Me three. Even books I don't like dont usually get all C's from me. King rarely gets a C from me in character development in a book of this length. I also think the plot was rather engaging. And King would NEVER get a C for quality of writing from me. Even for books I hated like the Regulators. The quality of writing is still better than the average author.
True, King's writing is always on par, but when it's 700-800 pages of writing about nothing?

I agree. I didn't start to enjoy The Dark Tower series until The Wastelands, and then this one followed it up. Just pulled me right out of the story, and it was never able to get back that momentum that had started for me. Also I really could care less about Roland's younger years. And Susan just really irritated me.
:harrier: Us rebels should stick together, Heather!

I was tempted to vote the same, but I overcame the temptation due to many good things that were there. I gave it BBB.

It would have gotten all As from me if it was alone.
(hell, that part deserves more than As, it's some of my favorite pages in the whole fucking literature)

The framing story was the only redeeming part of the book. Sadly about 95% of it was filled with a long boring flashback.
quite
there were some good things there, too, but very few
