Congratulations to Chasing Dragons , Rjeso, Spencer and Jon for having the best picks this week!!! (3-1)!

Contest Rules:

1. Just pick a winner for every game listed below.

2. All picks for the week need to be posted no later than ONE HOUR PRIOR to the start of the first game scheduled for THAT week. The first game this week is Saturday at 4:30 p.m. eastern. I will lock picks no later than Saturday around 3:30 p.m. Eastern time.

3. If you fail to get your picks in by the deadline above, you may be awarded the score of the lowest W/L record for that week minus one point. Should you miss more than two weeks throughout the season, you may be dropped from the contest or become ineligible for the last place prize.

4. In the event you cannot get here, send your picks to:

dtnfootball@hotmail.com

Each week, I'll calculate and update the standings and post the next week's schedule by Tuesday.

The WINNER! At the conclusion of the season (including the playoffs and Super Bowl), I will personally award a prize to the top THREE finishers. Last year, there was something for the individual with the worst record as well. A difficult feat, in itself! That will likely happen again.

If you're interested in current team standings, Yahoo has an easy to read listing.

so can i be the first to call for Jon Gruden's head on a spike? what you saw yesterday if you watched the bucs/giants game is exactly what happens when you rest your starters for two weeks once you make the playoffs. That team was not at all ready to play. Their timing sucked. That, combined with the usual crappy play-calling from Gruden led to another playoff loss for the Bucs [their last playoff win was the 02 SuperBowl]

Dallas hasn't had a win since 1996, so I'm ahead of you there. I hope that changes Sunday, but Dallas rested their starters too, and I'm hoping it doesn't have the same effect that id did on the Bucs.

I'd make that trade in a heartbeat. For a so-called offensive genius, Gruden is the worst play-caller in the league. He's the king of calling for a receiver to run a 5 yard pattern on 3rd and 6.

Well, just this last summer my own Colorado Rockies were out by 6 or 7 games with only 15 or so left. I, like almost everyone else, wrote them off, after which they won 20 of 21 games, and went to the World Series, (Can you dig it!!!!!!! The World Series in Colorado, BASEBALL IN COLORADO IN OCTOBER) creating what will forever be known to Rockies fans as Rocktober!!!! *grumbles disparaging remarks about the Redsox under his breath* Point being...ANYTHING can happen. So keep the faith. Having been a Broncos fan my entire life, I still hate the Seahawks from thier old AFC West days. It's proven that the northern cold weather climates are tough places to win, especially during the playoffs, was my point.

LOL, I'm slowly getting over my hatred of the Chargers, Raiders, Chiefs, and Bronco's!!! I was glad to see Elway finally win one...even though we were still in the AFC.

Now, I get to hate the Niners, Rams, and Cardinals. :D

I was glad to see the Rockies in the Series, btw. :)

Yeeah, I'm mostly over it, but I seriously hated the Seahawks. It always seemed that EVERY time we played them we lost to them. Whe they left the division I was like YES!!!!!!!

NeedfulKings
01-11-2008, 02:09 PM
I thought we were doomed, going into a division with the Niners and Rams. I was always a Niner's fan (my NFC team) so that hurt. And my boy Steven Jackson out of Oregon State is the stud RB for the Rams. That sucks for me too!!!

Oh well. All's fair in football, right? :D

I'm warming up to the Bronco's, since my brother's in Colorado now. I don't think I'll ever warm up to the Raiders, though! Sorry, RF! ;)

The way the top people have picked, the only people who can gain or lose ground towards a 1-3 position are Needful, and Rjeso.
That being the case, we will have 3 games left, and Phoenix will be no worse than second place. It really is a 2 man race for first.

I propose that after this week, those still in the running PM their picks for the 2 Championship games to Needfulkings. This will avoid someone being able to choose based solely on anothers choices, and "fix' their position.
Needful can post the picks when he locks the choices.
Thoughts?

Actually, RF, I was going to be asking your assistance in locking picks on the 20th. I'm leaving for Kauai on the 18th.

I can offer that option when I post the new week on Sunday, if everyone's okay with it. Private picks can be an option, but not necessary.

Also, those who have posted their picks here have until 3:30 tomorrow to make changes.

I am not sure that people are trying to fix their position, or, at least I am not. I just pick who I think is going to win. That being said I sometimes second guess myself when I think an upset might happen, like the Giants today, and just end up picking the favorite. But it is not because everyone else is picking that way.
