Our Constant Reader Awards (CRAs) have been an irregular but consistent feature here at TheDarkTower.org since 2009. They were meant to be annual, but for a variety of reasons that hasn't been the case. So, the CRAs have turned into a biennial event. The first Constant Reader Awards started in 2008 and ended in 2009, followed by CRAs in 2010 and 2012. So we can now officially call these 2014 Constant Reader Awards our 4th biennial CRAs.
The premise is simple. We are voting on each book in King's canon to crown the Best Book. So far, thrice in a row, it's been The Stand, unshakably. The voting also allows for ranking of the books from the top on down. Please looks through the sub-forum archives here for past rankings.
The voting is done in three rounds, and Round 1 will commence on March 19! :excited:
This time around the voting will be slightly different, but overall the process will be the same. In Round 1 we will be rating each book on a scale of 0 to 5 with ten options as opposed to five. Also unlike before, there won't be any bracket winners or runners-up, as we're moving to a simple ranking system, where the overall top thirty books will be moving on to Round 2. The last two rounds will largely function the same as before: in Round 2 we will grade the books on three areas, grading each A, B, or C. These areas have been slightly modified for 2014. The final round will also be slightly different, since the poll question won't be "Which book would you rather re-read", but instead "Which book do you consider better".
We've had a lot of fun doing these CRAs in the past, so we are very much looking forward to another successful run with lots of participation and lively discussion. It all starts next Wednesday, March 19!
