That was a hard one but TLW is one of my all time favourites. I have lost count of the number of times I have read this story.

I chose The Shining, but it was not an easy decision. I made my final decision based on my initial reactions to the first time I read these books. Both are stellar books, in my opinion.

The Shining is easily the winner, it has more depth.

Even though both stories are great, I think comparing a 500 page novel to a much shorter novella is a bit unfair and rather one sided.

The Shining is easily the winner, it has more depth. I can't quite see how. It has more width, sure, but TWL is an unexhaustibly deep parable.
