Next up is a Flatsigned 1/1 of Extremely Loud, and Incredibly Close. One of the best movies of last year but the book is very, very well done. A ton of interior art, and awesome pictures.

http://imageshack.us/a/img805/787/img3901r.jpg

I also collect OLDER books (pre-1700's - 1920's)

This one was published in 1906 - it is the Bible Hero stories. Bound in leather and with gilt pages it is a pretty nice book. Interesting read as well.

http://imageshack.us/a/img515/4849/img3905k.jpg

This next one was done in 1899 - The History and Triumphs of the 19th Century basically explores all of humanities collective great achievements in the 1800's. The front cover is actually painted by hand.

I am also a HUGE fan of Charles Schulz - this was his last comic in a Sunday newspaper

For those of you college basketball fans out there - I am an alumn of Xavier University (Home of the Musketeers) - and I love college basketball. This is about our current coach Chris Mack!

A lot of people are fans of this one - although not a 1/1 or anything still one of my favorite illustrated books

http://imageshack.us/a/img194/7213/img3914i.jpg

After seeing the swedish movies of the Millenium trilogy I tried the books and actually liked them way better. Here are a full set of the rare UK editions

I had no idea there was a Walling Dead comic series. Mind you, I've only just downloaded and watched season 1 in the past few weeks! I've been enjoying the show. Is the comic series just as good?

Nice looking collection

As with most things, the book is better than the tv show. Walking dead is no exception. I don't buy the individual comics - I wait patiently (about 15 months) for the large absolutes to come out - they've reissued volumes 1&2 and they can be had fairly inexpensively through amazon. Plus the art is great - IMHO. Also the story line is slightly different than the tv series (and much cooler than the tv series - but I won't spoil anything).

That was a GE? Not to take away from your P&J, which it certainly is, but I thought it was a S/L. Mine I bought sans slipcase so, I didn't recognize a difference. I got a "Dolso" case for my copy. How could you tell, Shannon?

I called and was told the following. 20 percent is the max discount on the book. They do not take any books in trade. They are NOT interested in ANY other Stephen King S/L, even for purchase for their store as they are "very selective". So it looks as if 1000 is the best price possible.

bdwyer19
08-27-2013, 10:11 AM
Looking at estimated values over at Tomas' site, DTII is valued between $1200-$1600. I don't know how current that is, but if it is, $1000 is a good deal. In my opinion, anyway.

becca69
08-27-2013, 10:34 AM
I too think that's a fair price. I haven't seen any cheaper except that crazy deal Bob got recently, and I would call that once-in-a-lifetime!

Roseannebarr

Slight lean on your DTII book.

Slight lean in the book. What is the return policy? I told my wife i was slightly ugly. She was surprised when she met me. Her definition and mine were quite different. of course, i was trying to sell myself. And she got the bad end of the deal!

WOW thanks! not sure about that price though - is that a good/bad price?

havent really posted here in awhile although I have lots to post - howver first up is something special.

The NYC King Event was my first ever. I saw Explorer as well as David. The event organization was completely horrible, the book distribution erratic, but I really enjoyed Stephen and Owen's time together. Here is my score from the event.

http://imageshack.com/scaled/large/443/kvkd.jpg
http://imageshack.com/scaled/large/690/ir6s.jpg

I haven't seen any other green ones yet so that is pretty cool. I scored that on my book. Here is what my gf Michelle scored on hers.

http://imageshack.com/scaled/large/819/dpi7.jpg

However - this is what happens when the book distribution becomes unorganized

http://imageshack.com/scaled/large/845/2s22.jpg

I will treasure them both as this was my first King event and I was lucky enough to score two signed books!

I sent a green one to david at Betts Books! thats two!

Nick, how do you display the portfolio's? I was initially very interested in them, but then I found I had no where to really display them and would just stick them on a shelf. Just curious as to what your method is or isn't.

Currently I have no way to display them but when I get my new cases I will be buying plastic stands from demco. I'll do the same for my stand portfolio and cycle of the werewolf.

Oh, good idea. I should have thought of that!!!

Hey Nick. What is the difference man? They look really cool. I have yet to score that!

Red was only 1-10 and contained an original small piece from Phil hale. Mine is unnumbered without the art. Black was the numbered version. 400 made.

I likey man. Congrats!

Congratulations Nick. Love the Insomnia portfolios. I don't have either yet. The bluelines are definitely an unusual item to have. Very jealous.

Nice! We are also buying a house at the moment (our first as well) so I can relate to your excitement. I am very jealous of the large properties everyone in the US seems to have - we're lucky to get a garden of 35mē. That's what you get with 17 million people in a country the size of Maryland (I just looked that up).

Wow, Nick!!! Color me impressed!!! Wonderful items that can be passed on down to your children and then theirs!!! We have the "Polar Express" train ride out here (goes to the Grand Canyon). I hope to take, Merlin IV on it next year. I'm chmping at the bit to take him, but he's still a little young to appreciate it. If you get the chance you should make a point of trying it out. EVERYONE says it is a great experience and I'm looking forward to it next year.

The other editions are wonderful as well!!! Merlin IV, LOVES trains though!!! LOL
