Thanks, Bill!

I should mention, there are basically no limits to the custom artwork I'll create to accompany each book. You name it, I'll draw it (or do my best anyway! lol) I hope Brice doesn't mind I share the gift I made for him awhile back as an example:

Well I am in for the Eyes of the Dragon - I cannot find my copy anywhere (I think I donated that and the Stand a few years back to our local bookshop). As for the artwork - I would leave it up to you - something befitting the book - and please feel free to place the artwork in the actual book.

Krystle - Now if this is okay - And to keep the karma rolling I will donate $20 - $10 for the eyes of the dragon (for me) and another $10 for the next person that would like one of the books on the list (and some original art)...kind of that bridge toll thing and paying it forward...but i guess in terms of the bridge toll thing it is really paying it backwards since you are paying for the person behind you...

Hey, Krystle, this is way cool (and you've stepped it up a notch too Chad , awesome) ... So, backward, forward, sideways (yeah, I'm currently directionless) given that you're okay in shipping to Australia (my cost of course) I'd like to take The Dark Half, with one of your drawing inside, signed and dated, too) and up the ante for this book to, say, a $50 donation (just for the hell of it)

Bill, that sounds great! It may take a few days for the drawing, is that okay? I'm hoping I can get The Dark Half finished before Monday. I wasn't happy with the first sketch, so I went in a different direction. I haven't started inking the book yet... but... here's The Eyes of the Dragon. My very first "remarque" style work! Let me know what you think.

Books are wrapped (please excuse the unprofessional packaging, they are safe but not pretty!) and ready to go! I should have a scan of the Dark Half ready to post later today, with permission from the new owner. ;)

The only snag is... there is a major storm coming today apparently. I'm posting this after my district cancelled classes for the day. If it turns out to be bad, I may not be able to mail the books until tomorrow. :(

Just tossing this out there...

Anyone who makes a donation for the DREAMCATCHER book will also receive - in addition to an original artwork - a real dreamcatcher handcrafted by me! I use a combination of authentic Navajo and Comanche materials to create the dreamcatcher in the method I learned from my great great grandmother, so this is the 'real deal'.

Hopefully this extra incentive will help find this book a new home!!

(I though I posted this already - must not have hit enter) - Actually if you look closely enough I think Krystle's stick "person" has cool wavy arms and legs whereas Jerome's was extremely straight - like if a ruler were used - so I don't think it would hold up in court

Just tossing this offer out there... for both Four Past Midnight books, I'll give the option of either receiving the artwork OR four short short stories specifically written for you. You can even select themes, characters, settings, or prompts for me to incorporate.

Think of it this way... when I someday become an unbelievably famous author, this will be an investment! You will have the original drafts of these stories to sell on eBay for millions of dollars!

Trying to get caught up on the forum and just read through this thread for the first time. Krystle, this is one of the funnest fundraiser ideas to witness. A great idea and a good time for a great cause!

EDIT: Ok, I went back and reviewed the remaining list. If it's still available, I'd like THE TALISMAN with a genuine, one-of-a-kind original drawing in the book. Tell me where to send the Paypal funds and off we go.

stkmw02
02-07-2013, 06:25 AM
Bill - your artwork will ship today! I have a date with the post office at 2:30. ;)

Grant - as I said in the PM, your dreamcatcher is framed (with an aged willow branch from the banks of the Lehigh River in Bethlehem, PA) and the decorative pieces are selected (an assortment of beads and feathers - hand crafted by a woman named Phyllis on the Navajo reservation in Pinon, AZ and feathers hand picked from the woods along Mauch Chunk Lake outside of Jim Thorpe, PA). I have the sinew ready to go (hand made by my uncle Mike using PA deer) and will put it all together next week, hopefully!! Then, the remarque will also take shape.

Patrick - The Talisman is all yours!! Paypal can be sent to stkmw02@mac.com and be sure to include your address. I hope you don't mind a short wait.

As I already told Grant, I injured my dominant arm and will be out of commission for a few days while I baby it. Currently have a wrist brace, soft pillow to prop it on, and a heating wrap to sooth it. Aside from typing left-handed, I'm all set. My very amazing husband brushed my hair, tied my shoes, secured my necklace, and drove me to work today. My students are treating me like a queen - I haven't had to lift a finger all day!!

My very amazing husband brushed my hair, tied my shoes, secured my necklace, and drove me to work today.

