I was going to delay this until I got my latest shipments back from the US (and then put them into some sort of order) but as I had some time to spare I'd show them now and have something to add at a later date...

"This is my bookcase. There are many like it but this one is mine..." :shoot:

My main focus now is US 1st editions, supplemented by Artist and Gift Editions. I'm afraid S/L and S/N are *way* out of my financial reach. I started out with UK hardbacks and if you look closely you will see piled up behind the US 1st's all my UK books! Mrs Goblin tolerates 1 case but no more :( so everything will have to fit in this one (for now <evil maniacal laugh>)

Top row is my Limiteds and Gift editions:

http://www.thedarktower.org/gallery/data/922/medium/IMG_0014_zps47ef229c.jpg

Two books of note are the traycased S/N Riding the Bullet and Anniversary Edition of Christine. My Full Dark No Stars is on the waiting list to be remarqued by Vincent (as is my Trade Dr Sleep)

Shelf 2 is The Dark Tower and Grant shelf. It will have to end up being just DT I think. I'd like it to be all Artist signed but that means including additional trade 1sts as well...

http://www.thedarktower.org/gallery/data/922/medium/IMG_0015_zpse3000a98.jpg

Gunslinger 1 a 1st/2nd Flatsigned by SK - I am looking to trade this for a 1st/1st signed by Whelan....
DOTT is due to be replaced by one I have bought from a forum member recently and has been signed by Phil Hale
Wastelands is a 1st/1st (unsigned)
W & G is flatsigned by SK
All others are Artist editions and then 1st Trades (3rd state Gunslinger and 2nd state DOTT). Final WTTKH is UK limited with the facimile Sig)
Finally we have the beautiful Grant slipcased Talisman and Black House (signed by Straub)

ooh Trade SOS is also flatsigned by SK and Darrel Anderson:

a couple of Joe Hills have crept onto shelf 3. I have the UK S/N Heart Shaped Box #192 and the (nonslipcased) S/N Gunpowder #24. I know a lot of forum members like Joe but I'm not a huge fan. I bought these as potential trades. (PM me if you would like to discuss possible trades!)

Goblins *love* nice things. The normal problem is they will take them from you and then eat you. Me, well I'm too nice

John

Actually, its not so much the second case thats the problem - its where to put it! Unlike some of the US members with entire rooms at their disposal (i'm looking at you Mr Dettweiler!) we are limited on wall space. I have an office but its a garden one and I would worry about extremes of cold and damp during the winter.

A few more signatures..
1st up is UK Bag of Bones I picked this up recently as the price was good for a UK signed. Its available for trade or sale if anyone is interested - also has the event ticket for provenance .

This is my 1st edition Black House - signed by Straub. I bought this from a local collector who had never noticed the signature!

next up, the S/N Chadbourne Remarque series... I got in early on this and snagged #3. I currently have just the 1st 4 but there is a few more waiting to be bought including Dr Sleep and Joyland 1st editions. I love the remarques but I simply do not have the shelf space, especially as I have been replacing my early BCE's with 1st/1sts.

These deserve to go to a good home - they are currently on ebay, but I am willing to give a really good deal to any member here who would like to take up the options on future books from The Overlook Bookstore. - PM me if interested.

UPDATE: These have now been sold!

I believe those are from the limited Overlook Connection/Chadbourne remarque collection. You can get a better look on the Overlook site if that helps.

Sweet collection. Could you provide a better picture of those providence letters with the seals on them? They see quite unique in an of themselves.

Sure, here is the providence letter for the Carrie remarque. I 've also included a picture of the actual remarque in the book as well as the Chadbourne internal seal with the limited no. written in the eyes.
As Merlin correctly states these are from the limited Overlook Connection/Chadbourne collection. PM me if you are interested in them, I am willing to give members a great deal on these (substantially less than you would pay to start the collection from scratch AND you get no 3!)

UPDATE - These have now been Sold!

Beautiful work. I appreciate the offer, but I tend to try to get remarques from the artist who has done the illustration on each particular book. These are quite interesting. Thanks as well Merlin. I had not really kept in touch with Overlook, though I did get many books from them in my early collecting years. I had not seen these.

