Ok folks, I think this is an exclusive for this site!

Hodder & Stoughton are releasing a limited edition version of Revival in the UK!

This edition will be limited to 500 copies only, details as follows:

Limited edition hardback with deluxe binding, slipcase, illustrated endpapers, author’s FACSIMILE signature and a silver plectrum engraved with the author’s signature.

Price is £100 (plus shipping) which is a little steep for a facsimile signature, but it may be the only limited version of this book to be printed.

Here are some images:

H & S have put the site up for ordering this, but as yet it has not been advertised anywhere, not even their own web site mentions this yet.

Please be aware, H & S state that they cannot ship this to the US or Canada, so you are going to need to ship to a UK address.

Here (http://www.revivalbook.co.uk/collectorsset/) is the exclusive link to the site.

It was £200 for their limited Doctor Sleep : was it a real signature or fac simile?

stroppygoblin
10-15-2014, 12:34 AM
facsimilie - I did mention that above.

EDIT: Apologies, I read what you posted wrong, you were asking if Dr Sleep was real or Facsimile...

There were 2 editions, Gift and Limited . The Gift was £100 and had a facsimile signature (700 copies), The Limited was £200 and had a real Signature (200 copies)

I agree, ditto here ... and it is pretty, especially with the guitar pick (I have 5 guitars) ... just had to remind myself that I don't need to branch out into UK editions and that I don't like facsimiles.

Thanks for the offer Randall. I've slept on this book and going to pass on it. The risk of spending £100+ and not getting a real signature is too great.

However, if anyone in us wants me to order one at cost pm me and will sort something.

Only condition is that it is for collection and not instant resale...(hope that doesn't sound rude, just happy to help someone add to their collection)

Hi Tippy, just seen your question, my answer is not really.

I quite like the look of this with the plectrum and the initial thought was a real signature would make it better.

On reflection for me not the best spur of the moment idea

Did the representative say why they have these restrictions on US purchasers?

My guess would be that only the UK limited rights were bought -- and apparently with very tight controls -- which suggests to me that the US limited rights reside with someone else. I can't conceive why else they would take such stringent measures to keep the UK and US markets separate. It would not surprise me at all to hear an announcement of a US limited relatively soon. Yet another reason I've no interest in this edition.

#1 Rule - Don't ask such things. They may not (and still may not) care about the origin of payment. They are only embargoed from shipping to the USA and Canada (that's the price Canada citizens pay for the USA defending them at no cost). Leave well enough alone.

Now I'm not going to get anybody too excited about it's contents, it does not contain anything Revival related. It's been kindly sent to me for auction in next years HF by someone who works for H & S and is a previous H & S King collectible. What IS interesting is that they have created these mailing packets specifically - I wonder what is being sent out in these???

I have to agree with you Bob... I find myself not buying many editions right off the get go... Not so much the S/L's but more so the GE's... I find for the most part they sell for less down the road. I would be far behind dollar wise had I bought them as they came out. There are some (like IT) that are much higher... but I agree with you on this for sure. I am waiting.

Wait until February and get a copy for £25 to £45, instead of the issue price of £100 direct from the publisher.

Every one of these H&S Facsimile copies sells for less than 1/3rd of issued price. I have never paid more than £45 for these editions. (I was robbed at £45).

They are poor quality productions. They are exactly the same paper quality, (shit), and you don't even get a dust jacket!
I decided to hold off buying this edition for the time being. What did you all decide?

I bought it. $170 + still have to pay a member here to ship to US! Ouch!

Your request has been fulfilled!
I hope to start shipping these out either Sat or Monday. PM me your shipping requests (Slow/cheap or fast/pricey also whether you require insurance and or tracking.

EDIT: Regarding the Airport Edition:

There IS an Airport edition. I confirmed this whilst in Australia. (they had it in the airport there but it was labelled "printed in Australia").
I didn't buy it as it would have meant it getting bashed about in my travel case and I *assumed* the UK airport would have it as well. Unfortunately that was not the case. I will be in and out of other airports over the next few weeks and will still keep an eye out for it.

It certainly adds a touch of class...

Info for the Catalogue, all versions are identical in terms of Copyright page and ISBN. The WH Smith book has a different colour binding (Yellow rather than Black) to has the same Yellow binding as the Standard Trade.

Also to preempt requests, all of these books are spoken for and were bought per existing requests. i *may* be able to get more of the Waterstones and WH Smiths, but let me know quick as if Mr Mercedes was anything to go by they only lasted about a week and the half price deal didn't hang around either.

Yes they do! Got mine in the mail today. Waterstones packaging leaves a lot to be desired but luckily the book was unharmed.

edit...........the "book" was unharmed but the dust jacket was not. I contacted Waterstones and rather than send another dust jacket (as I requested) they have shipped another book! Customer service above and beyond!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I saw this recently when I was working in Oz. The book is identical to the UK Airport edition, except that it states "Printed in Australia" on the back. Some may consider this ANOTHER variant

I know I'm late to the proverbial party, to say the least, but how / where would one get a blue UK HC with blue page-edge stain? Any leads / source info would be appreciated.

SG: Thanks, will get ahold of you if need be. Having slept on my post/request, though, I think I'm going to hold off on getting a "special" copy until I've actually read the thing...with reviews that are all over the board, I'd hate to spend $50 on a cool UK copy, get it, read it, and be among those that didn't care for it. Disappointment is easier to handle with you've just spent $12 at Costco (half-off) on the book rather than $50.

Darn thing sure is pretty, though.
