Sorry if there is already a topic like this, I searched and found nothing.

I had the privilege of seeing Nine Inch Nails live back at the end of September, in Kansas City. It was a truly awesome experience. A six-peice (8 counting the backup singers. Yes, backup singers at a NIN show, and it blew me away. Into the Void. The Wretched. Even Deeper. Black Noise. Holy fuck!) band including Pino Palladino, Josh Eustis, Alessandro Cortini, Ilan Rubin, Robin Finck, and obvioously Trent Reznor. It was by far the best show I've ever seen. Tool is great, but it's really no comparison (in recent tours, at least).

I have always been a huge fan of nin. Well since closer debuted on the radio. Their stage is amazing. Bon jovi actually bought there old one. I hope trent puts out a new dvd or bluray of the current tour. There is a cool doc on youtube about putting the current tour together.

I don't really have any significant pictures, but I went to see Weezer live the past two nights.
The Blue Album was night #1. They started by playing various songs from each album in reverse chronological order until they reached The Blue Album. They did this really cool slide show where they showed old band photos, old flyers, snips of reviews, a throwback to when they first started. Then, they performed the entire Blue Album start to finish with no breaks. It was so fucking fantastic.
Night #2 was the same, except they ended by playing Pinkerton beginning to end.

These two albums are so melded with my memories of being a teenager. The nostalgia I feel listening to them has never faded over the past 20 years. Seeing Weezer perform back in 95-96 was my second ever concert, and one of my most cherished concert memories. So, to revisit my youth like that....there are no words to convey the awesomeness of it. :wub: :D

Then of course there's my long term love affair with 30 Seconds to Mars. I won the original Golden Ticket, so I was able to attend at least 30 shows for free over the course of 3 years. Pretty awesome.

So far this has been the best year for live music for me in a long time. Here's what I saw for free this year. First I saw two of the three Fare Thee Well/ Grateful Dead 50th anniversary shows in Chicago followed by Lockn' festival about a month ago. Even being cut from four days to three it was one hell of a good time. Both were very kind gifts. Lockn' lineup...

Surprised my wife with tickets to a small show featuring Confederate Railroad. I don't really know the band but I knew my wife grew up listening to them. Fun atmosphere and my wife had a good time. I little hard for me as I didn't know the songs. The best moments were when they sang a Dr. Hook song and sang Simple Man as an encore. After the show the band mingled with the crowd and my wife was able to ask them some questions and have a few photos taken.

The cool thing to me was that the venue was in a 300 seat old school auditorium originally built in 1912 as an Opera House. Neat little theater.

Not too big a fan of huge venues, but the two times in life that I've had the opportunity to see Tool, I took full advantage. The first was 15 or so years ago back home in Alaska. The latest was last summer in Sacramento. Tool continue to put on an amazing show, regardless of the venue, Alaskan venue is known for its horrible accoustics. Sacramento turned the entire floor into a VIP area, so a buddy and I had to jump to 15ft down after lights out to get the full experience.

I saw Ringworm and Harms Way this past weekend in Toronto. Yes, it's "Harms". Their major label debut is ridiculously heavy. It has more in common with Godflesh than hardcore.

I'm going to Detroit on Saturday to see American Nightmare and No Warning. After that it's Soulfly. I simply cannot stand anything Max Cavalera has done since he quit Sepultura, but it's Soulfly playing the entire Nailbomb record. I'll dutifully attend the show in hopes Max's son doesn't butcher the songs too much. That kid's an awful drummer.

2. Ricky! You should remedy that one day. There is nothing quite like that feeling of live music. Of course, although I’ve been to a lot of concerts, I only go to see my favorite bands/musicians. I can’t do the whole “I like a few of this band’s songs, so I’m gonna go to the show”. But, if it’s something you’re really into, there is nothing that compares to that energy of hearing one of your favorite songs done live. Gah! It’s the best, really.

But I get what you're saying. And I agree with the not paying a ridiculous amount of money for a ticket. Honestly, when I hear about really big musicians charging a huge amount of money for their tickets, it makes me dislike them a bit. I get that you might be a huge deal musically, but I think it's a pretty shitty thing to do to your fans who just want to see you perform.

Haha. It's true! Man, it's true. But when the music starts, you somehow start to care less about all the people around you. Then, when the concert is over and you're trying to leave, you hate the people all over again, but just a tiny bit less than usual because you're riding that post-live-music-high. :lol:

It makes complete sense. It's like you're getting VIP treatment without paying extra every time. haha
So, I've never been to a book signing, but I did go to that King event back when End of Watch was released. Since I had never done it before, I was all blown away by the fact that my ticket included my seat and a copy of the book, like "What a steal! This is the best thing ever" :lol:

The best remedy for concerts and the stupid, smelly, view obscuring people is...go to the concert...don't wear pants!! It is even more effective if you wear those white fruit of the loom briefs and add a few well placed, well colored (green works) stains. Tighty whities with green, brown,orange and yellow stains may prevent you from getting back stage passes but the lines to the bathroom and beer stands just evaporate (Drink from the cocktail stands. You will clear the lines faster. The ladies in THOSE lines much more repulsed by this type of apparel. Avoid the whiskey stands.)