Yes that's the plan, although I can't claim to have been clever about this (I wasn't originally aware of the CD remarques). Vincent has put me on his waiting list - It's nice to have an artist in the UK for a change, certainly reduces the postage cost in sending and receiving the books... (I also have an idea of which scene I'd like him to draw and it definitely wont be like any of the others!)

Next is The Running Man. This one is in great shape apart from a crease in the top left and a small dent below it. Pages are barely yellowed. There is a crease in the spine (looks like a manufacturing defect) but nothing else, this book has never been read or opened!

and finally... Roadwork. This is the UK 1st/1st but it is MINT I cannot believe this book is over 30 years old. Minor shelf wear on the top and bottom, *minor* staining on the spine (though I think this may clean off, pictures are straight out of the shipping box) but everything else is just perfect. no creases, marks, very white pages and again never been read. I *really* wish this had been a US 1st in this condition!

and finally...

Roadwork. Stephen King. U.S. V.G. (http://www.ebay.com/itm/Roadwork-Stephen-King-U-S-V-G-/141140868118?pt=US_Fiction_Books&hash=item20dca6bc16)

Thanks. The price was pretty nice too. Originally they were starting price of $240 and no one bit. I offered him $200 after the auction finished and then retracted when I realised that roadwork was UK not US.
He re-listed at start of $99 and only had 1 bid - mine!. Now I have seen it in person, that roadwork is worth $99 alone!

A very nice man just knocked on my door and handed me a little package. Turns out a seller I just bought from lives literally around the corner from me. Cheapest postage on a King book for a LONG time!
Anyway, Colorado Kid 1st/1st (as defined by the 50599 number above the barcode) in absolutely mint unread condition!

Having now had time to look at the book at my leisure, I have to confess I'm not as impressed with it as I was Christine. The Cover and slipcase are great, I really like the clean look of the case with just the picture and no text. I have seen other peoples comments re the fonts used on the cover, but I quite like it. Art work on the inside cover and end papers is very good, but that's where it ends. There are NO additional illustrations within the story itself and for me the quality of the paper appears a little lower than what was used for Christine.
Added to the fact they sent me a different number - I'm less than enamoured with this one. Hopefully Carrie will be an improvement.

I think this whole "doing someone a favour" may have got lost in translation.... :)

In all seriousness though - Is this everyone else's understanding when ordering Pet Sematary, that you would get the same number that you got for Christine? (and future books) I definitely remember seeing this somewhere but cant track down the email...

So, PS got back to me on the same number issue. It appears that you needed to inform them after purchase of Christine that you would like the same number going forward. This obviously wasn't that well publicised as only 20 out of the 750 sold took them up on it!

PS have really pulled out the stops for me on this though and although Christine was sold out, they still had #14 in the Office unsold along with the matching #14 of Pet Sematary. They have asked me to send back my mismatched copies and will replace them with the #14 ones. I will also get #14 for all other books going forward!

If you missed out on getting a copy of Christine or Pet Sematary, PS will have one copy of each available w hen mine arrive back!

just wanted to post a couple of pictures of an item I received for my birthday...

This is a print of the original artwork for Rachel Readman's 'Constant Reader' Sculpture. Unfortunately Rachel had some machinery problems which meant she couldn't start work on my sculpture in time but very nicely sent me this print ahead of time. I had intended to wait till I got it framed but I hadn't realised until Rachel mentioned it in a PM that the colour work at the bottom was unique to mine as she had effectively 'remarqued it' as a bonus birthday present!

I absolutely love it and cannot wait to receive my sculpture. I have been given an insight to her next 2 pieces of work (after 'The Crimson King') which I will let Rachel announce when she is ready, but they are 2 (actually 3) of my favourite characters/scenes from the books. Now where's those damn lottery numbers....?

'pleased' is an understatement Rachel, In the word of Ferris Beuller- "It is so choice. If you have the means, I highly recommend picking one up."

