While traveling in Maine earlier this month we dropped into a Tavern off the beaten path in Richmond Maine. THE OLD GOAT While trying out some craft beers conversation moved to one of our destinations Bangor ME. "King country" and a goal/hope of finding some interesting SK items....
The owner pointed to a wall behind us..... and asked, "Do you recognize that artist?"
"Did you notice the art on our side wall outside". It was all done by an artist friend of Kings who use to consider this his drinking spot (prior to quitting drinking).
Would anyone recognize this art? http://i1157.photobucket.com/albums/p585/jascarpic/Old%20Goat%20Inn%20Richmond%20Maine/OldGoatartexterior.jpg
or this place?.... http://i1157.photobucket.com/albums/p585/jascarpic/Old%20Goat%20Inn%20Richmond%20Maine/TheOldGoat.jpg

Cool story and thanks for sharing. The only Maine based artist I know about is GC.

Having ventured into this tavern for some refreshments it was really cool to unexpectedly find a King connection. The Old Goat owner continued on to tell us how the artist used to also personally make Christmas cards for King which he brought in and showed off. The prints on the wall behind us were called the “Seven Goatly Sins”. We were amazed by the coincidence of finding such a quaint tavern with great food, beers and history. On our way back to the local B&B we realized we had not taken any pictures. We decided to go back the next day before leaving town. We pulled up and found the hours would not provide an opportunity for taking pictures of the prints inside so we set to taking a few of the art outside. http://i1157.photobucket.com/albums/p585/jascarpic/Old%20Goat%20Inn%20Richmond%20Maine/OldGoatout.jpg

After getting a few outdoor pics we were about to get on our way when a car pulled in.
The woman inquired about what we doing. She turned out to be the owner’s wife and liked our interest in the art.
Without hesitation she invited us to come inside to take pictures of the prints while she attended to her work there.
She adjusted lighting and shared some more tales in the friendly way we came to be accustomed to throughout Maine.
Here are a few pics:

Good guess Mr. Staad! The artwork on the walls are signed at the bottom by one Mr. Glenn Chadbourne. Nice find! :)

You are correct. Glenn was a regular who became a great friend of the owner and his wife. Here are individual pics of the prints: http://i1157.photobucket.com/albums/p585/jascarpic/DSC03271.jpg http://i1157.photobucket.com/albums/p585/jascarpic/OldGoatart2.jpg http://i1157.photobucket.com/albums/p585/jascarpic/OldGoatart3.jpg http://i1157.photobucket.com/albums/p585/jascarpic/OldGoatart4-1.jpg http://i1157.photobucket.com/albums/p585/jascarpic/OldGoatart5.jpg http://i1157.photobucket.com/albums/p585/jascarpic/OldGoatart6.jpg http://i1157.photobucket.com/albums/p585/jascarpic/OldGoatart6a.jpg

Ive vocalized my distaste for Glenns artwork before but I gotta say I really really like these pieces. I would not have guessed they were done by him. Very cool, Explorer. Appreciate your sharing.

"I would not have guessed they were done by him."

See, and I feel the opposite way. I had a guess that they were by him when I saw the big pieces on the side of the building, but once I saw the smaller pieces themselves, before I even noticed the signatures, I was like "Oh, that's good ol' GC!" :)

FWIW, Glenn is really good people. He would never say anything here, but he can use our support. Whether you love/hate his art he is a "King staple" of sorts. Anything you can do to keep him in the "black" is a good thing. He is a great guy!!!!

Agreed. Glenn is a great guy. I have only dealt with him on a few occasions but I can say he was extremely professional and quick to respond. Very cool person to work on a project with.

How was the beer? COLD ! A good variety of local micro-brews on tap & good selection of bottled brews. Great food... Heard raves about their fresh made Pizzas.

Geomon has now officially ended. Thank you, everyone who helped make this community what it was. Everyone at EsperCorp and Loki Studios will remember our time spent together for as long as we live. Geomon was temporary, but the ideas we created through it still live within us.
Look to the forums in the following days for some 'by the numbers' retrospectives, as well as the results of the final arena!
ATTENTION: Forums have now been made 'read-only' in preparation for their closure. Further community announcement

Thought I would look for this thread to bring to attention of those traveling through Maine.
The OLD GOAT is in Richmond Maine and a short detour of the highway when traveling between Bangor and Brighton or versa-visa.
This was for a time a regular stop for Glenn Chadbourne and his artwork is part of the atmosphere as well as the taverns signage.
Cold Beer, Great food and friendly locals who share stories and recommendations.
Worth fitting in your trip if you have time. This is short side step off 295 or 95 and just a little farther off US1.

You should tell Bob Jackson about this. I'm sure he would love to go and see Glen Chadbourne and his artwork. Bob is always enthusing about his work.