As to traffic...just drink a lot and pass out. The parking lot and roads are usually clear by the next morning

I'm going to see Brian Fallon perform Monday night. I'm not just excited because it's Brian Fallon, but also because it's in a fairly small/intimate venue that I've yet to go to.
Having said that, I am slightly nervous that it's gonna be one of those places/settings where everyone remains seated during the show. Have you guys ever been to a show where no one stood up? I had that happen on two occasions and it was the weirdest fucking thing in the world for me. :lol:

So I knew the venue was also a winery, but I didn't know that the venue's "seats" were at these long rows of tables where you had to sit directly next to and across from other people the whole night. The lady showed us to our seats and then we were immediately greeted by our server for the night. My husband and I were so uncomfortable and told the server we would need a few minutes to look at our menu. To add to the awkwardness, a couple then sat down across from us and introduced themselves. My husband and I sat there for a few minutes, then got up from the table and found a spot against the back wall for a bit, just to feel more normal.
I guess I understand going to a show and sitting at a table if you're seeing Wayne Newton or something, but it was just super bizarre to go to a rock show and see people ordering/eating entire meals during a concert.

It was crazy! My husband and I couldn't stop laughing at the entire thing all night. He talked to the merch guy at one point and asked: "Why did ya'll book this place to play at?" and the guy was all: "It was last minute and we won't do it again."

We went to a concert last summer, it's at this small music hall, but they have tables there and most people go earlier and order dinner before the show. I've been there twice now, the first time was for a rather unknown person. We went to dinner beforehand and got there right as the show started, the whole upstairs was open, so we found some sofas up there and sat and enjoyed the show. The next time we went earlier, but underestimated how early to get there so the place was pretty much almost full. The person brought us upstairs to a booth where there was already 1 guy sitting there and kindly asked him if we could join him. Good thing he was super cool, but it was a bit awkward sitting at a small booth with a stranger :lol:

Wow. I was being a cynic when I clicked on this link. I was thinking I was going to cringe at an old Alice Cooper trying to be relevant now in his sixties (seventies?). How wrong I was. He’s still got it!

And one of my favorite Stones clips. 1981 during their Tattoo You Tour. They just showed up at a Muddy Waters show in Chicago at the Checkerboard Lounge (Buddy Guy's place, long gone now). They sat down at a table in front of the stage, watched the show for a while, then came on stage and played with him. Muddy was one of their idols! So cool! The cast of characters that come and go during the clip is something to see. A great time capsule of the early 80's. :)

Thanks! They're my all-time favourite. Their post-reunion records are OK at best but they still play a lot of classics live. Page Hamilton is pushing 60 and still brings it live.

Livenation.ca had a $20 ticket promotion. I bought four tickets for Slayer for $80 total. Bands are Napalm Death, Testament, Lamb of God, Anthrax, Slayer. I've paid more than $20 for Napalm Death alone. VERY excited to be able to walk down the street for this.

That's pretty amazing considering the lineup! I never saw Napalm Death live, unfortunately... although I came close once when I was fifteen and they were going to play at our tiny local punk/hardcore/metal hangout (this was back in '89 when they were still relatively unknown - I think they'd only released Scum at the time). But their gig was cancelled, unfortunately. I saw a lot of punk and hardcore bands there back in the day... mostly from the UK but Greenday also played there before anyone had heard of them in Europe (probably in 1992). Fun times...

I just saw Ghost at the Fillmore in Detroit last night and they were fantastic. They bring out a strange crowd which was to be expected but an absolutely awesome show.

Opening night on their new tour (May 17th). They still got it! :) Mick is 74, Keith is 74, Charlie is 76 and Ronnie is 70! Incredible! Mick looks like he could run a marathon! I hope and pray I am that fit at 74! Keith is laboring, but it's a damn miracle he is still alive, let alone playing stadium shows! Ronnie looks way younger than his age, especially considering the amount of alcohol he has consumed in his life. Charlie... what can you say. That guy could play in his 90's and still never miss a beat! :)

I highly recommend folks watch the Worakls performance above. It's always great seeing an orchestra paired with a difference music genre, but this was also very enjoyable to watch cause the musicians are getting into it and visibly enjoying themselves. It was great!

Don't flip it. You will regret it. I once traded a Dio ticket for some weed, blotter and a Monsters of Rock ticket. I always said I get to see Dio in the future. He is no longer with us. I regret it to this day! Don't fear going alone. I always though it would be awkward but I went to a concert alone last winter and I not only lived through it...I enjoyed it!! It's POSSIBLE the Earth stopped rotating for the duration of the concert because I went to a concert alone but...I have my doubts.

I saw Agnostic Front (for probably the 20th time) and Prong a few days ago. I'll be seeing Slapshot (a hardcore bands that started in the mid-80s and are still playing) in Toronto on Thursday. After that it's Sick Of It All with Napalm Death in Detroit on October 16.

I went alone to the last four concerts I attended: Tool in 2007, Tool in 2006, Roger Waters in 2006, Duran Duran in 2005. And when I saw Duran Duran in 1993, I wasn't alone, but my seat was separate from the 3 people who went with me (only I was willing to pay extra for 7th row or whatever it was), so I was alone for the music.
