you may find me naked
you may find me in your bed
you may find me under pressure
you will always find me at the end of a smile

Jean
12-20-2013, 06:45 AM
is the answer one word?

stroppygoblin
12-20-2013, 06:46 AM
yes

Jean
12-20-2013, 06:49 AM
the only two things bears seem to have found at the end of a smile are a laugh and a half and the letter "e"...

: thinking hard :

The syntax of the last clue doesn't work but otherwise...

Diamond

stroppygoblin
12-20-2013, 07:16 AM
Sorry Br!an - not correct.

All clues lead to the same answer!

ladysai
12-20-2013, 09:30 AM
The letter e?

Jean
12-20-2013, 09:41 AM
that's what bears suspected, but rejected

stroppygoblin
12-20-2013, 09:59 AM
e is incorrect - the answer is a word

ladysai

e is incorrect - the answer is a word

Bears were right.

I'm not surprised.

I suspected diamond as well but it doesn't it all clues.

More pondering is in order.

Jean
12-24-2013, 02:09 PM
bears are so busy now they can't even find a moment to think!! they will try again, but maybe it's time for another clue?

stroppygoblin
12-24-2013, 02:33 PM
Ok Christmas Clues...

The first 3 lines have a similar theme
The last line is more cryptic and involves TDT

ladysai
12-24-2013, 03:09 PM
Are the first three lines related to water?

stroppygoblin
12-24-2013, 04:46 PM
Are the first three lines related to water?

No, Sorry.
All 4 lines lead to the same word which is the answer to the riddle

Br!an
12-24-2013, 06:22 PM
A lie

A naked lie
Lie in bed
Lie under duress (pressure)
sm-ile > sm-lie
"First come smiles, then comes lies." Roland Deschain

"Last is gunfire"

Jean
12-24-2013, 10:20 PM
if I abstract altogether of the last clue then the answer probably is

lie

only I am not sure whether in English there's expression

naked lie, as opposed to naked truth

I don't know how to fit the last clue in, though

stroppygoblin
12-25-2013, 12:30 AM
Merry Christmas riddlers, but 'Lie' is not the answer!

EXPLORER
12-25-2013, 05:44 AM
? Worms

stroppygoblin
12-25-2013, 11:11 AM
No, not Worms.

Focus on Smile, think of similar word that has a DT connection...

I've just looked inseide Br!an's spoiler!!!!!!! I know how my mind worked (although wrong), but how did yours? how is it possible to come to the same wrong conclusion????

EXPLORER
12-27-2013, 09:52 AM
a bear

Jean
12-27-2013, 09:57 AM
bears will not look inside that spoiler!!!

please goblin, if someone gives the right answer, let it stay in the spoilerbox, so bears (and the others, of course) can still try to find the solution themselves!

stroppygoblin
12-27-2013, 03:36 PM
Ok EXPLORER is Correct and wins the goose!

I will give Jean some time and then I will post how the answer was reached!

Me either.

Jean

another clue? sometimes bears are stumped by things that are obvious to native speakers

stroppygoblin
12-28-2013, 03:47 AM
For those that want to know how EXPLORER go to this..

'You may find me naked' - this is a homophone and the answer is 'bare'
'You may find me in your bed' - this is literal and refers to a toy or teddy 'bear'
'You may find me under pressure' - this is a homonym and the answer is 'bear' ie to 'bear down'
'You will always find me at the end of a smile' - This is the most cryptic. A wide smile is often referred to as a 'beam' as in 'he has a beaming smile' Obviously 'Beam' is a reference to TDT and one of the Beams has a Bear guardian at the end (Bear to Turtle), so there is always a bear at the end of a beam (or smile).

I hate to be picky but that's two words. I actually thought of that and rejected it since it didn't fit all the clues.

My original answer was without the 'A'

stroppygoblin
12-28-2013, 09:39 AM
So, for Jean and others...
The answer is a <something> where the something is one word.

The only clue I can give (without giving the game away) would be for the last line...

'Animals are guarding the smile'

Jean
12-28-2013, 11:38 AM
beam = smile!!!!

I know, I know!!! it's a bear!!

naked = bare
bear pressure

have no idea what's "in your bed", though

I rejected the homonym. I guess I need to learn the rules.

I was thinking of Goldilocks too. Though it was Goldilocks found in the bed; it was the bear's bed, so it works.