Really tough to do. I sympathize with him (and with you, of course). A couple of years ago my wife broke both arms in a fall. Surgery for one but both were in casts for six weeks. I did my best to wash, dry and style her hair every day while they were in casts. Although I tried my best I don't think I ever got it just right. It was pretty much a nightmare for both of us. We can laugh about it now but there was nothing funny about it at the time.

Likely not, but it's a pretty sweet husband that will do that sort of thing. Both ladies; Krystle and Mrs. Detweiller have good men. :)

Okay, I tried to earlier, but I had a bad connection...I'd like to jump on the book option with the original stories. I expect you to hurry up and become a brand name writer quick too. This whole working thing is highly overrated. <_< Just tell me what to do.

Which book would you like, Brice? Four Past Midnight is what sparked that offer.... but if you're interested in a different one I'll stretch the deal. ;)

Side story:
A friend of mine is a professional BMX biker and stunt man. He flew over the handlebars and broke both his wrists... a few months later, I went his wedding. He hadn't been with his girlfriend very long and most of us were surprised to get the invite. Then he said, in his vows, "...and when she wiped my ass for weeks as my wrists healed, I knew I couldn't lose her." That's true love.

Hey, I greatly appreciate that, but I basically have first editions (and in some cases a dozen or more editions) of every book except some of the rarer pricier ones. What really got my attention was the stories she'll write and with the way she stated it I can be a character (I know! I already am one. LOL ). :D Before she listed the King books in her first post she listed a couple non-king books if they're still available I'd happily take whichever one of those that isn't written by Nicholas Evans that she'd like to send me. :)

Brice, the non-King books in the first post are still available! Pick whichever you like and let me know. ;)

Coulrophobia, for right now I'm sticking with the books I have listed, but will provide any artwork on separate paper if you'd like it to relate to a work I'm not offering. I certainly appreciate all the requests I'm receiving about sending books or purchasing other books and will definitely - at some point - take everyone up on those offers. I didn't expect to be so popular! At this time, I'm looking to complete the artwork etc. before the end of February and find new homes for the books currently listed - any not spoken for will be donated to a local library, since I truly do need them out of our soon-to-be nursery. I'll be pretty busy in March, April, and May (what with creating new life and all) and don't want to leave any unfinished projects waiting. However, after our first edition limited baby arrives, I'll be more than happy to return to remarquing!

Bill... the Haven Fund does continue to collect donations for quite some time, correct? I'll simply have a second-wave of fundraising in a few months, if that works for you. ;)

Krystle, I'd be happy with either the Sherlock Holmes book or the Chet Williams book. I'm just looking for more reading material. Most though I am looking forward to your own. That was my motivation in this. Send me whichever you like. Surprise me! :D

Namelessandnotevenclosetopooranymore- I was about to say I had an extra copy I could send, but I forgot I loaned it to someone who shortly after abruptly moved to FL with it. Now all I have are foreign editions and a s/l.

Glad you like it! I'm just hope the webbing stays stiff... sometimes a drastic change in temperature loosens things up. I've never mailed one of these before, so I hope it holds up well on the trip! Also, I decided on all natural elements, so there is no glue used (most dreamcatchers you purchase will be reinforced with it). If a feather slips out of place, it should slip right back in. ;)

Today I'll be drafting out the remarque. I've got an idea that I think will work well... and since I have a dreamcatcher tattoo, I'm really excited to sketch this one out. I'm stepping up my game a bit after seeing the In Mint Condition illustrations, as well. Then I'll get moving on both the story for Brice and the remarque for Patrick!

Don't forget... both Four Past Midnight books still have the artwork OR short story offer available! I'll also toss out these special offers: The Green Mile single artwork/remarque OR 6 art card set for the series, Needful Things artwork/remarque OR hand drawn bookmarks 'things'. Feel free to mix-n-match offers if you have something else in mind!! These books MUST go before the end of the month!

QUESTION: I could get a lot more detail and an overall better image with pencil... but I worry that such artwork won't last as well over time. What does everyone think about pencil remarques??

What I plan to do is almost finish it, take a photo to get some feedback, and then polish it off. Finished the Dreamcatcher remarque! I decided to polish it off as is... I'm much happier with the pencil!! I'll post the photo when I get home from work, box up the book and dreamcatcher, and have it in the mail (weather permitting) tomorrow or Friday.

