Very sad seeing Eyes Without a Face and A Tale of Two Sisters competing against one another here. Two very good films. I went with Eyes.

LOVED the first SAW. When the big reveal came I was blown away. LOve that stuff!
I don't think I ever saw any other Saw movies :) The first was pretty good, even somewhat original, but there are way better films here.

A Tale of Two Sisters, great film.
Evil Dead 2
I'm kinda surprised we had three Evil Dead movies nominated for this tournament. I wouldn't have thought it would be the most represented horror franchise.

Definitely A Tale of Two Sisters. One of my all-time favorite films, regardless of genre. Tremendous movie.

No Mimic love? Y'all are crazy. This is why I could vote for multiple choices in these early rounds, then I could give love to both The Last Exorcism and Mimic but I have to try and help The Last Exorcism. I haven't seen Mimic in forever and may have to watch it now because of this goosegg :(
Wow, it's been so long since I've seen Mimic I didn't realise the cast was so stacked. I only remembered Northam, Dutton and Sorvino.

I absolutely love Evil Dead 2. What a hoot of a movie. It didn't get my vote here, of course, but as far as a fun popcorn movie it's hard to beat. Lots of laughs all around.

Agreed. I remember the first time me and my friends watched Evil Dead, as soon as it finished we literally ran back to Blockbuster (we were in college and had no cars on campus). Got there right before it closed and rented the next two movies.

The Evil Dead, for it's time, was a great horror movie. The sequel is an intentionally comedic campfest recreation of the original. I watch The Evil Dead 2 to laugh, as well as Army of Darkness but I watch the original to take it in. The remake is even a better film from several respects.
I loved Mimic. I couldn't vote for it (or TLE) with the Sisters there, but it was an absolutely fantastic film.
It has about the best atmosphere ever for a horror movie and an ingenious idea as well. They found a way to take the 'scientist creates monster' idea but apply it so that we don't view the scientists as mad or evil but merely people working tirelessly to save the lives of many children and that the idea of what they created evolving and becoming an even bigger threat to mankind wasn't something they had time to look into. The idea of the film taking place centrally in the ancient subway systems of New York was a stroke of genius. The 90's was a fantastic decade for monster movies (Emmerich's Godzilla aside) and it's always fun to revisit them.
Have you ever seen The Relic, Jean? That was also a very unique and creative monster movie in the way it was executed...I almost nominated it instead of Mimic but Mimic is just a little better.

no, I don't think I've seen it. I don't normally watch monster films, Mimic was only because of Del Toro.
The Devil's Rock looks pretty good, I'll have to check it out.
