There's quite a few good films in this group, but I had to go with Let the Right One In.

Army of Darkness is one of my favorite movies overall but I don’t know that I can consider it one of the best horror movies. I’m gonna wait and see how the voting goes as there are some other good ones here too.

I had forgotten that I’d seen Orphan until I saw the pic up there.

Orphan is not a very good movie, but bears adore films with wicked children

fuuuuhhhhhhhhhhh

Let The Right One In, Event Horizon and Dawn of the Dead are three of my favorite horror films ever. Going to have to think about this one.

I'm torn between Orphan and Misery. Orphan was a total surprise and blew my expectations out of the water (plus Vera Farmiga is the best), but Misery is a fantastic example of psychological horror and one of the best King adaptations. :panic:

I preferer Let Me In and would vote that if it were on here...will ponder a little longer.

I was actually surprised at how good a movie it was.

Think I might be going Dawn of the Dead. While I think the remake is a better zombie film, I was very surprised at the way Romero's original changed underneath itself and I found myself connected to the characters and it went from a lot of tongue in cheek humour to some starkly intense sequences, especially when the group of people led by the master of zombies, Tom Savini, arrived inside the mall. I still haven't seen 'Night' or Day' of the Dead yet either.

It was very good for its genre, just not awesomely good as a film. I think I gave it a 4+, or maybe even a 5-

I have seen and either really liked or loved all of these films, with the exception of Event Horizon, which I felt was "just ok." So how am I supposed to vote?

Jean

you're supposed to vote Misery, LOL. It sits here with a 0, being a totally decent film

Yeah, this bracket is filled with quality horror films. (My one exception is Orphan, didn't like it, but it seems loved by many others). I'm sad that Let the Right One In only has my vote so far. When it comes to vampire films its one of the best.

And what about Misery, a Best Picture nominee?

Heather19

I'm surprised that one doesn't have more votes as well, right along with An American Werewolf in London. The votes all over the board with this one.

Hm, speaking of the Dawn of the Dead, this is interesting: http://www.containsmoderateperil.com/dawn-of-the-dead-the-extended-mall-hours-cut-2008/

I was leaning toward Misery, but hard to vote against Jaws and Let the Right One In. I saw An American Werewolf in London in my early teens (it was a fave of all my school friends, so I've got a soft spot for that one as well). Army of Darkness is a total blast but I see that as more fantasy/comedy horror than a pure horror film. Dawn of the Dead is a classic, though overly long. I thought Orphan was very good, and the reveal caught me totally of guard.

I actually try to vote without seeing the current tallies or what others are doing, so my vote depends only on my feelings and not influenced by sympathy for a "0" or whatever.

Having said that, I'll go with my first gut. Misery it is. Just barely over Jaws.

I like the french title for Jaws. The teeth of the ocean is much better than Jaws.

Whoa, Misery now with 4 votes, surpassing Orphan and Dawn of the Dead.

I ended up going with Dawn of the Dead because of it's seminal attributes, but I'm gutted I didn't vote for Let The Right One In. :(

I’ve seen Let Me In and enjoyed it very much but I’ve never seen Let the Right One In. I’m assuming they are very similar but I just couldn’t vote for a movie I hadn’t seen.

That's a shame. Personally I feel Let the Right One in was miles above the American remake. The two child actors in the original were outstanding. I'd definitely recommend checking it out.

I watched it last night and can’t say that it’s any better or worse than the remake. If anything, I liked the American version slightly better.

For some reason, the girl in the American version kinda irritated me. Not sure why cause I don't mind her in other stuff.