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GV2Y2kIUkIs

I'd also like to add that the reason I love this site is that the people on it are not just the collectors of SK's books, they include the artists, the publishers, the authors of books about SK, it is a treasure trove of information and insight. If I hadn't joined this site I *may* have stumbled across Rachel's work and I would obviously still have brought the statue, but I would have missed out on the direct connection and personal touch that she has given to me along with the purchase. This goes for publishers such as PS Publishing & CD as well as authors such as George Beahm, Bev Vincent, artists like Vincent Chong - all of which I have been able to have direct communication with as a result of being a member of TDT.org. This site rocks!

SO after that emotional outburst (unbecoming of a goblin I know) let me add a shameless plug. If YOU have benefited from any of the people above, (or the many others I have not mentioned) as a result of being on this site (member or just visiting) PLEASE make a contribution to the Haven Fund! (it doesn't matter how big or small) We are on a big push to hit $2500 by end of Jan which will net another $500 thanks to a *very* generous member (SirFolio16 is a minion legend!) but ONLY if we hit that $2500 target. Don't make me get all Bob Geldof on your ass! - Give us your <bleeping> money!

You got it all safe and sound, great news. I'm very happy you are pleased with it! Thanks for your purchases Simon.

You have a lovely collection and congrats on all your other new additions too.

(this has been a charity broadcast on behalf of the Haven Fund Trust. Other charities exist and would welcome your money. all rights reserved, Giving to the Haven Fund does not guarantee success in the afterlife, all donations welcome, please tip your waitress, try the veal...)

So, you recommend the "Veal"? LOL LOL LOL

Yes. Rachel makes to order. You can have it in a bronze or pewter effect.
You can also pick your number from what is left. (And yes 19 and 99 are all gone :))
There were a limited hand painted few but they are all gone and she will not be producing any more of those.

Ok time to post some new additions to the ever 'groaning under the weight' bookshelf.

I received this a couple of days ago but just haven't had time to take photos. This is a damn fine 1st edition/1st Printing copy of The Stand, sold to me by Room 217 Caretaker. Ralph not only gave me an unbelievable price on this book, held it for me since before christmas (initially because my funds were low and then to avoid the christmas parcel 'crush') AND put in 'a little something extra for your collection'...

Here is The Stand...

and here is the 'extra' - An amazing edition of the Cemetery Dance magazine (#68 ) which not only contains the SK story 'The Glass Floor' but is a special Glenn Chadbourne issue with an Interview with the man himself, plus *every* story has artwork by Glenn. Ralph, you are a star! this is fantastic!

Just spent a happy hour reorganising my bookcase.
I've kept shelf 1 as gift/limited editions, shelf 2 is mostly DT
And the other shelves are US 1st/1st trades and have been organised by release date.

I discovered I was missing a trade edition of Liseys Story and Just after Sunset (I only have the gift editions) so need to pick those up sometime.

I'm currently negotiating for the top of the bookcase (wife has some ceramics on there currently) I will then move the DT books to the top and have 2 shelves for gift and limiteds.

The eagle eyed amongst you may spot which books have gone to Amber :)

The Stand - Complete and Uncut. 1st/1st but I'm a little disappointed with the condition of the cover. Not nearly as 'mint' as the seller claimed. Still it was pretty inexpensive so it'll do for now. This one is turning out to be tricky to get in perfect condition.

This was one I missed too cause I did not think it was a King book... not only that most copies I found on line (Ebay) were soft cover... even seen some people asking $200 for this book in fine condition. Congratulations on the new stuff. Nightmares In The Sky is one of the books that I still need to upgrade in my collection. You are right about there being a lot of lesser copies out there. I've got a nice one but it has a remainder mark. And I've got another one that has no prices on the dj (book club, I guess). Still need to find a pristine first edition.

That was my biggest headache. SO many of the ones on ebay don't show the inner cover with price info. I have passed on so many where the seller has not responded.

