I'm torn on this one. I think I have voted for Blade Runner in each round so far.

Terminator 2. Definitely liked it more than Blade Runner but, at the same time, I have a difficult time saying that it's the best sci-fi film ever.

Broad vs. Deep. As well as if it was planned that way. Not to suggest that T2 has no substance at all or that BR appeals only to the narrowest audience, but their greatest respective strengths are opposite. This is pop vs. cult.

Also interesting about this match is the coincidence that they both feature androids. The cyborg showdown rolls on. lol

Blade Runner is an amazing film. I know it does not have all the CG effects of T2 but that makes it all the more impressive.

True. They are as different as two sci fi films can be. Makes this an interesting match up me thinks.

That's fine, it doesn't really need them. Not that kinda film. Its strength lies in its more literary elements. That and its almost prophetic vision of the future.

One thing we could do is get more votes for Blade Runner!

Heather19
09-24-2014, 09:51 AM
Maybe what we've done in the past, and count votes for what people stated in the thread?

fernandito

That's a good suggestion, Heather. Might just do that.

I'll break any tie. Not voting this having only seen one. I can watch it and bring the ban hammer down lol.

T2 vs 12 M will be as extreme as this match. Expect tons of time travel debate -- especially if the comments-break-a-tie rule is in effect.

Both are excellent movies. I love love love both of them. I've got the T2 ultimate edition and the Blade Runner 5-disc box set and have watched them both, all verisons, all special features, and all commentaries. When all is said and done, my vote goes to:

Terminator 2

You’re in a desert walking along in the sand when all of the sudden you look down, and you see a tortoise, it’s crawling toward you. You reach down, you flip the tortoise over on it's back. The tortoise lays on it's back, it's belly baking in the hot sun, beating it's legs trying to turn it'self over, but it can’t, not without your help. But you’re not helping. Why is that?
