Yeah, this one was just all over the place. When I think back on it, I remember scenes, but not there order or progression. To me this book is not plot driven, the characters are just moving through a backdrop of different scenes. They are written very well, and the characters are quite well developed, but it seemed that they could have been doing anything else and it would have been just as interesting. For that matter, the entire series is more character driven for me than plot driven, this book just illustrates that better than the others.

you have just opened my eyes - no sarcasm. I just realized that for me a really good story is one that is character-driven; this is both necessary and sufficient; or rather, more sufficient than necessary (I can concede there are good stories with little character development). You are 100% right in what you said, especially this

the characters are just moving through a backdrop of different scenes

but it's exactly what I loved about it. By the way, it's very much like Alice in Wonderland. I might develop this thought later, it's a promising one.

For me, the best stories are character driven as well. If I don't care about the characters in the story, the plot must be very intricately woven indeed to sustain my interest.