I guess most of the non collectors who are selling, just don't know what to include in the details. I recently had an email conversation with a guy over a set of DT books (1-4 were Viking and 5 - 7 were Grant). The set was going for a good price but there were no details on edition or print line, so I asked him what they were. Initially he sent me the ISBN Numbers :) but over a couple of exchanges I explained what I was looking for. It turned out Gunslinger was a 5th printing, DOTT was a 1st, Wastelands was a 3rd and W&G was a 3rd (Grants were all 1sts). I thanked the guy for the info but I'd pass as I was looking for Viking 1sts. He actually thanked me for teaching him something new!

My laptop and desktop won't run it as I have Windows 7 64 BIT. I do have an old XP 32 bit unit that will run 16 bit programs, but I am not a video gamer, so need to fire it up.

Using IPSParcels 30 day hold allowed me to ship in bulk. This worked out at approx $8 per item. Not bad when books from CD are charged at $40 - $60 each to ship...

so, what's in the boxes? Well nothing much rare, just some interesting 1st's to fill in the gaps of what I now personally consider to be the '1st's collection'. (In case anyone is interested I am using the TDT.org 1st Editions page as my guide. If it's on there it needs to be in my collection as a 1st/1st. (That Damn multi volume of the SK Omnibus causes me pain however... :() - I just don't think it should be included in that list).

Anyhoo first out of the boxes is a nice Pack of Wolves... all 3 1st/1st edition states plus a very nice condition Library bound (but no Library markings) Hardback version from Turtleback Books. (this is a later printing).

I think these will get a custom slipcase (hmm include the Hardback or not in the case...:orely:)

Now THIS is cool! and waaay bigger than I expected. This is Bev Vincent's Illustrated Companion. I have only glanced at it so far but it is packed with interesting stuff and beautifully done. There are little insert pockets with pullout facsimile pages of additional info on the books  way way cool. I heartily recommend picking this up if you don't have it in your collection. Kudos to Bev on this one!

Some DT books now, Volumes I, III & IV of the Viking 1sts. All picked up for very small money. I had considered these inferior to the Grant ones, but they are very nice editions in their own right (just need to pick up Vol II now, but having set a low price precedent on the others i'm going to bide my time... :) )

Also bought this Green Mile set from David as I only had the UK paperback 1sts. A little disappointed with condition as David labelled them 'fine' but there is more wear than expected. I was really hoping for a perfect set of these, still price was low so no real hardship. Also just to add to the slight annoyance, the US copies are slightly smaller in height than the UK ones, so the Custom slipcase I had made is too big. Thats another one to order then....

and lastly not part of the US shipment, but arrived the same day. A nice (and nice price as well) condition UK 1st of Eyes of the Dragon.

My decision to not collect the UK 1sts is starting to waiver, I already have practically all of them (just the early ones are missing or are BCE's) so have decided to see just how cheap I can get them over the long haul. (This was a good start :) )

As part of HF duties, I have the pleasure of hosting a new eBay Auction sale. The item can be found here (http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Stephen-King-Just-After-Sunset-Limited-Original-Art-by-Rachel-Readman-Unique-/111324014164) and is The US Collectors Edition of Just After Sunset. This book has been given the full artist treatment by our very own Rachel Readman and she has graciously completed FOUR original pieces of art in this one book! As the contributor of the book, I had the honour of suggesting which stories/elements that Rachel should draw and I selected the following:

1. Richard Sifkitz on his bike with the mural in front of him (The Stationary Bike)
2. The cat crawling inside the hit man (The cat from Hell)
3. Curtis Johnson Crawling through the toilet to escape being locked in (A very tight place)
4. At the Party, viewing the destruction of manhattan by atomic bomb (graduation afternoon)

Here are the images Rachel created:

But these are mine! you can't have them

Seriously though, these are small money. it's the first 4 (Carrie, The Shining, 'salem's Lot, and Night Shift) that are crazy hard to find because of the ridiculously low 1st print runs (<1000). I don't expect to ever get those.

Yeah, and I as well. I guess its a case of the grass is always greener, but the reason I collected U.K. editions is because I always thought, in general, that the DJ's were nicer. "IT' is a fine example.
