After spending the past couple hours drooling over your absolutely amazing collections, I've decided to (embarrassingly) add the humble beginning to my new collection. Having sold off my entire collection 6 years ago, I AM a bit disheartened to find that some of my favorites are now nowhere to be found. BUT.......I am also excited about all the new books that have come out since my departure! I'm really looking forward to getting back into the hunt and watching my collection grow throughout the years.

Welcome to the group. I am relatively new to the group myself. This is a great place to pick up some books if King is what you plan on getting back into. Great Coraline book. My daughters loved that book

Yep. That's all, folks! :)

There's nothing to be ashamed of in there! We all started slowly, and now look what happens!

All of our collections started with that first book!!!

You may want to check out the Haven Fund auctions for some really cool items. We have a great set of "Green Mile" editions live right now!!

Great re-start! I see a jacketless Gunslinger. Several members on here have dust jackets, you should ask around.

Keep an eye on the Collectible Classifieds thread! I've been on the site for less than a year, but have already acquired lots of new acquisitions from my fellow dt members. Of course, I've also spent lots of money

And welcome!!!

What's that INSOMNIA from Viking you have there? Is it a first printing of a new edition?

That's the Viking edition, not the Grant one. I suppose it's possible that someone has a dust jacket for that edition :)

It's a beat up 1st/1st missing its dust jacket.

So many of us never take off the Jackets to see the book underneath. I myself am constantly thrown when I see a jacket-less book - I think - woah! whats that? I want that one too!

I'll have a few new items going in my bookcase this week! Does anyone else get really impatient when it comes to waiting on books to arrive? Or is it a new collector thing..... lol I find myself checking tracking numbers at least a couple times a day.

I do the same thing, depending on the book, though.

I have learned to be patient. Books I ordered (and paid for) many years ago have still not arrived. And never will, the publishers having gone out of business. I hope they enjoyed my money.

Hopefully I'll have some King books coming by weeks end, I did however have these waiting for me when I got to work this morning. :) I have no idea who this guy is but I saw this while cruising around on Ebay and thought it looked kinda neat.

Lettered Edition of The Damned by William Ollie

I picked up Letter X and a PC. In a couple days they'll be making the trek down to Alex McVey, who did the illustrations, to be signed and remarqued.

Acquisitions from the past couple weeks. I've got the dust jackets off and waiting for my Brodarts to arrive. I'll also have a few more coming from Grant in a week or so.

Many, many thanks to Randall Flagg, tippy4 and namelessnpoor for their excellent packaging! As for gift edition Insomnia.....the Ebay seller has filed an insurance claim with USPS over the damage that was caused while in transit. I want to keep the book but I have no idea how USPS insurance claims work.

Also, thank you all for the very warm welcome!! :) I don't have any friends that are into book collecting so it's nice to have a place to come to and see what other people are adding to their collections and get some input on whatever silly questions I might have.

In my experience, do not hold out much promise for the USPS to make good on an insurance claim. I'm not saying it cannot happen, but I had a valuable book shipped to me from Europe that was damaged severly. It may have even been further damaged in delivery and I got absolutely NOWHERE with the USPS even though the insurance had been paid. They really suck!!

However, I very much wish that mine was an isolated instance and everything works out for you.

In any case, Nice additions!!

Luckily, in my case, the seller went ahead and refunded me half of what I paid for the book instead of making me wait for the claim to go through. So I ended up paying $37.50 for an Insomnia Gift Ed. with a slightly bumped slipcase.

BDN, great to see your collection!

In regards to your earlier question, I am very patient waiting for books to arrive. This is mainly due to conditioning from all the preorders that take months or years to arrive. So timeframes of a week or two don't even register with me.
