I have passively collected SK first editions for years.

I recently began actively collecting.

I have been able to acquire a few nice items, as my bank account can attest.

Brian, great to see you've started your own collection thread - I, for one, look forward to seeing your posts !!!!

Oh, and in response to two points raised ...

1) There's always a fire when it comes to us wanting to see what prizes you have in the collection :onfire:

2) How's does one passively collect King? If this is some sort of curable condition, please seek the appropriate medical advice and get your bad self cured of this afflication :P

They are beautiful books. They are a pleasure to hold.

As finances allow I will obtain more numbered and lettered editions, but until then I can still enjoy a [nearly] comparable quality book in the artist's/gift editions.

I purchased a copy of Joyland that was signed by Stephen King from leakycauldron on eBay. Meanwhile I purchased the slipcase from CD. The seller was less than careful in packaging the Joyland and so it arrived damaged. I notified him and he replaced it with this copy.

The production value is fantastic. I'm looking at my other gift/artist editions and it is the nicest. Every aspect of the book and slipcase epitomizes quality. In all honesty it makes some of the others look a little cheesy.

I'm a John Updike fan.

I recently was able to acquire a First Draft of the screenplay for The Witches of Eastwick.

http://i206.photobucket.com/albums/bb179/cabinetmaniac/Books/IMG_4517.jpg

I also have a proof copy of the novel housed in a custom traycase.
Which is pretty cool! I haven't seen anything quite like this before.

I figured that since this is my 900th post, and I happened to notice that fact, it should be posted here.

I'll start with a working sketch of Puss In Boots by Jill Bauman.

I recently received my first ever custom remarque. Don Maitz did a remarqueable job with my Desperation Gift Edition.

The first pics are the request I sent him, front and back. He did a quick thumbnail sketch on the front and then a full rough sketch on the back.

http://i206.photobucket.com/albums/bb179/cabinetmaniac/Books/Thumbnailsketch.jpghttp://i206.photobucket.com/albums/bb179/cabinetmaniac/Books/IMG_4574.jpg

The next is a full sketch that Don did as a preliminary work prior to attempting the book. Suitable for framing. He does this with all his remarques.

This is a Secret Santa post.

If you haven't figured out what to get me yet...

All Wanted 1sts

Carrie (1974)
'Salem's Lot (1975)
The Shining (1977)
Rage (1977)
Night Shift (1978)
The Stand (1978)
The Long Walk (1979)
The Gunslinger (1982) – 2nd Grant edition
The Bachman Books (1985) HC
The Eyes of the Dragon (1987) I need one of the three printings. Not sure which.
‘Salem’s Lot - Illustrated Version (2005)

Dark Visions (1988)
The Plant (1983-6)
Six Stories (1997)

Books I have that I would like a better copy of:
Different Seasons
The Waste Lands dustjacket

*
I started collecting British HC 1sts and need most of them. The same goes for paperback 1sts

*

I've never listened to an audiotape. On Writing was recommended to me or The Gunslinger narrated by King.

*

I also collect John Updike, but I have most of the affordable books. I collect Joe Hill, Owen King, Clive Barker, HP Lovecraft, Ray Bradbury.

I like interesting artwork whether horror/King themed or not.

*

I'm a gardener, a cook and I like Rock & Roll.

*

These of course are just a few suggestions. I am sure I will be very happy with whatever I receive.