I also started on Brice's story... and boy am I enjoying it! There will be a lot of description and backstory to start, so the "meat" will be more of a quick and sweet dessert. ;)

Working on Patrick's Talisman remarque during my prep and lunch breaks today... happy with it so far! This will be another pencil sketch and I'm already having fun with it!

I've also been coming up with some very rough sketch/ideas for the remaining books... just in case... so I can hopefully do a faster turnaround if they are requested. Only one week left!! Then these poor, lonely books will be left at a local bookstore to collect dust. :(

Still available!! Would you like a remarque, four short-short stories, other artwork, or do you have something else in mind? Just let me know!

As for the donation, you could either send the total paypal to me (stkmw02@mac.com) which would be easier for me, or donate direct to the widget and let me know the total amount you gave, which might be easier for you. lol Its up to you!

The Talisman remarque is complete!! My husband is going to scan or photograph it today and, with Patrick's permission, I'll share the image here later.

I did a few rough sketches of Needful Things.... and I'm still stuck between two different ideas. I'll let it settle a bit this weekend and dig in on Monday. I'll also do some mental sketches of Four Past Midnight this weekend as well. I'm definitely excited!! Hopefully I get some people interested in the other Needful Things and Four Past Midnight so I can use ALL my ideas. Plus, I've got some great things in mind for the two non-King books. Continue to spread the word.

Also.... I am seriously interested in doing an art card set for the Green Mile book. SO, I'm going to do it. And I'll post the photos here and do that book with the card set silent auction style, if that's okay? I thought it might be a good way to bring this sale to a close.

Here we are.... on the last day of this incredible sale! It would be AWESOME if we could find 'adopters' for the remaining four books today!! Spread the word! :D

The Talisman, Needful Things, and Four Past Midnight are packaged and ready to ship. The Green Mile #6 art card set will be roughed out today. I'll create a separate thread then for the "silent auction" to see just how much we can raise for Haven! I will draw six small (5x7 or smaller, but definitely larger than a deck of cards lol) art cards, one for each of the Green Mile series books. At this time, I'm considering ink... pencil... color... paint... who knows!

Stay tuned for more info... and remember, these books need homes. Adopt a book today!

Thanks!! :D

I finished the Coffey's Hands Art Card today and hope to have a scan posted tonight or tomorrow. I decided to go with a few things I usually have difficult drawing, so this was a personal challenge. Hopefully it doesn't look too horrible. lol

Pencil sketch. Coffey's hands and lips, Mr. Jingles revived. Signed and dated.

There are currently NO bids on the Green Mile and Art Card set!! That means, for as little as $1 + shipping, you could have a first edition first printing Green Mile #6 paperback AND 6 hand drawn art cards!!

The last two art cards have been rough sketched and final images will be posted this week.

I'm hoping to end this auction on March 21st so the book can be shipped out March 22nd. Bring on the bets!!

Just a little bump... and my first baby vs Kin conflict. My husband told me yesterday that he wanted to take me to see King at the Connecticut event this summer, did I think it would work with the baby arriving in May? Baby wins... King will have to wait until I won't mind leaving our living one with sitters for that long. I have the feeling I may never see him in person!

Bill, I missed something... and I blame the confusion on my pregnancy-brain... what did you send money for?

And Brice... I wish there was some way baby WAS ready for a signing! My husband was seriously going to get us tickets for Connecticut, but it's just too soon and I don't think I could a) leave the baby that long b) take the baby with us. It stinks, because I've been waiting almost 20 years to see King in person.

Okay I'm not sure the best place to post this - but figured since this is more info on book sales to donate to haven foundation is was as good as place as any. Sub press sent an email today that they had several titles - I think 34 to start - at 50% off (around or at least 25 copies of most of them) - and 10% of sales will be donated to haven foundation. Here's a link to one of the auctions and you can search seller for other books available:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Robert-McCammon-THE-PROVIDENCE-RIDER-Deluxe-Trade-Hc-Signed-/251264699721?pt=US_Fiction_Books&hash=item3a808b0d49

In case any of these interest anyone here - only 20 of the titles left (of original 34). So if you do the math and figure average price was about $30 - so 10% or $3 per book goes to haven foundation - my estimation if everything sold it would be around $2500. Just FYI - please feel free to re-post in a more appropriate thread if better suited
