://i755.photobucket.com/albums/xx199/Drake1969/SK%20Library/SAM_3311_zpsdwd3dnqq.jpg

For display, I'm keeping all the DT books together. Now I need to come up with about $160 for a nice acrylic case to protect them with, preferably one with a wooden base.

Very nice. You have the shelves set up so well with the books and extras.

Thanks again!

I really don't want to overcrowd it though.... especially when I add new stuff. If it gets TOO cluttered, it will start to look gaudy, and that's what I want to avoid.

I'm wide open to any suggestions anyone might have for organization of my shelving. Just post away!

Might be worth buying this (http://www.ebay.com/itm/THE-TALISMAN-by-Stephen-King-1984-1st-Ed-RARE-VERY-NICE-/151852566175?hash=item235b1e469f:g:bYMAAOSwI-BWFeza) and swapping jackets...

Offer less, it's advertised as a 1st print, but is clearly a third.

Would the jacket price be different then?

No for a 3rd printing I would expect it to be the same. Worth checking though.

I think you may be seeing the glare of the flash from my camera as a faded book. The cover is protected in mylar and it's not faded or damaged in any way I can see.

I must admit I thought there was fading, the text should be deep red and bright yellow yours looks quite orange and white:

Yup, I compared it to my other Viking books with the same color combo. What my pic is showing is the glare from the mylar. The colors are nice and bright.

Thanks for the look out though! :cyclops:
