Steinbeck. Granted I haven't read The Terror yet, but still, East of Eden is such a classic.

I havent read East of Eden; but, The Terror was fantastic.
I often feel that "classic" books are over rated...The Great Gatsby and Catcher In the Rye were good books, but not as good as some say they are...in my humble opinion, of course!

well, yes. I understand that East of Eden is a classic, and I dutifully read it. Most of the time was bored out of my mind. The Terror, however, is a book that'll stay with me forever. I mean, old classic doesn't have to be better than new classic. Even if the latter isn't yet recognized as such. (hell, even if it will never be: it should, and that's enough)

The Terror is the only book I've seen so far that I've read all the way through, so I'm sticking with it!
