I voted wrong. I thought I was voting on Wolves. This is not a 5. It is a 2 for me.

I'll take that into account when calculating the score.

But maybe we could keep it at 5? :)

Charitable 3. I never cared for the character of Detta/Odetta/Susannah/Mia much at all.

I loved this one as well, it's my second favorite DT novel after Drawing. It's short and sweet and has some of the best scenes King's written.

This was the least enjoyable of the DT books for me.

the picture below is the closest I could find to what bears want to show:

What? A bear in need of a pedicure who is also holding a rather large berry? :P

Hey, I really do hate giving any DT books less than 5. But I just never could manage to care that much about Susannah/Odetta/Detta. And I still hate that I feel that way, but it's true...

Funnily, despite the title, Susannah wasn't that large a part of this for me.

Yeah, but she ate frogs and it was all "the chap" this and "the chap" that. The chap the chap the chap. Bah.

I gave it a 2. I almost gave it 1 but it's not quite as bad as Lisey's Story and Gerald's Game. This book was the reason I couldn't rate DT higher than I did for our Top 100 thingy.

I feel like the whole book could've been condensed into really strong 50 pages or even 100.

I gave it a 3, and strongly considered a 2.5. I agree about condensing the book. I believe WOTC and SOS should have been one book, with the condensed versions a tighter story.

Yeah, but she ate frogs and it was all "the chap" this and "the chap" that. The chap the chap the chap. Bah.

I got really really tired of Mia and her effing chap, too...but Rev. Harrigan and John Cullem were such welcome treats, they redeemed the story for me.

it looks like this volume fell victim of the long-standing misunderstanding. The Dark Tower is, as bears never get bored to repeat, a multivolume novel. Volume 6 is its integral part, and has lots and lots of ilncredibly good stuff; but many people don't like Susannah (for some reason that has escaped me all those years, Susannah being my favorite DT character) and associate this particular volume with her alone. Very sad.

Actually, at least for me, it's more the "Mia" character that derails this volume, but you're right there are a lot of other great elements to the tale.

I'm only one vote. I didn't personally kill it, in fact I considered giving it a 2 instead of the 3 I voted.
